Quality and success do not always go hand in hand. Sometimes a fantastic movie will bomb at the box office. Sometimes a great TV series does not get picked up for a second season. Sometimes a beautiful music album will fall under the radar. Just because something is deemed a failure does not mean it wasn’t worth looking at. Such is the story of the PC Engine, otherwise known as the TurboGrafx-16. While it did well in Japan, its attempt to get a share of the North American market crashed and burned.
It wasn’t even the fault of the console’s performance. Sure, the controller was a bit lame, and the system needed better third-party support, but what was there was usually pretty damn good. It was simply overshadowed by the war between Nintendo and Sega. Now it’s looked back on fondly, seen as a treasure trove...

Plot: Acclaimed writer Truman Capote surrounded himself with a coterie of society’s most elite women – rich, glamorous socialites who defined a bygone era of high society New York – whom he nicknamed “the swans.” Enchanted and captivated by these doyennes, Capote ingratiated himself into their lives, befriending them and becoming their confidante, only to ultimately betray them by writing a thinly veiled fictionalization of their lives, exposing their most intimate secrets. When an excerpt from the book, Answered Prayers, Capote’s planned magnum opus, was published in Esquire, it effectively destroyed his relationship with his swans, banished him from the high society he so loved and sent him into a spiral of self-destruction from which he would ultimately never recover.

It’s no surprise that when the social experiment of “Survivor” began in 2000, it would produce some of reality TV’s sexiest flings ever. When Colleen Haskell and Greg Buis began flirting on Season 1 it was a bit of a surprise to viewers, but now the terms “showmance” and “power couple” are as common as “immunity challenge” and “tribal council.” Over the course of 44 seasons and more than two decades, contestants have put aside bad breath, limbs scarred from bug bites and their saggy, dirty swimsuits in order to find each other attractive enough to, yes, fall in love. In our photo gallery above, we detail 15 of the most iconic “Survivor” showmances of all time.

The 2023 Brit Awards are taking place this Saturday 11 February at the O2 Arena in London.
The full list of nominations were announced in January, and revealed one of the most eclectic lists of nominees in recent memory.
Recent Grammy winners Wet Leg emerged as one of the most-nominated acts with four nods, alongside regular Brits attendee and Grammy Album of the Year winner, Harry Styles.
Other acts up for some of the night’s top prizes include rapper Stormzy, rock band Arctic Monkeys, and The 1975.
In the international categories, Irish rock group Fontaines DC can be found muscling up against K-pop stars Blackpink and hip-hop artists Drake and 21 Savage.
The Artist of the Year category faced widespread criticism after being entirely dominated by male acts, just one year after the Brits scrapped gendered categories.
On the night, live performances will come from artists including Stormzy, Lizzo, Harry Styles and Wet Leg.

One of the most memorable moments in Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” arrives when Brad Pitt’s Cliff Booth climbs to the roof of Rick Dalton’s house to fix an antenna. It’s a warm summer afternoon in Los Angeles, so Cliff strips down and takes off his shirt. Pitt’s physique and the way the sun is beating down on his body and glaring off his abs overwhelmed more than a handful of moviegoers. Tarantino appeared on the latest episode of Amy Schumer’s “3 Girls, 1 Keith” podcast and recalled the moment he tried and failed to direct Pitt’s acting when it came to how Cliff should take off his shirt.
“It was funny because actually in public Brad is kind of shy about things like that,” Tarantino said. “At the same time, he knows exactly what time it is. I go, ‘So, I...

Happy Thursday, Grey's Anatomy fans. Finally, some more news has broke regarding the current season 15 of your favorite show which is currently on a long, winter break hiatus. It turns out that they are going to bring an older, more mature lady into the mix at some point after the winter break is over. According to the folks over at TV Line.com , The Grey's Anatomy production crew has hired former Dirty Dancing actress Jennifer Grey to come on and play an assumed short story arc. Unfortunately, the ABC rep that TVLine spoke to refused to reveal any other details about Jennifer Grey's new role. So, we don't have a name for her character or what she'll be up to when she arrives. However, that has not stopped people from heavily speculating on who her character is. It's highly speculated that she could play character Jo Wilson's estranged mother.

People will tell you Tom Waits’ best album is Rain Dogs. This is not strictly true. It is perhaps the most Waits-ian of Tom Waits albums, by virtue of having a Waits lookalike on the cover and a song selection that ranges across virtually every genre of music (and combinations thereof) Waits could wrangle. But the best Tom Waits album is not Rain Dogs. Instead it’s Bone Machine (which netted Waits his first Grammy in 1993), and it turns 25 years old today.
Waits explained Rain Dogs’ titular inspiration to Spin in 1985: “You know, dogs in the rain lose their way back home.

Last year, Kristen Wiig’s emotional SNL sendoff set a high water mark for cast member farewells. (Compare it to, say, the way Chris Kattan said goodbye with a “terrible re-enactment” of his SNL career during his last show 10 years ago.)
I’d say that mark was met — and possibly exceeded — by the closing sketch of tonight’s show, in which Fred Armisen (as punk rocker Ian Rubbish, first introduced when Vince Vaughn hosted a few weeks ago) sang a sweet original tune filled with simple, evocative lyrics like, “It’s been all right, I’ve had a lovely night.

At ABC‘s upfront, there were a few things that the network wanted to make sure you knew. 1) They are really impressed with the idea that people are going to watch Rebel Wilson do just about anything, and 2) There isn’t anything they’re happier about than bringing you more episodes of television created by Shonda Rhimes.
On these notes, the network would love for you to know that more Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal are coming your way. These, ABC would like to impress upon you (as advertisers) are really good shows. Because… hellllooo… so many people watch them that we’re bringing them back. But wait, don’t think that you’re as excited as you can get yet, because if those are your favorite shows, then we have a new one for you to fall in love with, Betrayal.

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the third announced earlier today. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on ABC.
The network is changing up some of its serialized dramas - removing random repeats in favor of two "uninterrupted runs" of twelve episodes each (one in the fall, one in the spring) for shows like "Once Upon A Time," "Grey’s Anatomy," "Scandal" and "Revenge". The large gaps between the two half-seasons will be bridged by "limited series" designed around only 12-13 episode seasons.
Several other pilots didn't make the final cut and won't be seen including the high-profile "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" rip-off "Gothica", McG's rip-off of Baz Luhrmann's "Romeo + Juliet" entitled "Westside", the series based on Disneyland's Big Thunder Mountain ride, the Annie Potts-led "Murder in Manhattan" about...

I really don't put much stock in the International Animated Film Society's 2013 Annie Awards, which is why I didn't rush to report on their results on Saturday. One year Disney and Pixar boycott the event, feeling there was an unfair advantage paid to larger contributing sponsors, DreamWorks being the primary example. So with such a nasty stench over the event what good does it do to pay it much mind? That said, I'll be brief in mentioning Wreck-It Ralph topped Saturday night's winners with five awards, including Best Animated Picture. The awards have something like a 75% streak when it comes to helping predict the eventual Oscar winner for Best Animated Feature and as the days have gone on, it's looking more and more like Ralph will be this year's winner (see my predictions here). Pixar's Brave, Laika's ParaNorman and DreamWorks' Rise of the Guardians each took home two awards in lesser,...

Heartthrob Jesse McCartney has already established himself as a singer-songwriter, with three solo albums under his belt. He's also stacked up quite the résumé as a television actor, with recurring roles on "All My Children" and "Greek"; and he's the voice of Dick Grayson/Nightwing on the animated series "Young Justice."
But as a film actor, McCartney remains relatively unknown. That's likely to change this Friday when McCartney headlines the cast of "Chernobyl Diaries," a radioative-mutant horror thriller from Oren Peli, the guy behind "Paranormal Activity." Cue the screams.
Age: 25
Hometown: Westchester, New York
What He's Done: More like, what hasn't he done? McCartney launched his musical career as a member of the boy band Dream Street. At 15, he went solo and hasn't looked back, releasing three pop albums and crooning on a slew of Disney soundtracks. He netted two Daytime Emmy Award nominations for his performance as Adam Chandler Jr.

"'They were experimenting on themselves,' says David Cronenberg, with no small amount of satisfaction, about the psychoanalytic all-stars of his superb new film, A Dangerous Method." Nicolas Rapold's met him and writes up an interview-slash-review for the Voice. "It's the dawn of the 20th century, and we are present for the messy birth of psychoanalysis as handsome, ambitious Carl Jung (Michael Fassbender) puts into practice the radical ideas of his outspoken mentor, Sigmund Freud (Viggo Mortensen), and takes extra special care of his first talking-cure patient, the brilliant, hot, hysterical Sabina Spielrein (Keira Knightley). Trysts with Spielrein and rifts with Freud follow, in a meticulous, electric costume drama of adultery and rivalry, shot through with self-examination and the rippling risks of acknowledging one's own desire."
But Andrew Hultkrans, writing for Artforum, prefers the early scary ones: "The arc of David Cronenberg's career as a director mirrors that of...

Following rounds 1 and 2, this one will take us right on through the countdown to Halloween and will surely be the most actively updated of the bunch. Best to begin, then, by grounding it in a classic, so we turn to David Kalat: "Frankenstein isn't a science fiction story about an arrogant scientist who intrudes on God's domain, it's a metaphor about our relationship to God." That's his argument, and I'll let him explain, but I want to pull back to a couple of earlier sentences in his piece. Mary Shelley's novel, "and the 1910 film version, treated the 'science' of Frankenstein as just so much folderol, a MacGuffin to introduce the artificial man into the story. Whale was so good at providing a reasonably convincing visualization of reviving the dead — no, more than that, a stunningly satisfying visualization of reviving the dead — it focused popular attention on that part of...

One Tree Hill covered the idea of having children this week, along with the relationships these children then have with their parents. It wasn't as good as some recent episodes, but not nearly as bad as some earlier in the season.
Let's start with Brooke and Julian, who were attempting to adopt a baby from a 19-year old pregnant woman played by Leven Rambin. Rambin seems to be in everything these days. After I first disliked her character in The Sarah Connor Chronicles, I proceeded to dislike her characters in Grey's Anatomy, the two episodes of Scoundrels I watched, and ,most recently, as a red head in Wizards of Waverly Place (yes, you read that correctly).
I loved her on "I Think I'm Gonna Like It Here," though, and not just because she ultimately decided to let Brooke and Julian adopt her baby. Her character, Chloe, seemed to have been through a lot,...

Locke & Key, the television series adaptation of Joe Hill’s comic book series of the same name, has concluded the “exhaustive search” for the show’s male lead, Tyler Locke. Jesse McCartney (Young Justice, Keith) has been cast as Tyler (“Ty”), the oldest of the Locke children. McCartney joins the cast of Miranda Otto (Nina), Nick Stahl (Duncan), and Sarah Bolger (Kinsey).

Nearly three years ago, Joe Trohman and Scott Ian met up, drank a fair amount and started talking about — of all things — their mutual love for Thin Lizzy. That initial conversation was the de facto beginning of the Damned Things, their heavy-riffing, hard-strutting new band.
Of course, back then, both men were still busy with their day jobs — Trohman as the guitarist of Fall Out Boy and Ian as the epicenter of thrash legends Anthrax — so rather than pursuing the idea of forming a group together, they simply recorded a demo and kept the project under wraps, referring to it only with a super-secret (and sorta-awesome) code name: Methuselah.
