Michael Jackson : Video Game star.
insomniac_rod3 December 2006
This was a very entertaining Sega Genesis and Arcade video game. I remember having a good time with it although it wasn't that difficult to beat. The dance sequences and special moves were pretty inventive and caught the special vibe at the moment.

Jackson was the main hero and whenever he rescued children, they said "Thanks Michael!".

Oh, this is for nostalgia's sake.

If you are a fan of Jackson (or were like me) you will truly enjoy this video game. Look for it! it's a hidden gem among the late 80's Arcade games.

Sort of fun game based on the movie of the same name.

Not a great game by any stretch of the imagination, it was worth the rental. In the game you play as Michael Jackson and you must rescue children kidnapped for reasons only the writers and creators of this game know for sure. You attack people by doing a few dance moves and at times it is advantageous to unleash your ultimate attack! A movie that makes you spin around and makes all the enemies join in and dance with you. I always enjoyed trying to get as many bad guys and animals on the screen and in different places to make it really epic. By today's standards it is not going to hold up well. The 16-bit sound in no way comparing to a CD based video game. Still, you hear some of Jackson's music as you go through various levels, it is a better game based on a movie than they make these days. It does not seem to steal its game play from another game, but rather actually tries to bring something new to the table. However, the point in the game you turn into a robot is strange to say the least. There is also sort of a flying stage at the end as you take on the villain who was played by Joe Pesci in the film. Not going to say it was great, but like I said it was a fun rental at the time. Not a Revenge of Shinobi type fun, but it had its moments.

A classic and well remembered game.
Stonedwithoutdope8 January 2006
I remember when I was very young getting a sega master system bundled with this game. Its was a good game for its time especially good for keeping four kids occupied. I haven't played it in around ten years but I remember this game being a big part of the reason I looked up to MJ then.

Storys simple. Children have been kidnapped and its up to Michael Jackson to go through certain stages of his film "Moonwalker" and rescue them. This takes him to a 50's club (Smooth criminal), a thug infested car park (Beat it), a graveyard and more.

Classic game although very outdated I would recommend to anyone.

Very good game from its time, and I still play it.

Warning: Spoilers
This game is from Michael Jackson's good years. That's right, the 80's.

The basic plot is to save kids from the notorious Mr. Big. You start out in a 50's club, saving kids from evil gangsters while an instrumental version of Smooth Criminal plays in the background. This level goes on for three stages.

You are then sent out on the streets, with real gang members to fight against. You go through 3 stages of this as well, the third is a nice big parking garage. This is the first appearance of the shooting star that turns Michael into a robot that can fly and shoot at people. On the streets, you get to hear Beat It played.

These levels change, as do the bad guys. You fight Zombies, spiders, and eventually get to face Mr. Big himself.

The last level has you chasing Mr. Big on a spaceship, and while you're chasing him, you pretty much have the game clinched, and it is visually impossible to lose after you have gotten to this level. All that you have to do is take him out.

Overall, I like the game. Sure, it's outdated, but it's the 80's. If you're a big MJ fan and you've played it, tell me what you thought. If you haven't played it, try it.

The best sega game ever, based on the movie!!!

Warning: Spoilers
This game bring back a lot of memories, you start out in club 50, and end up in space, battling your nemesis.

It is the basic plot of the movie, well actually only the first and final stage, nevertheless it has perfect score for the music, and interesting new moves, such as transforming into a robot, just like in the movie.

Bubbles, Mj's monkey also appears in the game as he guides you through the levels to find the Bose.

If you are a Mj fan this game is for you, if you are not a fan, try it it offers hours of fun and entertainment.

One of the best games for Sega ever made!

Warning: Spoilers
Talking crap about this game in the first place means only one thing, you don't like Michael Jackson and want to give him a bad name.

I do like his songs as an artist and I also like this game very much.

Maybe today it has bad graphics and bad sound etc etc. But when it first came out, it was the best game ever... and even today it is the best game 'for Sega'.

It has lots of great songs from the album 'BAD' and 'THRILLER'. Well they are in MIDI format, which can sound 'bad' today. But I still enjoy them.

Even so, this game is old, it still gives me flashbacks of my own childhood. I remember that I played this game for hours everyday and over and over again.

Lastly it is actually a very hard game to finish, I even today can't finish it without struggle.

PS: Michael Jackson is an artist, so the dancing movements in the game is just common sense. Would it be better off if he used a Machine gun to shoot down the gangsters? No! Of course not. If you like that kind of games, play Doom.

What, in the eternal majesty of God's wonder, is this???
A 'fun' arcade game it may well have been in it's day, but one cannot play Moonwalker today without feeling dirty or somewhat guilty. Based on the 'movie' of the same name, Moonwalker is just as weird, bizarre and outrageously self-glorifying as Wacko Jacko himself.

You take on the role of a suspected pedo, dressed in a white gangster suit, who must rescue children (hidden in closets, drawers, garbage cans) from the evil Mr. Big. Upon being rescued these kids respond joyously with 'MICHAEL', knowing that they are now safe with the King of Pop. You need to rescue all the little sprogs in every level before you meet the end-level boss. But some children are too well hidden.

And who IS this Mr. Big exactly. The Jacko of 1989 fighting against a child-napper, who's motives for stealing kids is unknown in the game, seems prophetic in a split-personality kind of way. Just like in Thriller where he played a ghoulish, inhuman beast, eerily foreshadowing the future.

The gameplay itself is ludicrous. As you (moon)walk across the various levels (some generic, some inspired by his 'classic' music videos) you'll encounter baddies like gangsters and zombies and your amazing way of killing them is...dancing them do death. Seriously! It's not Jesus Juice, it's Jacko Jamming! You hit the special attack button and Jacko will suddenly yell 'OW!' before strutting his lethal stuff. After which, the baddies will be vanquished somehow. After playing this game you'll be exhilarated and mentally exhausted at Jacko's killer moves. You'll be reduced to a dribbling wreck. He's so good, that even passing-by animals will join in and shake their asses. If you ever wanted to play a game in which even an innocent dog is hypnotised by Jacko into dancing Thriller then this is for you. But I don't want to know you.

The music is no more than low-quality samples of Smooth Criminal and Thriller, as you should know this music follows Jacko everywhere he goes in real life and will change depending on where he is.

In the later levels, if you catch a falling star Jacko will turn into a huge robot. Of course. Like in the film, I just can't get over the feeling that Jacko only included this because he wants to see himself 100 feet high. It's ridiculous and has nothing to do with anything! But in a moronic, hopelessly out-dated video game I suppose it's okay. It was kind of easy to finish too and I never really played it again afterwards. But these days, it leaves a bad taste in your mouth and I can understand why no one would want to play it again.

Classic and iconic game

One of the best old games there is. Michael was a genius. His music and dance are untouchable. And so is this game. RIP Michael Jackson.

This game was ahead of it's time when it came out. A true masterpiece. The truth is anything MJ touches is iconic
