Theatrical Trailer
In this romantic knockabout comedy, Ryan Reynolds makes himself over from a bumbling, overweight nice guy who can never get past being "just friends" with the object of his teenage affections (Amy Smart) to a slim, slick ladies man and fast-rising music executive lands back home and decides to get some romantic payback. Instead he falls for his high school crush all over again and time has done nothing to make wooing her any easier. "Like a sprinter who puts all their energy into getting off to a great start, Just Friends is fantastic out of the gate, and predictably loses its wind halfway towards its destination," writes IMDb critic Mark Englehart. It "has a spry manic energy that keeps it interesting for longer than you'd expect; it's like a Farrelly brothers movie minus the ick factor." Anna Faris is the needy pop-diva Reynolds has to babysit through it all and Chris Klein is a fellow former dweeb turned sensitive, ballad-singing rival suitor for Smart's affections. Roger Kumble (The Sweetest Thing) directs.
