Great work, Ariana Grande!
The One Love Manchester benefit concert organized by the "Into You" singer was a lot of things: a star-studded, feel-good show; an emotional and at-times heart-wrenching tribute to the victims and survivors of recent U.K. terror attacks; and a show of solidarity, strength and love in the face of hate and divisiveness. However, it was also a chance to raise funds for the families of people involved in the tragic terror attack at Grande's Manchester Arena concert last month -- and on all those fronts, it was an outstanding success.

According to the British Red Cross, nearly $3 million (£2.35 million) was raised during the concert alone for the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund.
"We've raised an incredible £2.35 Million during #OneLoveManchester! Thank you so much for your donations. http://redcross.org.uk/love," the charity wrote on Twitter.

Can Sam Callahan finally win over Gary Barlow? How old is Nicholas McDonald? (16!!) And will Nicole Scherzinger be as 'excited' as she was on last week's Live Show? These are all questions we hope will be answered this evening.
Join us from 8pm when it all kicks off again on ITV.
21:32See you tomorrow at 8pm. Celine Dion and Robbie Williams are the special guests. Thanks for all the comments, as always. We love them all. Good and bad.
21:30That's all for tonight folks. There's no Flash Vote tonight. You'll have to wait 24 hours to find...

Pretty much everyone who's ever been to high school has heard the claim that pineapple juices allegedly make a, uh, certain male quality taste better, but few have taken matters into their own hands as efficiently as Aubrey Plaza in her new movie "The To-Do List." In an exclusive MTV Sneak Peek Week clip, her character, Brandy Clark, reads in a magazine about the magic property of pineapple juice. That revelation leads the men she knows to guzzle the stuff to hilarious results.
It seems as though not every guy in the film understands why they're drinking pineapple juice, as Kevin Brennan's character tells Andy Samberg's that Brandy insisted on the drink because she is Mormon. We don't know if they'd be more or less intrigued if they knew the real reason.
In case you couldn't tell by the above clip, "The To-Do List" has an all-star cast.

This just in: Mariah Carey is currently in the American Idol naughty corner (located somewhere between Keith Urban’s fitted t-shirt room and Nicki Minaj’s false-eyelash trunk).
Yes indeed, the “We Belong Together” singer mentioned in one of many verbose critiques tonight that she’d been “reprimanded by the powers that be” for failing to perform her duties as a judge (and presumably for doing little else besides offering empty platitudes and avoiding eye contact with the crazy cartoon character two chairs to her left). Britain's Queen Elizabeth thought Robbie Williams was a dog trainer. The 'Candy' hitmaker performed at this year's Royal Variety Performance alongside stars such as Alicia Keys and 'Britain's Got Talent' winners Ashleigh Butler and her performing dog Pudsey, and the Take That singer was surprised to discover the monarch didn't 'have a clue' who he was and mistook him for Pudsey's trainer. Speaking at one of his performances last week, he said: 'I have had the pleasure of singing for the queen this week. She hasn't got a clue who I am. 'At the Royal Variety Performance, in the line-up afterwards, we were shaking hands ... and she thought I was Pudsey's trainer.' This isn't the first time the queen...

As nine o'clock approached, we counted down as an audience, all very cheerful and inclusive; it was like Hi-de-hi on a giant scale, or the millennium. We were partying like it was 1999.
It would have been good to hear from Prince, but he's not British, of course. It's not very often that people organise a concert along purely national lines. There are things you lose and things you gain, of course, but – inspired by the Olympics – I would like to see more of this, maybe some nation-on-nation competing, where we could get Emeli Sande in a sing-off against Beyoncé. I only say this because I think we would win. One of the many hard things about the coming weeks will be to stop wanting to turn every element of life into a rankable competition with clear victors.

The 49th annual Ann Arbor Film Festival is an epic celebration of experimental media that runs for six days on March 22-27. There’s so much great stuff screening this year, it makes one wonder what they’ll have left for their 50th anniversary next year!
A couple of the highlights include the highly anticipated feature-length documentary The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye by Marie Losier, which chronicles the pandrogynous love story between industrial music pioneer Genesis P-Orridge and his late wife. The film already made a big splash at the Berlinale earlier in the year and looks to be a major hit on the festival circuit this year.
Also not to be missed is a special retrospective of one of this year’s festival jury members, Vanessa Renwick, a longtime favorite on Bad Lit: The Journal of Underground Film. Renwick will screen 10 of her quirky and artistic documentary portraits,...

Sorry, sweetie.
The Brit Awards were yesterday, and Lily Allen opened the show looking better than I've seen her look in years, backed by a squadron of men in pink camouflage. But if she had any intention of stealing the show, she didn't count on Lady GaGa.
The Spice Girls won the Best Performance in 30 years for "Wannabe/Who Do You Think You Are" while Dizzee Rascal snagged Best Male Solo artist from perennial favorite Robbie Williams.
Lady Gaga walked away with Best International Breakthrough, and later picked up Best International Solo Artist. Host Peter Kay called her "New York's answer to Su Pollard."
Boyband Jls, who have spent a lot of time shirtless in front of the camera on their reality program picked up Best British Breakthrough, while Kasabian got Best British Group.
Enjoy some pics from the show and red carpet.

With so many categories in so many genres — rock, rap, country, classical and more — and so many live performances — from the likes of Eminem, Drake and Beyoncé — there's just not enough time to hit everything during the three-hour long Grammy Awards. Since Wednesday night's unveiling of the 2010 Grammy Awards nominations, most of the conversations have been about the three-way dance between Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and Beyonceé, the trio of women who lead the way in the most important categories (those being Song, Record and Album of the Year). But there are plenty of other competitions that provide intriguing showdowns between artists. Here are the four that we will be talking about until the show, which will air live on January 31, 2010.
Best Rap Solo Performance: This category pits two heavy hitters (Jay-z and Eminem) against two newcomers (Drake and Kid Cudi) and a dark horse on the comeback (Mos Def). Though Jay-z may seem like the favorite, the true head-to-head in this category is between Slim Shady and Drake. It's the new kid on the block versus an able veteran, and they both showed up on one of the best...

It was the 1960s and a foursome took over the popular music charts in America, but they didn’t wear mop-tops. Right before the British Invasion, the girl group known as the Shirelles soared with hits such as “Dedicated to the One I Love,” “Soldier Boy,” “Will You Still Me Tomorrow,” and “Baby It’s You,” amongst many others. The Shirelles were discovered by Florence Greenberg, an ambitious and very prescient New Jersey housewife who founded Scepter Records, and consequently changed the face of popular music forever. In her business life, Greenberg was a woman who dove right into the middle of a male-dominated record industry and created one of the most successful independent labels of the time, and on the personal side, she left her first marriage for a union with African-American songwriter Luther Dixon. The story of Greenberg,...

More than anything else, this retelling of the beloved 1843 Charles Dickens tale is a Horror story. In his third go-round helming a CG-animated film via Performance Capture (following The Polar Express and Beowulf), screenwriter-director Robert Zemeckis emphasizes the chills while also adding the thrills one might expect from Disney Digital 3-D and/or a Disneyland E-ticket ride.
Does anyone, Anyone really need the premise recounted? Well, Ok, you in the spacesuit—since you were off planet for a couple of decades. Ebenezer Scrooge is a noted miser and a rather miserable bastard to all who know him in Victorian London. His (dead) business partner Jacob Marley arranges for Christmas Eve visits by three ghosts to persuade him (in a sort of Scared Straight manner) to change his evil ways. (Spoiler Alert!) He does. The End. Merry Christmas!

Dir: Robert Zemeckis Cast: Jim Carrey, Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Bob Hoskins Last night saw the breaking of a few festive world records in a decidedly Dickensian Leicester Square. Firstly, opera singer Andrea Bocelli lead the largest Christmas Carol ‘sing-along’ from the Square, as revellers across London joined in after the official ‘turning on’ of the Christmas lights. Then Disney, in collaboration with Sky Movies HD, hosted the largest ever ‘3D premiere’ for their new film ‘A Christmas Carol’. Anyone who worries that Christmas has sold its soul should have headed to central London last night: Disney have bought the entire centre’s Christmas lights, so Jim Carey’s performance-captured face will be staring down at us from all over the shopping district until the dawn of 2010. But in Disney’s defence – and not wanting to cry ‘humbug’ too loud on this joyous occasion – the premiere was a success and...

Those acts crowding the nominations list of MTV Europe Music Awards this year have been unearthed with U.S. artists in domination. One in particular is Lady GaGa who has made her triumph at recent MTV Video Music Awards. The "Just Dance" singer is taking five nominations, the same amount that Kings of Leon grab.
GaGa is placed under Best Song category for "Poker Face", Best Live Act and Best Female among others. In all three categories, she has to battle them out with Beyonce Knowles who puts up front her single "Halo". Beyonce herself is up for four nominations, one in Best Video for "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)".
Other international acts who are competing this year include Jay-z, Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift, Linkin Park, The Veronicas and Kanye West. Meanwhile, there is one category, Best European Act, which contenders will only be announced on October 12. Voting...

It could be a mirror he's looking into. That performance capture stuff freaks me out, man. It is Uncanny Valley, defined. Performance capture characters look plenty human, but they're "off" somehow. "Polar Express" freaked me out, "Beowulf" freaked me out and now "A Christmas Carol" is freaking me out. It's also a kickass story, and I've grudgingly accepted that I'll see it even if it feeds my every nightmare in the months that follow.
Judging by the chains and the comfortable surroundings, the scene pictured in the exclusive image below occurs early on, when Scrooge (Jim Carrey) is learning what he's in for from the ghost of his old friend, Jacob Marley (Gary Oldman).
