Continuity: Right after Haley (Missy) tries to apologize to Tricia, as she walks up the stairs and on to the stage and then to her spot in line, the camera is set far back watching the entire stage, as the girls step forward and raise their hand as their name is called, Haley is just getting into line, when Joanne is stepping forward, but when it does a close-up, Haley is already in line, and the person before Joanne is stepping forward, then Joanne proceeds to step forward.
Continuity: When Haley first gets into the tub filled with ice, her sports bra is black. Then they cut to a scene where the other girls were watching the sports news and then they switch back to the tub scene where Haley is getting out of the tub and her sports bra is now gray.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Haley and Joanne are arguing, Haley states that Dalmatians are born with spots. This is incorrect as Dalmatians are born white.
Errors in geography: Mountains are shown in several scenes - Neither Houston or Plano has mountains
Crew or equipment visible: When Haley and Burt are talking about how Chris DeFrank slept with Haley's mom, the shadow of equipment is visible on Burt's shirt.
Continuity: When Joanne is talking to Poot outside the gym after they went to the mall, her leotard is a certain pattern. But when she goes inside, the pattern has changed.
Continuity: When the coach is telling Haley how proud he is of her, Haley's hair flips from behind her shoulder to the front several times in that scene, from the different camera angles.
Crew or equipment visible: In the last shot of the scene when Haley is running back from the diner, the shadow of the camera can be seen from the street lights.
Crew or equipment visible: During Haley's nighttime run, the shadow of the boom and camera can be seen on the road every time they pass a street light.
Revealing mistakes: At the second competition (near the end of the film), a line of audio plays twice. The commentator's line about "consistency over flash rules the day" plays as the gymnasts are walking in and again right before Haley does her floor performance.
Factual errors: During the IG Classic Burt would not be allowed to stand where he was during the vaulting rotation. The judges would have moved him because they would not have been able to see the whole of the vault.
Revealing mistakes: Near the beginning of Wei Wei's beam routine one of the shots clearly shows the extra-wide beam they used to shoot the dance moves.
Continuity: When Haley, Wei Wei, and Mena are watching Tricia's balance beam routine, they change positions part way through the routine on the seats.
Continuity: When Mena is doing her final vault routine, the color of her bra strap showing is a light, white color. When she has received her score and is being congratulated by her teammates, the color of her bra strap is hot pink.
Revealing mistakes: During the final meet if you look beyond the first three rows of spectators the stands are clearly filled with dummies to make the arena look full. It becomes obvious when the real people are clapping and cheering and the dummies remain immobile.
Continuity: At the beginning of the movie, the skateboarder appears to have white rectangular pads on the soles of his feet. At a later point during the same routine, when he wipes out, they are not there.
Continuity: When Wei Wei is listening to her iPod in the competition you can clearly see that she is listening to an iPod mini. And when she goes to do her routine they zoom in on the iPod showing the song playing, and it has a picture of the album, and the quality of the graphic is different than that of the iPod mini, showing that the zoomed in on a different iPod.
Factual errors: Before Wei Wei's scene where she does here beam routine it shows her listening to a first generation iPod Mini. She looks down from the beam onto her screen, which shows a colored album photo to the song Gone Baby Gone, a feature which was not introduced until the iPod Nano on September 7th 2005 (of course the iPod Photo was the first iPod with a color display being released in late 2004).
Continuity: Haley puts on pants when she leaves the gym during the break in the IG Classic. When she is shown re-entering the gym and walking to the beam, her pants have disappeared. After the beam routine, she picks up her pants from a chair off to the side. How did they get there?
Continuity: When Haley Graham got in the truck with those two guys, the front window was very dirty. When they switched the camera position, all of sudden, the front window became crystal clear which in the back window of the car it still has "wash me" on it.
Continuity: At almost the end of the movie, when Joanne Charis does her scratch on stage, she pulls her bra strap out. A few seconds later, her bra straps are back in her leotard again.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): The movie is set in Texas, yet Haley's mother is inexplicably the only character with a Southern accent.
Factual errors: In gymnastics competitions at the level of the Nationals at the end of the film, competitors scores in the team and individual all-around competitions is how they qualify for the individual event finals. It is practically impossible to win the all-around and not qualify for event finals. Tricia won the all-around competition, but was not competing in at least 3 of the event finals, until she was inserted as an alternate in the beam finals. She could have also been an alternate in the floor finals, but that was never mentioned. Also, Elsie stated that the judges may have shut Haley out of the all-around but couldn't keep her out of the event finals. This is also wrong, since the judges could have deliberately scored her low enough to not qualify. Usually only 2 or 3 members of each team qualify for event finals, and the judges could have scored her low enough to rank 4th (since Burt had for gymnasts competing), barring a major deduction (e.g. a fall) or disqualification for one of her teammates.
Incorrectly regarded as goofs: The story line dictates that Hayley has been inactive in gymnastics for two years. Based on the results of her leaving Worlds, one would believe that walking out of the IG Classic would yield the same result, disqualification. Without an official result in a competition for two years, she is somehow qualified for the National Championships at the end of the film. However, USAG allows a gymnast to petition their way into a meet if they are for some reason unable to finish the qualifying meet. They use the score from the last FULL USAG Sanctioned meet that the gymnast competed in.
Revealing mistakes: When Haile scratches on vault, Anthem Part Two by Blink-182 starts playing. The word "f*ck" is not silenced the first time the chorus is played, but in the second verse and second chorus, it is silenced.
Revealing mistakes: When Burt Vickerman bounces of the trampoline after attempting a full and asks for 911 to be called, he is driven away in a fire engine, not an ambulance.
Revealing mistakes: In the opening scene, the house is clearly under construction. A house with no doorknobs would very likely not yet have an alarm.
