February was Women in Horror Recognition Month and there are plenty of women that we recognize in horror year round.
Consider the “Scream Queens” we all know and love—Michelle Bauer, Janet Leigh, Jamie Lee Curtis, Linnea Quigley, Marilyn Burns, Elsa Lanchester, Brinke Stevens, Camille Keaton, Sybil Danning, Ingrid Pitt, Barbara Steele, Fay Wray, and Beverly Garland.
But there are countless other women, actresses, writers, directors, who you may not know and don’t get proper recognition.
Here's a short list of some female directors that deserve to be mentioned.
Barbara Peters - Humanoids From The Deep (1980)
Katt Shea - Stripped To Kill (1987), Dance Of The Damned (1988), Poison Ivy (1992)
Ida Lupino - The Hitch Hiker (1953)
Elizabeth Fies - The Commune (2009)
Jennifer Chambers Lynch - Boxing Helena (1993)
Fran Robel Kuzui - Buffy The Vampire Slayer 1992)
Kei Fujiwara - Organ (1996)
Antonia Bird - Ravenous (1999)

Often cast as villains, he appeared in Goldfinger and The King and I
The actor Martin Benson, who has died aged 91, occupied a screen category filled in its time by Herbert Lom, with whom he acted on several occasions, and previously Conrad Veidt – that of the worldly, sophisticated, foreign villain. With jet-black hair, dark colouring and pronounced eyebrows on a thin face, he never seemed properly dressed without a tuxedo. As well as remaining furiously busy during six decades as an actor, he pursued several artistic disciplines.
Born into a Jewish family in London, he seemed briefly destined to become a pharmacist. As a gunner in the army during the seond world war, he organised entertainment for the troops, and produced a tour of Gaslight in aid of a fund to replace Hms Dorsetshire. By 1944, he had been promoted to captain and was posted to Alexandria, Egypt, where he built a theatre from scratch,...

Google's revealed it's working on extensions to its smartphone voice-control powers, debuted in the Nexus One, that'll automatically translate between languages. It's the stuff of pure utopian science fiction. But is it a good idea?
Google's plans are to enhance the remote server-processed speech recognition systems in the Nexus One to include automatic, fast and accurate machine translation between languages, with a synthetic voice output.
Sci-fi fans will of course immediately associate this idea with two classics of the genre: The Star Trek Universal Translator (a handy way of explaining away different language issues between alien races) and the Babel Fish, fabulous creation from the mind behind The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Douglas Adams. Both things essentially do the same task--they automatically translate what other people say to a person in alien tongues into their own language, and do the same back when the user speaks aloud.
