‘Baywatch’ alumni Pamela Anderson has joined Liam Neeson in the forthcoming reboot of ‘Naked Gun’.
The movie is based on the ‘Naked Gun’ movie franchise which starred Leslie Nielsen as Lt. Frank Drebin. The original franchise was created by the creators of Paramount’s ‘Airplane!’, namely Jim Abrahams, David Zucker, and Jerry Zucker. The Naked Gun trilogy was released during the early 1990s and was a big hit at the domestic box office, grossing over $216 million. Similar to Airplane!, the Naked Gun film series was famous for its outrageous parody, ridiculous set-ups, and on-screen sight gags.

Exclusive: Leslie Nielsen’s Lt. Frank Drebin was wrong: Cops and women do mix, and with that we have Pamela Anderson joining Liam Neeson in Paramount Pictures’ untitled Naked Gun reboot, which Akiva Schaffer is directing and executive producing for a July 18, 2025 theatrical release.
The Baywatch actress of 110 episodes has the comedy chops; she’s starred in such big-screen titles as Scary Movie 3 and Superhero Movie, both satirical movies ala the spirit of Naked Gun. Anderson also reprised her TV role of C.J. Parker in Paramount’s big-screen 2017 redux of Baywatch that starred Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron and Alexandra Daddario.
Dan Gregor and Doug Mand wrote the draft script along with Schaffer for Naked Gun. Gregor and Mand also wrote the Emmy-winning Disney+ movie Chip ‘N Dale: Rescue Rangers. Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins are producing Naked via their company Fuzzy Door. Daniel M. Stillman is EP.

The animated TV series Teen Titans, based on the eponymous DC Comics superhero team, premiered in July 2013 released to generally positive reviews from both critics and audiences. Over the years, it gained a significant fan following for its unique storytelling, character development, and blend of action, humor, and drama.
A still from Teen Titans
Teen Titans was different from other superhero shows in many ways, but the one that stood out the most was probably the fact that the show was not made with the usually popular characters in focus. Besides, it featured a character with no superpowers as the leader of a superhero show. As contradictory as it is, the show creator Glen Murakami explained his reasons for doing this.

It's been more than 10 years since the world was subjected to the last "Scary Movie" sequel, but as is the case with any famous horror movie villain, it's practically impossible to keep this series down forever. And now Paramount Pictures plans to breathe new life into this particular franchise. The studio will be teaming up with Miramax to resurrect the "Scary Movie" franchise with a brand new installment. Production begins this fall, and the film will be in theaters in 2025.
Variety reports that producer Neal H. Moritz, who is best known for producing the "Fast and Furious" movies for Universal, will be producing this new iteration. Moritz was not directly associated with any of the previous five "Scary Movie" films, but interestingly, he did produce a couple of horror flicks that were parodied in those early versions, including "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and "Urban Legend." Disney CEO Bob Iger has scheduled several ambitious slates including MCU’s one of the most anticipated movies of the year, Deadpool & Wolverine. While several superhero movies, mostly outside the MCU, have faced a dire phenomenon called superhero fatigue, Iger has planned a remedy for that to keep the Marvel slates safe.

The Disney boss has been spending time with the Marvel filmmakers, watching the movies, keeping notes, and creating room for improvements in a respective way by suggesting his insights. Still, Iger is more conscious about decision-making, he would not hesitate to kill projects they struggle to have faith in.

These days it's strange to think of Marvel struggling to outdo DC at the box office. But believe it or not, there was a time when the latter was the undisputed champ of superhero filmmaking. Director Richard Donner kicked off that winning streak with 1978's "Superman," the film that provided the blueprint for the modern blockbuster. Next, Tim Burton solidified DC's box office prowess with 1989's "Batman" — a film that made a heck of a lot of money at the box office and established the principles of modern blockbuster marketing.
Meanwhile, Marvel had this comparatively abject filmography to offer: 1986's "Howard the Duck," 1989's "The Punisher," and the direct-to-video "Captain America" in 1990. By the time DC and Warner Bros.' "Batman Forever" hit in 1995 and made $336 million globally (an impressive number for the time) it seemed DC would rule the superhero blockbuster space for a long time to come.

Fun trivia: one of the working titles for Wes Craven's 1996 slasher satire "Scream" was "Scary Movie." Filmmaker Keenan Ivory Wayans got wind of this trivia, and decided in 2000 to make a film called "Scary Movie" intended to satirize the popularity of "Scream." The late 1990s were a curious time in popular culture, as there weren't too many dominant horror trends. Popular music was beginning to comment on its own self-awareness (see: "Flagpole Sitta") and irony became ironic. Self-reflection went from a healthy Socratic exercise into a loop of eternal recurrence. By 2000, we became so busy commenting on our own commentaries, that it was hard to see where we started. This is where "Scary Movie" dropped in.
Make no mistake, "Scary Movie" is unfunny, as are its many sequels. They're cheap, homophobic, and vulgar. Wayans took his model from spoof filmmakers like Zucker/Abrahams/Zucker, but aimed to make something...

The holiday movie season this year is packed with many options, much like other years have displayed. However, despite the bevy of titles, including Wonka, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, The Color Purple, Migration, Anyone But You and The Iron Claw, they weren’t enough to garner interest in audiences to flock to theaters around Christmastime. Without the year’s biggest double-feature event with Barbie and Oppenheimer, it could have been a worse showing for theaters as even the reliable blockbusters like the Mission: Impossible, Superhero, and Fast & Furious franchises would flop. It’s almost fitting that 2023 ends with a whimper.
Deadline has recently reported on the lackluster continued performance of the box office this week. Wonka stays on top as it is revealed, “On Wednesday, it was Warner Bros.’ Wonka that won the day with $8 million at 4,213 theaters, moving its running cume to $102.5M on its 13th day.

Among the sixty screen acting roles Regina Hall has racked up over the last couple decades are appearances in four of the five films in the Scary Movie horror spoof franchise. Now The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Hall is returning to horror comedy territory, signing on to star in writer/director Jim Strouse’s Breitenbush.

The result was "Chernobyl," and the five-part series received 19 nominations at the Primetime Emmy Awards, winning for Outstanding Limited Series,...
