The littlest cast member of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Jodelle Ferland, is no newcomer to the film world. You might remember her as "Jeliza-Rose" in Tideland and "Sharon" in Silent Hill. Of course, she's been in quite a few other pictures over the years as well, including Good Luck Chuck, The Messengers (with Kristen Stewart), and Seed. One of her films, Wonderful World with Matthew Broderick and Sanaa Lathan, opens in theaters on January 8th, according to MTV, and a clip of Jodelle Ferland's performance a »

Beverly Hills, California — Dating all the way back to names like Judy Garland, Mickey Rooney, Fatty Arbuckle, Shirley Temple and the Little Rascals, it seems like young overnight Hollywood sensations have been around for as long as Edward Cullen has been a vampire. Some have navigated the choppy waters of fame and gone on to great careers (Jodie Foster, Johnny Depp), while others (Jan-Michael Vincent, Lindsay Lohan) haven't been so lucky.

In the past year, names like Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner have been splashed across supermarket tabloids, "hot" lists and paparazzi-stalking itineraries. But when we recently caught up with Stewart to discuss the stars' upcoming return in "New Moon," she insisted that A-level fame isn't really as bad as it's sometimes made out to be. »

Original "The Ring" Director to Hear "Voice From the Stone"

7 November 2009 10:35 AM, PST | Manny the Movie Guy | See recent Manny the Movie Guy news »

Hideo Nakata is set to direct the supernatural thriller "Voice From the Stone." Nakata directed the original Japanese version of "The Ring" ("Ringu") and the English sequel "The Ring Two" starring Naomi Watts.

Mark Wheaton ("The Messengers," "Friday the 13th") has written the screenplay based on an Italian novel of the same name. The story revolves around a female child psychologist who takes on the case of a young boy who made a promise to his dying mother. The promise? He will remain silent until her spirit returns. Tan dan dan...

Nakata is the perfect choice to helm this project. "Voice From the Stone" has a strong female character and a perturbed young boy at its core, much like "The Ring" films with Watts' Rachel protecting her young son Aidan (David Dorfman). »

Nakata Wrings The Voice From The Stone

6 November 2009 5:24 AM, PST | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

Hideo Nakata, the scariest man in Japan, is back to his usual spooky, pant-wetting tricks with the news that he's to direct Voice From the Stone, a supernatural thriller based on an Italian cult classic novel. The plot involves a female psychologist as she starts a case concerning a boy who won't speak - supposedly because of a promise he made to his recently deceased mother not to utter a word until 'her spirit returns'.We're not sure what that means or how exactly your spirit might return (Self-addressed coffin? Shaped as boomerang?)  but it has something to do with the psychologist being inhabited by the mother's ghost, someway, somehow. We'll have to find out once the film's released, or buy the novel it was originally based on, which was written for the screen by Mark Wheaton, writer of Friday The 13th and The Messengers. It will be produced by »

Hundreds of films concerning little girls dressed in white with long black hair later, the man himself is ready to spin another ghostly tale.

Variety reports that Nakata has signed on to direct Zanuck Independent's supernatural thriller Voice from the Stone.

The film will be based on the Italian cult novel of the same name, and the story centers upon a female psychologist who takes on the case of a young boy who made a promise to his dying mother to remain silent until her spirit returns. Palisades Tartan’s Asian Horror: Essential Collection Review

30 October 2009 3:34 PM, PDT | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Just in time for Halloween, Palisades Tartan has grouped together three of the most successful Asian horror films of recent years in one region 2 DVD collection. Although terms such as ‘essential’ are woefully overused when it comes to such compilations, in this case it certainly rings true, as the three titles are arguably among the most important and influential examples of the modern Asian genre – not least since two of them have been the subject of markedly less successful Hollywood remakes. The films in question, “Audition”, “Dark Water” and “The Eye” also provide a showcase for three highly acclaimed directors in the ever prolific Takashi Miike (still best known in the West for his infamous “Ichi the Killer”), The Pang Brothers (who recently headed for the Us themselves with “The Messengers” and a remake of their own “Bangkok Dangerous”) and Hideo Nakata, whose “Ringu” launched the new wave of Eastern horror. »

While we have yet to confirm this (so please take it as rumor for now), we're being told that John Carpenter will be getting behind the camera for Fangland, a film set up as a starring vehicle for Oscar winner Hilary Swank (The Reaping). Happy birthday to 'Eclipse' star Jodelle Ferland and (belated) to 'New Moon' star Noot Seear!

9 October 2009 8:39 AM, PDT | Twilight Examiner | See recent Twilight Examiner news »

Today, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse star Jodelle Ferland celebrates her 15th birthday. Ferland, though not long in the tooth, has had a very prolific and successful career in films and television. She started acting at the far-from-ripe age of five years old in the television series Cold Squad. Since then, Ferland has appeared in films such as Tideland, Silent Hill, The Messengers, Good Luck Chuck, and Case 39. She has also appeared in television shows like Kingdom Hospital, Masters Of Horror, and Smallville. Though she is best known, like her friend and Eclipse co-star Cameron Bright, for her "young but creepy" .. October 5th, The Twilight Saga: New Moon actress Noot Seear turned 26. She, a long-term, successful model-turned-actress, has just recently made her way into the realm of films (though she did also appear on an episode of Cold Squad as well). With her great »

Opening Case 39

5 October 2009 9:19 AM, PDT | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

The plot device of adults protecting children is a time-honored subject in horror films. An omnipresent evil plotting and casting its inky tendrils toward the young and innocent has been seen in films as diverse as John Schlesinger’s Santeria-inflected The Believers, the Dean Koontz adaptation The Servants Of Twilight and Chuck Russell’s misguided Bless The Child. The defense of youth inspires the most protective of emotions in audiences, and the latest film to tap into these specific emotions is Paramount’s supernatural thriller Case 39.

Directed by German up-and-comer Christian Alvart, who first attracted attention with his serial-murder saga Antibodies and subsequently helmed this fall’s sci-fi chiller Pandorum, from a script by Pulse’s Ray Wright, Case 39 stars Oscar-winner Renee Zellweger, Deadwood’s Ian McShane and ubiquitous young actress Jodelle Ferland. After numerous delays (and release in numerous other international territories this winter), the film will open in U. »

Weinstein Company Puts Halloween 3 On Hold

30 September 2009 12:00 PM, PDT | WorstPreviews.com | See recent Worst Previews news »

The Weinstein Company has recently revealed that Rob Zombie will not return for the third "Halloween" film and that "My Bloody Valentine 3D" director Patrick Lussier has been hired to replace him. Since Lussier is obligated to begin filming "Drive Angry" (starring Nicolas Cage) in January, the goal was to rush the new 3D installment and have it be ready to hit theaters next year. Now comes news that the studio received the first draft from Todd Farmer (Jason X, The Messengers) and has decided to stop all pre-production work for "Halloween 3." The goal now is to slow everything down and wait for Lussier to complete his other project in order to have more time for new Michael Myers film. This does not mean that The Weinstein Company has abandoned the franchise. It's actually the exact opposite. "We make those pics for very little money and tight marketing dollars so »

Halloween 3D Gets Writer and Director

21 September 2009 11:05 AM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Bloody Disgusting received confirmation that Patrick Lussier, the My Bloody Valentine 3D director and editor of numerous Wes Craven films has officially signed on to direct Halloween 3D.  You can exhale now.  Lussier’s former colleague Todd Farmer (who wrote My Bloody Valentine 3D) has signed on to pen the newest installment of the Halloween franchise.  So if you loved My Bloody Valentine 3D, chances are you’re all set for Halloween 3D (brought to you by Dimension Films).

To recap my earlier post on Halloween 3D, this will be the eleventh film in the horror franchise that has grossed more than $300Mm worldwide, was started under the direction of John Carpenter and most recently rebooted by Rob Zombie.  The franchise has largely (although not exclusively) followed psycho killer Michael Myers through his Halloween night killing sprees.

Farmer knows his way around a scary-movie script, having written Jason X, The Messengers (the story for it, »

Nicolas Cage in Drive Angry 3-D Thriller

31 August 2009 2:30 PM, PDT | WorstPreviews.com | See recent Worst Previews news »

Nicolas Cage has signed on to star in "Drive Angry," a revenge action movie that Patrick Lussier (My Bloody Valentine 3-D) will direct for Millenium Films. Written by Lussier and Todd Farmer (Jason X, The Messengers), the story centers on a man (Cage) driven by rage who is chasing the people who killed his daughter and kidnapped her baby. The vendetta/rescue spins out of control as the chase gets bloodier by the mile, leaving bodies strewn along the highway. Production is set to begin in April in Louisiana. Similar to Lussier's "Valentine" film, "Drive Angry" will also be in 3-D. »

Nicolas Cage will Drive Angry

31 August 2009 2:48 AM, PDT | Corona's Coming Attractions | See recent Corona's Coming Attractions news »

Nicolas Cage will be making his first 3-D movie and he's really, really angry about it. The man will play the main character in Drive Angry, a thriller with grindhouse story elements to its storyline.

In the film Cage will play a father who just saw his daughter killed and her baby kidnapped by the movie's villains. For whatever reason it's up to only Cage's character to pursue the bad guys as they speed down a highway, trying to elude their pursuer who is now in a white hot rage to deliver revenge upon them. As the chase intensifies there apparently will be lots of bloody collateral damage as other motorists get caught up in the mayhem and vehicles crash out of control. With a plotline like that it I certainly hope that the filmmakers go all-out and just embrace the crazyness of the concept, and c'mon, if you've seen »

Dustin Milligan can't escape Kristen Stewart. Milligan worked with the "Twilight" star in "The Messengers" and "In the Land of Women," and he revealed recently that he also angled for the role of Edward Cullen.

"I did my best Edward Cullen," Milligan told "Access Hollywood," jokingly adding, "But, unfortunately, I didn't have a British accent, so I didn't get the job!"

After Milligan's revelation, we decided to delve into the MTV News archives to find out what it was like for the "90210" star to work with Stewart twice in the past. We tracked down a 2005 interview with the actor, in which he had only kind words for his co-star.

"She's a really smart young woman," he said on the set of "The Messengers. »

In 2005, Kristen Stewart was busy filming the horror flick "The Messengers," and it seemed like she was already starting to embrace her dark side. Now, she's better known as Bella Swan, the girl in a love triangle with a werewolf and a vampire.

Recently, she told MTV News how emotionally distraught she was making "New Moon," thanks to its intense plot points. During the making of "The Messengers," Stewart was already establishing herself as a serious actress who could feel the emotions of the character she's playing.

"I think about the situations the character is in," she told MTV News on the "Messengers" set. "The situations that the character I play is in are scary enough."

Could Stewart relate to her character's spooky experiences? »
