Hands Of Stone is an upcoming Roberto Duran biopic which comes from writer/director Jonathan Jakubowicz. But what definitely sounds awesome is that Robert De Niro and Edgar Ramirez are both set to star in this project! Things are pretty clear – Ramirez is on board to play Panamanian boxer and De Niro will play his trainer Ray Arcel. So, written and directed by Jakubowicz, Hands Of Stone is based on the life of boxing champ Robert Duran, and the movie will focuse on how each man changed the life of the other. According to Deadline, the story is set during boxing’s Golden Era, when: …Duran...

While "Midnight In Paris" is still rolling out in theaters across the country, Woody Allen is already at work on his next film set to shoot this summer in Rome, continuing his diligent one-movie-per-year work ethic that has persisted for four decades. With Jesse Eisenberg, Ellen Page, Alec Baldwin, Penelope Cruz, Judy Davis and Maricel Álvarez already on board, some Italian thesps have now joined the picture. Variety reports that Riccardo Scamarcio (star of the recent Cannes hit "Polisse" and the Italian box office hit "Manual Of Love" series), Isabella Ferrari (probably best known for her role on the Italian…...

Clint Eastwood is currently shooting his J. Edgar Hoover biography called J. Edgar, with Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role and Armie Hammer in the key secondary role of Hoover colleague and reported lover Clyde Tolson. Even as the film shoots it is adding cast members to fill out ancillary roles. The latest addition is Stephen Root, a character actor that is always a pleasure to see on screen. (You can see him right now doing great work in Cedar Rapids.) Mr. Root will play Arthur Koehler, "an introverted man and wood specialist who helps J. Edgar Hoover piece together the mystery of the Lindbergh kidnapping case through an examination of the ladder used by the abductor." Trailers are an under-appreciated art form insofar that many times they’re seen as vehicles for showing footage, explaining films away, or showing their hand about what moviegoers can expect. Foreign, domestic, independent, big budget: I celebrate all levels of trailers and hopefully this column will satisfactorily give you a baseline of what beta wave I’m operating on, because what better way to hone your skills as a thoughtful moviegoer than by deconstructing these little pieces of advertising? Some of the best authors will tell you that writing a short story is a lot harder than writing a long one, that you have to weigh every sentence. What better medium to see how this theory plays itself out beyond that than with movie trailers? When do a lot of people start to care about the third film in an Italian romance series? When one of the stories within features Robert De Niro as a divorced American professor romancing Monica Bellucci during a stay in Rome. We talked about Manual of Love 3 when the two actors were cast in the film [1], and now there's a trailer featuring their characters. See it after the break. As in the first two installments of this series, the film is built out of a small collection of standalone stories, so don't worry about not having caught the previous installments. Neither of the first two films got theatrical distribution in the Us, and I'm not sure they've ever been on DVD here. With Robert De Niro and Monica Bellucci involved in this one, however, there's a much better chance that it'll hit our shores. Italian audiences will see it on...

Why did Robert De Niro and Monica Bellucci decide to shoot an Italian-language romantic comedy that is the third in its trilogy overseas? That is a question you may be asking yourself right now and we don’t have an answer, but we do have proof that it did happen. The film is actually a series of vignettes about romance. Why should Robert De Niro be this lucky? He's signed on to be in Manual of Love 3, the third chapter in an Italian romantic drama/comedy series. Rome -- The world's oldest film festival gets underway for the 67th time Wednesday, this time with an unusually Italian feel to it.
The relative youth of the directors represented in competition (average age: 47), or the relatively small budgets of the main films set to screen (because of the economic crisis) have received plenty of attention internationally. But in Italy, attention has focused on how well represented the country's films are at the storied event.
All told, 41 Italian films will screen in the festival's four official selections, almost double the 22 that screened a year ago. Four -- generally considered the unofficial limit for homegrown productions – will screen in competition, and the festival will also host a special sidebar on Italian comedy for the half century ending in the 1980s.

On the day after his sixty-seventh birthday veteran method actor Robert De Niro shows no sign of slowing down as The Wrap are reporting that he is in final negotiations to join the cast of Italian director Giovanni Veronesi’s next feature, Manual of Love 3, the final instalment of a trilogy (part’s one and two having been made in 2005 and 2007, respectively).
The part requires De Niro to speak Italian, but I’m sure after playing the lead in Bernardo Bertolucci’s 1976 epic 1900 (which clocks in at 315 min!) he’ll only require a quick refresher course on the language.
The former Taxi Driver can be next seen as part of the weird and wonderful ensemble in Robert Rodriguez’s ‘mex’ploitation flick Machete.

Variety just announced that Robert De Niro will star in the third installment in the wildly popular Italian romantic comedy Manual of Love series. While none of the entries in the series have been released in the Us, both were big hits in the domestic box office, featuring big local comedians like Carlo Verdone.
For those that don't have an interest in contemporary Italian cinema, it should be noted that the Italian film industry is notoriously insular. Meaning not only is it not surprising that most Americans are only hearing of this franchise now that Travis Bickle has joined the cast of the third entry, but also that neither Manuale D'Amore 3 nor its two predecessors will ever likely be released States-side.

It will be De Niro's first foreign-language venture since 1976, when he starred in Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci's 1900.

Hollywoodnews.com: I might be the only person who enjoyed Robert De Niro in last year’s tearjerker, “Everything’s Fine.”
And I’d prefer to see him in challenging emotional dramas instead of watching him run back to the “Meet” well for “Little Fockers.”
So the news that De Niro is eyeing a romance film titled “Manual of Love 3” is encouraging.
Latino Review reports that De Niro will play a divorced American professor living in Rome. The part requires De Niro to speak Italian, but I doubt that will be an issue for the seasoned actor.
The site reports that “Love” begins shooting in September for a 2011 release. Giovanni Veronesi will direct.
In the meantime, the former “Raging Bull” has “Fockers” on the calendar for December, and a part in Robert Rodriguez’s “Machete,” which opens on Sept. 3.

Actor Robert De Niro is gearing up to be part of the cast for the Italian romance film "Manual of Love 3". The role he'll be playing is a divorced American professor living in Rome. Yes, he'll have to be speaking Italian for almost half of the time he's on screen. Yeah, my mind shot over to "The Godfather 2" as well, wonderful film. Anyways, principal photography begins on September 24th and hopefully the film will be out sometime late next year overseas. Giovanni Veronesi, the director of the first two features from this franchise, will be taking on the third piece. Apparently De Niro's last brush with working on a foreign film is "1900", a Bernardo Bertolucci drama that came out in 1976. That's quite a gap in between foreign films. You have a couple of options of how and when you want to see De Niro in theaters soon. The first is...

Robert De Niro's last film, the sappy and unfocused Everybody's Fine, was a remake of a similarly sappy Italian film. Since that experiment didn't exactly pay off-- the movie made under $10 million in its entire run-- he'll be honoring his Italian roots in a different way this time, by actually starring in an Italian-language film. Variety reports that he's taken a role in Manual of Love 3, which isn't the porn you think it is but instead a series of vignettes about people experiencing romance. The first two films were fair-sized hits in Italy, kind of like what New York, I Love You would have been if anyone had actually seen it. De Niro will be playing an divorced American professor now living in Rome ,and apparently the role will call for him to speak Italian, which hopefully he still remembers from Godfather II. We'll next be seeing De Niro...

ROME -- In some much needed good news for the Italian film sector, an indigenous Italian film rose above its Hollywood rivals in boxoffice take over the weekend for the first time this year, according to national boxoffice tracking agency Cinetel on Monday. Giovanni Veronesi's romantic comedy Manuale D'Amore (Love's Manual), which stars Carlo Verdone and Silvio Muccino, pulled in 2.8 million ($3.7 million), easily bumping off last week's leader Sony Pictures' Hitch, which had a weekend take of $1.3 million. In third place was the Jim Carrey starrer Lemony Snicket, which pulled in $610,000 over the weekend. And while a small victory for the Italians, any good news is welcome at a time when the industry has been battling a series of depressing figures. Cinetel said overall ticket sales in Italy are down 11% to date with respect to 2005.
