I'm just going to be brief and tell you exactly why I loved this movie., 30 August 2006

I'm hoping the way I see movies will give these reviews a new perspective. Visually, the movie was simply amazing. Forget everything about the plot (which is your basic romance with a little gangster action/climax and resolution plot) and focus on how they styled the movie. I would call it eccentric vintage. I really could care less about how the actors connect with each other on film, if they did or did not, I never noticed. But if you can appreciate unique camera angles and quirky graphic effects that can really give a movie it's character, then you'll love it. I'm sure it's pretty difficult to have a movie stand out in your mind by giving it such character, or at least it doesn't happen enough to seem easily achieved. If you liked Miami Vice because it was video-game like and Amelie because it was so quirky and Reqiuem For A Dream because it was so pulsating, than Idlewild should be next on your list. I mean, haven't you already seen Invincible a hundred times over just with a different title?
