Queen Latifah is warm and winning as a meek sales clerk diagnosed with an insurable disease who decides to live her final days to their fullest in this amiable but awkward romantic comedy. The subdued and soft-spoken woman opens to live large -- just like the Queen Latifah we expect -- in a spare-no-expense vacation at a Karlovy winter resort. Director Wayne Wang stumbles through the awkward script without finding its shape or its tone, but thanks to Latifah, at least you’re in amiable company. LL Cool J, Timothy Hutton and Gérard Depardieu co-star.
