A Nation turns its lonely eyes to you - Woo Woo Woo
Like crafting a beautiful, tragic opera, the creators of this documentary did a terrific job of bringing together elements about the boy who grows up from nowhere to become a national hero in the fickle landscape of American Culture. He had superman athletic abilities over the peers of his time. He had great looks and charm. Everyone wanted to be like him and be around him. To paraphrase the commentator, "Everyone who looked at him liked what they saw and it made us feel good." But what's this push-and-pull going on inside you Joe? Is it related to perfection vs. inner peace? Further, the great and complicated man (and he looked like the most graceful and tallest ship in the fleet – maybe that's why they called him the "Yankee Clipper") was not comfortable about such trivial things as giving his wives (What?! There was someone else other than MM?!) some essential elements in the partnership of marriage - no, we're not talking about the physical stuff. You'll have to watch to find out.
Oh well Joe, we can't be perfect but we still love you and this story shows that. When you watch this story I bet you'll fall in love with the Spatola sisters and you'll be delighted to hear Joe's thoughts about Paul Simon as he sang, "Where have you gone Joe Di Maggio? A nation turns its lonely eyes "
