Another Marvel character will get his day in the cineplex in 2011, when Luke Cage comes to theaters. John Singleton is loosely tied to the project as the director and Tyrese Gibson is even more loosely connected as Cage, a New York-based crimefighter blessed with superhuman strength. Unlike Albert Pujols, there's no reason to assume Cage is juiced.
He's basically as strong as you'd need him to be; Marvel.com says he can lift 25 tons, which, as you can imagine, comes in really handy in a fight. Cage has been affiliated with a number of Marvel groups over the years, and is linked to with Daredevil. We don't know yet exactly what ground the movie will cover.
Football player-turned actor Brian J. White has now thrown his hat into the ring, even though Tyrese is probably a better fit physically and a more well-known name. “I think I have the skill-set" White told Moviehole this week. »

Over two years ago, Tyrese Gibson revealed that a script for a Luke Cage feature film was being written and that he and director John Singleton (Boyz n the Hood, Four Brothers) were on standby to begin working on the project. Obviously nothing has happened. Now, actor/former NFL player Brian J. White (Doa: Dead or Alive, Fighting) has revealed that he would love to be considered for the lead in a Cage film, if it ever gets off the ground. "I would love to be Luke Cage," he told Moviehole. "I've been saying it over and over again in the press for years! Those are the roles - Green Lantern, Green Hornet, Luke Cage. There's some other graphic novels . some horror ones . that I also like, but I really would love to do Luke Cage." He continued: "I think I have the skill-set. Like Iron Man, you have to »

While this week ended on a somber note with the deaths of both Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett, there were a few positive notes in this week’s headlines.
But that doesn’t mean everything was rosy on the comic book movie front, though.
- In our top story of the week, Christian Bale expressed some doubt about the likelihood of seeing another Batman movie, depressing legions of Bat-fans everywhere.
- Even though other movie media outlets keep proclaiming that there’s no interest in another “Unbreakable” movie, M. Night Shyamalan’s comments regarding his interest in a sequel generated a lot of interest from readers, too — to the tune of our second most popular story of the week!
- Bad news, guys — Megan Fox will only have a cameo in “Jonah Hex.” However, she will still be wearing that outfit.
… But wait, there’s more!

This weekend Tyrese Gibson will be seen as one of the many human failing to kill Decepticons in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, but you'll really start hearing about him later this summer, when he prepares to release his first-ever comic book Mayhem. I talked to Tyrese yesterday about Mayhem and a little bit about Transformers, but he also gave me updates on the many projects we've heard his name attached to over the last few months. Will he play B.A. Baracus in the A-Team movie? Will he be Luke Cage? How about Captain America? The answer to all of these, and pretty much any other comic book character you can name, is "probably not." "I'm not attached to any comic book roles right now," he told me in our phone interview. "But they do have me in mind for a few of them, which I'm honored that they »

Earlier this year, “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” star Tyrese Gibson announced plans to create his own comic book series, “Mayhem,” about a gun-slinging vigilante battling with a crime lord for control of Los Angeles.
MTV News caught up with Gibson during a recent “Transformers” press event, and along with sharing a few more details about “Mayhem,” the actor also mentioned that he was still waiting for movement on the long-rumored “Luke Cage” movie, as well as word on a potential role in — get ready for this — Marvel’s upcoming movie “The First Avenger: Captain America.”
“The energy from Comic-Con really did something to me,” Gibson told MTV News of what prompted him to try his hand at comics. “Instead of me sitting back and waiting on ‘Luke Cage’ to finally happen — which I’m still looking forward to doing once they get the script together — and instead of me waiting on ‘Captain America, »

An Update on Marvel Studios' upcoming superhero films has been given by president of production Kevin Feige at a conference in Culver City, California.
Feige told the conference that the failure of the Warner Bros film Batman and Robin in 1997 was seen as a turning point for comic book movie adaptations and led to them being treated more seriously.
He then gave updates on Marvel's scheduled film slate up to 2012, which consists so far of Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers.
Feige also told us the latest on the proposed Ant-Man movie and then mentioned a surprise superhero film project.
Read on for all the details...
The key points in Feige's presentation were:
Iron Man 2 (May 7, 2010): The studio looked at successful sequels and decided they worked well because "they told a relativity simple story so they could focus on the characters and crack open the mythology instead. »

Vin Diesel is to star in a live-action film adaptation of the Ubisoft video game Wheelman, which launched last month with the actor as its producer and central character.
Paramount Pictures has hired John Singleton to direct the movie, with Lorenzo di Bonaventura as producer, reports Variety. The screenplay is by Rich Wilkes (who penned Diesel's 2002 film xXx), Oliver Butcher and Stephen Cornwell.
Diesel will play an expert driver who comes out of retirement to protect a woman from his past.
Singleton previously directed the Shaft remake in 2000, along with 2 Fast 2 Furious, the sequel to Diesel's 2001 flick The Fast and the Furious.
Singleton is also set to direct Marvel comic book adaptation Luke Cage, about a man who - after a medical experiment - gains superhuman strength and bulletproof skin and becomes a hero for hire. Tyrese Gibson is set to star in the title role. It's the character from »

Tyrese Gibson was spotted last night in Hollywood having dinner with Avi Arad, the Hollywood mega-producer and CEO of Marvel Studios, the company behind such blockbusters like Iron Man, X-men, Fantastic Four, Spider-man, and the upcoming Wolverine. News of their meeting is apparently an air-tight secret and has all of Hollywood and the comic book world speculating. Gibson has been rumored to play Luke Cage, but what else does Marvel have in store for the star of the upcoming Transformers 2: Revenge Of The Fallen? Is it possible Tyrese will be The Black Panther? Or another Marvel hero?
After digging into it myself, I found some potentially juicy news. Recently, Tyrese unveiled his new comic book Mayhem at a party in Downtown Los Angeles that had both Hollywood and comic book elites in attendance. Confirmed at the event were Michael Bay, Taraji P. Henson, Tila Tiquila and many of »
