Comedy specialist Harold Ramis (Groundhog Day) brings understated humor to this low-key heist thriller starring John Cusack and Billy Bob Thornton as the small-time schemers dangerously out of their depth. This incarnation, set on Christmas Eve in a series of sleazy Wichita strip clubs and upscale bars frequented by corrupt politicians, has the usual ingredients: a heist, a seductive femme fatale (Connie Nielsen), a brutal mob boss (Randy Quaid) and a getaway hampered by twists of fate and the machinations of backstabbing schemers.
