On 12th July 2018 the BBC announced major changes to its political and parliamentary programming as part of major cost cutting at BBC News. Among the changes announced was that The Daily Politics would be replaced by a new programme entitled Politics Live broadcast Monday to Friday. The national Sunday Politics programme has been axed but regional versions of that programme will continue.
