Outcry Over Gossip Girl Threesome

20 minutes ago | PopStar | See recent PopStar news »

Public outcry was heard around the world when news leaked that Gossip Girl (TV) was going to air an episode where cast regulars were involved in a threesome. The promos looked juicy, sexy, and provocative, which is why one group is calling for The CW to pull the episode. We've got both sides of the story here for you today, so before you make up your mind on the new OM3 trailers, hear both sides. It's all over the news; parents are outraged and viewers are keyed up for what looks like a promising episode of Gossip Girl (TV). The Parents Television Council is asking the CW to preempt OM3 due to its graphic content and in a recent statement scoured, "To include a storyline like this on a program that is expressly targeted to impressionable teenagers is reckless and irresponsible. We are asking each CW Network affiliate to use »

Gossip Girl Protest May Backfire

43 minutes ago | Studio Briefing - TV News | See recent Studio Briefing - TV News news »

Efforts by the Parents Television Council and other religious and family groups to persuade affiliates of the CW to refuse to carry tonight's (Monday) episode of Gossip Girl have apparently fallen on deaf ears. The Los Angeles Times reported today that not a single affiliate has agreed to drop the episode (nor has any advertiser done so) and that in fact the protest by the PTC will likely have the effect of boosting ratings for the show, which has seen a major decline this season. According to the newspaper the protest has drawn more attention than usual to the episode, which has strongly hinted that it will involve a threesome among major characters. "This story is organic to the characters and it's handled in a responsible way," Dawn Ostroff, the CW's entertainment president, told the Times. Executive producer Josh Schwartz promised more controversial material before the end of the season. »

'Gossip Girl' threesome: Will you watch tonight?

47 minutes ago | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

Tonight is the much-hyped threesome episode of Gossip Girl and I'm totally tuning in for all the menage a trois action (I sorta have to because I write the recap but I would anyways!). All of this controversy over the threesome, though, is a little ridiculous. First of all, Gg has always pushed boundaries so this doesn't really feel like anything new (Remember the uproar over the network's "Omfg" ads for the series?). Second, most of the characters on the show are now college-age and I think we all did some crazy things at that time in our lives (I »

Leighton Meester's "Somebody to Love" Video - Silly or Steamy?

1 hour ago | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

Leighton Meester is apparently focusing hard on her singing career with special performances and new singles. You guys are already loving her song "Somebody to Love," and she just released a video that shows her scantily-clad and hitting clubs and hotel rooms with costar Robin Thicke. It's a little confusing to see Leighton as both buttoned-up Blair on Gossip Girl and as a slightly risqué singer, so check out the video below and tell us - is Leighton's video for "Somebody to Love" silly or steamy? Leighton Meester's "Somebody to Love" Video - Silly or Steamy? Silly - It's still so weird to see Blair sing. Steamy - All that dancing and singing was definitely hot! »

Four of the top eight DVR'd shows for Week 5 were hour-longs from ABC. The highly controversial "Gossip Girl" threesome is about to go down on Monday night's (November 9) episode of the saucy teen soap. And, with so many of the cast being possible suspects in the naughty storyline, it's only a matter of time before we know who hooks up. And with Ed Westwick's Chuck Bass already having shared a kiss with a guy on the show, the threesome will probably be even more provocative.

Penn Badgley recently threw his name into the threesome ring when he teased to MTV News that he was willing to do it with the other two male hotties on the show: Westwick and Chace Crawford, if need be. "I can't tell you that," he said, jokingly adding, "Hypothetically, it's all three guys."

Threesome Complaints May Only Help Gossip Girl

4 hours ago | newser.com | See recent newser news »

The CW might want to write a thank-you note to the Parents Television Council: All of its moaning about tonight’s Gossip Girl threesome is serving as free publicity for the show, which may just help boost its sagging ratings. No ads have been pulled and no affiliates are boycotting, the Los Angeles Times reports—and it may not be the only racy storyline to hit the show this season. "We're not going to pull back," says a producer. "If anything, we'll be accelerating because we've gotten our footing with these characters being out of high school. The PTC may be... »

Leighton Meester Gets Us Hot and Bothered

4 hours ago | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

She may not have a sex tape, but Leighton Meester's new "Somebody to Love" music video sure makes us wish the Gossip Girl star had one. After all, the sight of the scantily dressed actress singing seductively into the camera, writhing around in the back of a limo and crawling on all fours in a hotel room is pretty freakin' hot. Throw a little French in there to boot and, well, we haven't been this turned on since we heard Angelina Jolie talking in Russian. »

Under pressure, CW producers to change theme of ‘Gossip Girl’

9 hours ago | ReelLoop.com | See recent Reel Loop news »

In response to the recent statement issued by the Parents Television Council, producers of the CW’s hit drama Gossip Girl will make changes to the show’s storyline, advertisements and characters in order to create wholesome entertainment for the country’s parent-less children.

“We really don’t have a choice. We feel compelled to do this for the impressionable kids out there with no parents or guardians,” said CW spokesperson Michelle Garrett. “Thanks to the PTC’s statement, we, along with the show’s advertisers, feel like the appropriate thing to do will be to completely overhaul the show so teens aren’t turned into sexual deviants.”

Last week, the Parents Television Council asked CW affiliates to preempt an upcoming episode of Gossip Girl in which a threesome between the show’s main characters has been teased. Promos for the show identify the act occurring between unidentified characters in an episode entitled 3Some. »

Gossip Girl Threesome Episode a Public Service!

We hear the Parents Television Council is counting the reasons why Monday's touted Gossip Girl threesome shouldn't be aired. We see a like-minded group in South Carolina is making a similar case. And we gather some unaligned parents may be forming their own concerns. What we don't understand is why everyone doesn't understand: Threesomes on TV are good; threesomes on Gossip Girl are better! Go ahead, object to this. The main argument of the antithreesome forces is that "impressionable teenagers" will be exposed to "behaviors heretofore associated primarily with adult films." Now, not being the experts in adult films like the powers that be from the Parents Television... »

Gossip Girl Puts Another Nail in Speakeasy's Coffin

Not even a month after one mag wished for the speakeasy trend to die, Gossip Girl (yes, a show about high school and college kids, but that’s another topic) is pounding another nail in the cocktail conceit, Derek Brown writes. With one of the show’s characters opening a Prohibition-style joint—“an authentic trend … co-opted by teenie-boppers and dumbed-down programming”—the trend has clearly “jumped the shark.” “I appreciate ‘speakeasies’ for the substantive quality they have brought to drinking,” Brown, who has an interest in just such a joint, blogs for the Atlantic . “Without a few pioneers in this genre... »
