Matt Damon is currently in talks to star in the long awaited Lance Armstrong bio pic from director Frank Marshall.   The project had been in had been in the works for years with Jake Gyllenhaal attached to star at one time.  And as far back as the summer of 2005 the film crew captured Armstrong’s seventh Tour de France victory, hoping to include the footage in the final film.  The director promises the film “won’t be a puff piece.”  Its adapted Armstrong’s best selling autobiography “It's Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life.”  Frank Marshall is more known for being a highly successful producer for such films as Raiders of the Lost Ark and more recently the Oscar winning The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.  This will be his fifth film as a director in a filmography that includes other true life stories such as 2006’s Eight Below and 1993’s Alive. »

Captain Pike Beams Into Vulcan's 'Star Trek'

6 May 2009 11:46 AM, PDT | CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news »

Canadian actor Bruce Greenwood, who plays Captain Christopher Pike in J.J. Abrams Star Trek, is to be a guest at a special screening of the film arranged for the residents of the Alberta town of Vulcan. The advance screening of the film was arranged for 300 residents of Vulcan after the town's tourist board failed in its bid to persuade Paramount let them host the film's world premiere. That has since taken place in Sydney, Australia.

Captain Pike is seen in trailers for Star Trek urging Chris Pine's Kirk to enlist in Starfleet. The character appeared twice in the original series of Star Trek on which the new film is based. Jeffrey Hunter played Pike in the originally unaired first pilot for the series, 'The Cage'. When footage from that pilot was incorporated into the two-part episode 'The Menagerie', a badly disfigured Pike was played by Sean Kenney.

Captain America casting call No15: Paul Walker

5 May 2009 8:05 AM, PDT | The Geek Files | See recent The Geek Files news »

The Final candidate in my ongoing, occasional series of casting possibilities for Captain America is Paul Walker.

After modelling and appearing in several TV shows, the 35-year-old got his big break in the 2001 action flick The Fast and The Furious, alongside Vin Diesel.

He went on to appear in both sequels, and has had other film roles including the Clint Eastwood-directed war film Flags of our Fathers in 2006.

The handsome Californian was also in adventure movie Eight Below and the crime drama Running Scared, both in 2006.

Walker has been mentioned in fan discussions online - he has an all-American look and is often regarded as physically well-suited to the role though others doubt he has the acting skills to pull it off.

One factor in his favour is that he's not so well-known that he would be a distraction from the believability of the movie. But on the other »

AfterElton Hot 100 Sneak Peek: Paul Walker

28 April 2009 3:32 PM, PDT | AfterElton.com | See recent AfterElton.com news »

It's time to reveal another of the fine fellows who made this year's Hot 100 list and our next winner is someone who isn't a stranger to the poll, but still kinda surprised me in making this year's list: Paul Walker!

Why am I surprised? It's not as if Mr. Walker suddenly became seriously less attractive over the past twelve months. He certainly still makes my Spidey senses tingle.

I'm surprised because so often making a list such as this depends upon how high profile a celebrity has been the previous year. Yes, Walker just starred in the box office hit Fast & Furious, but it wasn't exactly a "gay" movie, nor has the star of pics such as Eight Below and Into the Blue made himself a gay-fave by playing gay roles or taking particularly gay-friendly stances on gay issues such as Jake Gyllenhaal or Sean Penn

But whatever the reason, »
