Michael J. Bassett's Solomon Kane still doesn't have a firm Us release date, but that's not stopping the film's producers from pulling out all the stops to get their product in front of as many eyes as possible. And today they've provided us with a nicely creepy clip entitled "Hall of Mirrors".

First teaser for vixen vampire drama We Are The Night (Wir Sind Die Nacht)

If you want to excite me, here’s the easy way in: give me a promising vampire film. If it includes some sort of supernatural romance angle: bonus!
Enter Dennis Gansel who caught a little love from us a few years ago when he arrived at Sundance with The Wave ("Die Welle") (trailer). The young director has been busy at work on a new film, a female vampire drama titled We Are the Night ("Wir Sind Die Nacht").
The new project stars a number of vixens including Karoline Herfurth of Perfume: The Story of a Murderer fame, Nina Hoss, Jennifer Ulrich and Anna Fischer and tells the story of Lena, a woman bitten by the leader of a female vampire trio. At first she joins the group and partakes in the nightlife but the blood lust is too much for her taste and she turns away from the girls and

Movie Review: 'Bright Star' Truly Is

High-necked dresses and corsets characterize many period films, as does a matching, buttoned-up sensibility in terms of sensuality and relationships. But Jane Campion’s 19th- century set Bright Star is a warm, witty film that isn’t shy about demonstrating the love of Romantic poet John Keats (Ben Whishaw, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer) and Fanny Brawne (Abbie Cornish, Stop-Loss). Though sex is never part of the equation for the pair, a single touch or clasped hand radiates heat and affection.
Though Keats is obviously the more famous of the couple, Bright Star arrives from the perspective of his love. Fanny is a fashion-driven young woman who spends much of her time with her widowed mother (Kerry Fox, Shallow Grave) and her two younger siblings (Love Actually’s Thomas Sangster and delightful newcomer Edie Martin). When she meets John Keats, there is an immediate attraction between them, much to

Tom Tykwer Directing German-Language Film 'Drei' Next

Run Lola Run and Perfume director Tom Tykwer is set to make his first German-language feature in nearly a decade titled Drei (which means Three in German). The film is a comedy-drama centered on a love triangle. Tykwer's last German-language film was The Princess and the Warrior from 2000. Produced by Berlin-based X Filme, Drei is described as a "tragicomic film about love, morality and gender in late modern Germany, set against late modern Berlin backdrops -- a story of a love triangle with social and cultural-philosophical depth." Sounds like it could be a good return to form for Tykwer and a return to homeland.
Although I didn't really care for The International, I still love Tykwer, and just think back to Run Lola Run or one of my all-time favorites, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer. If anyone also saw Paris Je T'aime, his sequence in that film was

Among the films at Comic-Con this year is “Solomon Kane”, starring James Purefoy and based on “Conan” author Robert E. Howard’s fictional works. It’s written and directed by Michael J. Bassett, who has done a couple of movies that I dug, so I’m definitely going to give this one a spin. The film is scheduled to hold its panel on Saturday, July 25 in the infamous Hall H, which basically means your chances of getting into the panel to see swanking first footage from the movie is, well, it’s a toss-up, isn’t it?
Anchored by a star-making performance by James Purefoy (Resident Evil, Rome, The Philanthorpist), Solomon Kane is an action-packed, dark and intense story with a stellar supporting cast, including Pete Postlethwaite (The Usual Suspects, The Constant Gardner), Max Von Sydow (Conan The Barbarian, The Tudors), Rachel Hurd Wood (Perfume: The Story Of A Murderer), Alice Krige (Deadwood,

Not only are they capable of lighting up the silver screen, they are also some of today's most talented young actresses, commanding huge fees - in some cases, in the millions. Many have won multiple awards, while others have starred in some of today's biggest box office hits. In short, we're listing down the cream of the crop!
Just like our recent Top 50 hottest young actors, we've narrowed down our list from 88 to 50, and set an age limit. If you miss seeing some of your favorites, so do we - including Maggie Gyllenhaal (31 years old) and Amy Adams (34 years old). Tilda Loves Peru. And Everyone Else, Too

Tilda Swinton and her esteemed jury have picked their winners for the Berlinale Festival. The Golden Bear (the top prize) went to The Milk of Sorrow. The movie is being called a "triumphant ode to life" but it sounds gruesome. The title refers to a disease carried in the breast milk of women who were raped.
The photo to the left shows Tilda kissing the hand of the lead actress. That Tilda, she's such a gentleman. Love her! (That's an order from The Film Experience. Not that you needed the shove). If you follow Oscar's foreign film race each year you may recall that the director Claudia Llosa's previous film madeinusa was Peru's submission in 2006. Llosa now seems likely to receive that particular patriotic honor again next fall when Oscar's foreign film official submission list is released. Jason's back...again.
New Line Cinema's (Warner Bros. Pictures) latest incarnation of a horror cult favorite "Friday the 13th" is the top contender for the number spot at the box office. Marcus Nispel directs the film from the screenplay by Mark Swift and Damian Shannon based on the characters created by Victor Miller. Nispel is no stranger to a remake - the German helmer took the wheel of the 2003 "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" release. Opening in 3,105 locations, "Friday the 13th" stars Jared Padalecki, Amanda Righetti, Jonathan Sadowski, Aaron Woo and Travis Van Winkle.
Shopping queens rejoice! "Confessions of a Shopaholic" gets into 2,507 theatres via Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The cast of the comedy is lead by Isla Fisher and Hugh Dancy and includes Joan Cusack and John Goodman.

After the singularly overreaching mindfuck of Perfume: The Story Of A Murderer, it was perhaps inevitable that graying Run Lola Run wunderkind Tom Twyker would follow up with something less personal and ambitious. Sure enough, The International follows in the footsteps of the recent Bond reboot and the Bourne movies, with a slick, accomplished globe-trotting thriller about nefarious deeds in high places. The International has a top-flight international cast headlined by the high-wattage duo of Clive Owen and Naomi Watts. Its premise aches with timely resonance. It’s directed with meticulous artistry. So why does it ultimately feel so empty

Tom Tykwer is one of those directors where whenever I see or hear his name, I'm immediately interested. Before The International, he directed Run Lola Run, The Princess and the Warrior, Heaven, and my personal favorite, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer. He hails from Germany and is a very visual director with a gritty style that I love seeing on the big screen. So when I was given the chance to talk with him a few weeks ago about The International, I jumped at the opportunity. Here is the result and my lengthy interview with Tom Tykwer that primarily focus on The International and what went into his latest film.
