Excellent comedy, good date movie, 23 July 2006

The story starts by an introduction of Andrea Collins (Vivica Fox). This woman is depicted as preppy, shallow and self-obsessed (chliche) Hollywood actress. Despite of that, due to the funny - at times even parodying way of using this character makes this girl somewhat lovable. Later on, Andrea meets two of her friends and they start a twisted challenge : silly competition in seducing (almost) randomly selected stranger. (Suprisingly, no actual prize was at stake)

Getting played is a romantic story that won't get you disappointed. The movie is perfectly written (the plot is great for the comedy genre) and acted, the scenes are warm and music well chosen. The part where mark strips was rather unique and unpredictably funny. I loved Stacy Dash here - she was very appealing and no less shining than Vivica Fox or Carmen Electra.

Overall this story is a great movie, its smart and original humor suited me very well. Great alternative to senseless teen comedies (about losing virginity), overgrown weed-smoking losers living with their mums and the like. Getting played is no tough art or deep story but simple, well executed romance/fun flick that shouldn't make its audience regret their choice.

This movie can easily find decent place on my shelf, since It's very charming, delightful and entertaining piece.

Could have been better, 23 October 2006

This move had potential, but didn't quite make the grade. I was hopeful when I read the cover of the DVD case. But, unfortunately, the directing was kinda bad. Some scenes had nothing to do with the movie at all and was a waste of time to even include. Such as the Joe Torry part. Maybe Joe simply wanted a more prominent part so they threw him a bone. But in doing so, it messed up the flow of the movie. Not that the flow was all that great before. I really hate to see a potentially good movie go to crap simply because of mistakes like bad editing and directing. I really feel this movie could've been good, otherwise. Instead, it ends up being so-so.

Why Did I Bother????, 5 March 2008

This happened to be playing on T.V. late late night one sleepless evening so I though I 'd give it a try. I got through the first 30-45 minutes...and they weren't easy! This was one of the worst wastes of space I've ever seen...

First of all: Bill Bellamy, kind of funny comedian, ATROCIOUS actor!!! Plot - highly implausible, acting - absolutely abysmal, camera/cinematography - just one big driving tour of Loa Angeles.

Are you really that hard up, Vivica? I mean, really?!?! This was just truly an incredibly stupid movie on every level. My best advice: stay away from any movie with Bill Bellamy - point blank.

No Redeeming Features, 21 October 2007

While there are other movies that represent these actors in a better light I did get a few laughs viewing this movie. My adult children watched with me and they could name a few ladies who fit the bill of the three characters---and that's too bad. The sound track was enjoyable, the costumes (clothes) were realistic and the comic was funny. The friend Josh is entertaining. But,there certainly will not be even a little rush to the DVD rentals by many to get this movie. The movie obviously was an attempt by the director to rush through a project--let's hope he is not remembered for this one. And, let's hope the actors/actresses did not count on this one to be the big one for their careers.

Vivica A. Fox plays Andrea Collins an actress who thinks she is more famous and beautiful than she really is, and in short she thinks the world revolves around her. She is sleeping with one of her best friend's men when we meet her but before long, she flashes an incident (to her agent) where she caught her own boyfriend cheating on her with another man. You would have thought that she would have been devastated but when the gay lover of her lover recognises, they start to chat things up about how beautiful she is in person and how he loves her films etc. etc. Before long, she has even forgotten the fact that her boyfriend (whom she dumps anyway) cheated on her and hires his lover as her new stylist. A few days later we meet her two best friends played by Carmen Electra (Lauren) and Stacey Dash (Emily) while the three are out to lunch, where they begin to plot how they are going to get back at men for treating them wrong. Enter Bill Bellamy, the man all three of them zero in on and try to use by seducing and dumping. Too bad that he is in on their game and plays them as well for all their worth, that is until he falls in love with the most innocent of the three, Emily. Kathy Najimy plays the very funny and quirky psychologist of the character Emily.

Another Bad Dating Movie, 5 April 2007

This movie gets 4 stars just for having fly Vivica A. Fox and fly Stacey Dash in it! Fly Tichina Arnold also made a cameo appearance in this movie. This movie was totally pointless and stupid. The only good part of the movie was when Vivica's character bribed the hotel worker and caught the man she was dating with another person...a man. A man who was feminine and hit one of the highest notes a man ever hit in movie history when Vivica's character was about to beat him up. In the end, the girls get played back and Stacey Dash's character ends up with the man everyone wanted to play. Do not rent this movie! Wait until it comes on Saturday afternoon on TV!

One of the worst movies of this type. Contains spoilers, 1 April 2007

I agree with the 1st comment. This movie had potential and there are quite a few things wrong in it that made me give it a bad review. Directing and editing was just the beginning. The writing or storyline went nowhere. Key elements are missing that leave you asking, WHY? Spoilers ahead

Big Plot hole. When the woman first start Stacy Dash's character (Emily) tells her therapist that she hired an investigator. Why do we not know of the results of the investigators findings. I actually thought there was going to be more to Bill Bellamy's character (Mark) then shown. Why was Emily seeing a therapist in the first place. Again I expected the therapist and Mark's storyline or something to tie in together. When Vivica's character (Andrea) and Lauren (Played by Carmen Diaz) were seeing the same man learn that they were seeing the same man there was nothing. OK they didn't need to have a cat fight but neither woman went off on the man either.

But I will leave it to your opinion, As far as mine this movie blows.

i felt like watching a comedy, and i already knew what to expect of vivica))i was not disappointed. in all her roles to date she is very expressive on screen, sometimes in a wacky way, but always very entertaining. for any fans of her like myself you will NOT be disappointed. i can not believe this woman is way over 40 years old! same goes for Stacey Dash( if seen the recent movie "i could never been your woman", she has a high school teenager role and plays besides Michelle Pfeiffer which herself looks great at 40+, but still Stacey is jaw-breaking for ANY age). i can easily see how their looks and ATTITUdES here could get some women jealous of them))), but looks aside, Vivica A. Fox has always proved an actress that gets in her role well or very well( sometimes "over the top" but for a comedy that is expected and wishful at times). to sum it up here, she is so "entretainingly annoying".)) from the middle part to the end i was off the chair laughing.))))also the comedian Sheryl Underwood has a 5 minutes cameo as a stand up comedian, very funny.

OK, enough about her for now. this production has some clichés( less then expected for me, and the "feminist" issues do HAVE TWSISTS that should please everyone, or at least not annoy )( also a couple of remarks for "desired" people that have to "be" wealthy, yucksss). the only problem i found here is Bill Bellamy. i do not think he can act( or maybe is my perception of him because he getting jiggly with "my" sexy, big eyes Vivica A. Fox????hehehehe).anyhow if his character would have had been played by Jamie Foxx this might have been better then "booty call",yet another movie that has the score UNDER 5, and on which matter i can not see or understand why...they are both very as comedies based on situations and HILARIOUS at that as well.also the title, for a change makes perfect sense.

i give it 8 star because , as i said, i got what i was looking for and MORE.if i wanted to watch a thriller obviously this would have got 1 star, you get my drift.))recommended for young "wacky" couples that want to have some "jelousy " pillow fights.

Fun interplay and good message, 2 August 2007
8/10
Author: jgrovesusa from United States

Unlike the previous reviewer, I actually watched the movie. As a matter of fact, when it started I thought I would get some things done around the house and watch it in the background but it totally got me. I had to sit and watch. The interplay between the couple and their friends was perfect. I have known people like these, playing a game instead of following their hearts in their relationships. The advice they get just pulls them farther from what they really want and creates way more conflict than ever. The chemistry between Bill and Vivica is hot when they aren't "playing the game". This is a fun, lighthearted film that is great for those times when you need a pick me up and want some sweet, old fashioned, relationship entertainment.

This movie was so bad, 14 May 2007

I feel like I may have wasted 84 min of my life. The acting in this movie was so bad. AND THE DIRECTING!!! OMG!! Why do I need to watch people talk from sun up to sun down. I felt like slitting my wrist! If you are contemplating watching this movie....SAVE YOURSELF!! And why is Carmen Electra in this movie? Why is she in any movie? Did this movie go straight to DVD? Okay, okay let me find the rainbow in it all...Gabrielle Union wasn't in it. Isn't she always in bad movies like this one? Oh and surprisingly, Stacy Dash wasn't the worst part of this film. I think the only other time I felt this way is when I stumbled across the movie Booty Call. Hmmm Vivica was in both of movies..coincidence, I think not!
