• Anachronisms: Near the start of the film, Josey is filling her truck with gas. The sign behind her shows a price of $1.71 per gallon. In winter 1989, US gas prices were $.90-$1 per gallon. According to the US department of Energy, Minnesota gas prices did not reach that level until April 2001, and not again until April 2004.
  
  
• Anachronisms: The Minneapolis skyline includes a few buildings that didn't exist in 1988-89.
  
  
• Errors in geography: When Josey drives into Minneapolis, she is shown approaching downtown Minneapolis from the south. She should be approaching from the north.
  
  

• Anachronisms: When Josey drives through downtown Minneapolis, at least two cars shown in the background are obviously post-1989 models.
  
  
• Anachronisms: When Josey is driving through Minneapolis, you can see a brand new police squad car out the driver side window as she goes through an intersection. Squad cars looked very different in the '80s.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: The indoor hockey scene was shot at the arena in Eveleth, MN, where the average temperature doesn't get far above 10 degrees during hockey season. In the outside scenes, you can't see anyone's breath, the little girl holding onto the chain-link fence wouldn't be doing that without gloves.
  
  
• Anachronisms: In the scene in Josey's kitchen, 3/4 of the way through the film, a bottle of Tums Ultra is on the kitchen table. Tums Ultra didn't exist in 1989.
  
  
• Anachronisms: After Josey moves out of the house, she checks into a motel. A Hypercom T7P integrated credit card terminal is on the counter behind the front desk. That terminal first appeared in the early 1990s.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: When Bobby gets up from attacking Josie in the powder room, he runs up a ramp that appears to have water cascading down it. He never splashes in the water or leaves footprints.
  
  
• Factual errors: At the hockey rink, nets behind the cage above the glass were not in use in 1989.
  
  
• Anachronisms: The movie takes place in 1988-89, yet it frequently shows the Clarence Thomas/Anita Hill hearings, which happened in 1991.
  
  
• Continuity: When Bill White is at the bar the first time, from one angle he appears to be drinking Leineinkugel's Honey Weiss beer. When they change angles, he is drinking some other brand. When they go back to the first angle, he's again drinking Leineinkugel's.
  
  
• Continuity: When Bill White is sitting at the bar, contemplating whether to talk to Josie, the second button on his right sleeve is unbuttoned. When he gets up to go talk to her, he lifts his right arm, and his shirt sleeve is fully buttoned.
  
  
• Factual errors: Josie's truck is a 1990 or later.
  
  
• Continuity: In the bar scene after we are first introduced to Bill White, Glory's tray of shots switches from five shots to four then back to five again throughout the scene.
  
  
• Factual errors: During the opening text about women miners, the word "Northern" is spelled "Norhtern".
  
  
• Anachronisms: Lois started working at the site in 1975. When she was taking her new job, her son was wearing a T-shirt with the logo of Iron Maiden. At that time, the band was in the very first year in East London.
