(Mexico) Director Carlos Reygadas ("Japon") creates a weirdly subdued psychodrama in this emotionally unsettling story acted by a cast of nonprofessionals. Marcos Hernández is a guilt ridden, middle-aged bodyguard to the sexually precocious young daughter (Anapola Mushkadiz) Mexican General. The slightly "off" performances of his non-actors add an ambiguous edge and the confrontational sexual imagery provokes emotions not often explored on screen.
