Alan Cumming was reportedly uncomfortable with the long hours he had to take with the Nightcrawler makeup in X-Men 2, but still planned to return for X-Men: The Last Stand when Bryan Synger was attached. When Brett Ratner took on role as director, Alan Cumming (along with Kelly Hu) left the project. Thoughts of replacing Alan Cumming were considered but the part for Nightcrawler was so minimal, however, that the studio felt it was not worthwhile to go through the long and costly makeup process, and the character was cut.Nightcrawler's absence was explained in in the X-Men: The Official Game. At some part of the story of the game, Nightcrawler tells Xavier he does not want to be an X-Man, for their lives are too violent and he is a peaceful man. Xavier tells him he is always welcome in the Mansion, and Kurt leaves, explaining his absence in X-Men: The Last Stand.
In the first film, she was played by Sumela Kay. In the second, she was played by Katie Stuart, and in the third, she was played by Ellen Page. In the first and second, her appearances were very brief and thus, did not need very experienced actors. However, her role was bigger in X-Men: The Last Stand, so a more experienced actor was needed.
While we do see a sentinels head in the beginning of the film. The original outline of the plot for X-Men 3 when Singer was attached was to be the sentinels as well as the Phoenix.
No, X-Men Origins: Wolverine has been released in the meanwhile. It is a prequel that takes place 17 years before the first X-Men film. A film dealing with the origins of Magneto is currently being developed. There have been very little talks to have a fourth film in the regular film series, however.
Yes, there is a scene after the credits - it depicts the brain-dead patient Xavier had spoken about previously in the film lying in bed. Suddenly, he speaks in Xavier's voice. Also, there is a second scene as in the credits that shows Magneto playing chess in the part. His set is metal and, if you look closely, the piece he is pointing at moves slightly.
Multiple Man-Multiple Man does not die in the final battle. He doesn't even participate. He is captured by authorities in the Brotherhood camp in the woods. Magneto used him as a diversion to make it appear as if the mutants were still at the camp. In reality, Magneto and his band of mutants were long gone, heading for Alcatraz Island.Juggernaut-The Juggernaut is last seen chasing Kitty Pryde through the Alcatraz facility to Leech. Kitty ability to phase through matter gets her to Leech, but Juggernaut soon catches up. Juggernaut tries to kill both, but Leech's ability of nulifying mutant powers ultimately saves them from death. The impact against the wall renders Juggernaut unconscious. His fate is unknown but the novelization describes Drake carrying him to safety as the facility around them collapses.Pyro-Pyro is seen in the final battle facing off with Iceman. He seems to have the upper hand until Iceman (for the first time) turns his whole body into ice, then subsequently freezes Pyro's hands, disabling his devices that create fire. Iceman then headbutts Pyro, knocking him out. His fate is also unknown but, again, it is assumed he lives.
At the end of X2, Stryker tries to compel Logan to save him with the promises of helping him discover his past and get his memory back. This prompts Logan to throw his dog tags away and tells Stryker he chooses the X-Men over his past. In this film, we don't see anymore of Logan's flashbacks because he is at peace with not knowing everything about his past and is simply moving on and not trying to remember. The previous films introduced and developed all the characters, this film was more about the war brewing and Jean Grey becoming The Phoenix. So there was no need for continued development on all the characters. There is an alternate ending, however, available for viewing on the two-disc special edition DVD which shows Logan returning to his homeland in Alberta, Canada. In the scene he enters a bar, where the barman says "I remember you." This hints at Wolverine continuing his quest to find answers about his past.
It may refer to this full quote: "To every man there comes a time in his lifetime, that special moment when he is figuratively tapped on the shoulder and offered that chance to do a very special thing, unique to him and fitted to his talents. What a challenge if that moment finds him unprepared or unqualified for that work."
Yes, while it is largely seen as a goof, it could be explained that it being the near future they found another way to inject the cure through plastic projectiles. Also it's possible Magneto can't control certain types of metal such as aluminum which isn't magnetic. Though it's always been implied that he can manipulate any type of metal.
