This is a film told with almost no words about a child who is scared to jump into the water but overcomes her fears to impress her swimming coach.
This animated short was made using the painted glass technique--where paints are applied directly to glass and then animated--painstakingly repainting the scene as it changes. While I was impressed by Rachel Moore's use of this unusual technique and I know she helped make the very, very impressive short WAT'S PIG, I must say that there are some out there doing absolutely brilliant things with this method (especially Aleksandr Petrov--who has made several Oscar-nominated and one Oscar winner using this technique). However, Miss Moore needed to start somewhere and this is a very nice start. Let's hope she continues to experiment in this medium and improve--the film showed a lot of promise.
