Ron Howard, Vince Vaughn Make a Comedy

2 hours ago | newsinfilm.com | See recent newsinfilm news »

Vince Vaughn and director Ron Howard are teaming for an untitled comedy about infidelity for Universal PicturesAllan Loeb (21, Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps) is writing the script based on an original idea from Vaughn and producer Brian Grazer.

According to Variety, the plot is about a “man who learns that his best friend’s wife is cheating and must then navigate treacherous waters to decide what do with that knowledge.”  Wait a minute, I thought this was an original idea?  I’ve seen this sitcom episode a few times already.  Unless his best friend is Jon Favreau, I’m bored already.

Vaughn’s character will find out the big secret during the first act, try to tell him in the second, only to have his best friend open up to him about how much he loves his wife, Vaughn will get cold feet, and “hilarity” will ensue as »

Ron Howard + Vince Vaughn + Infidelity = Hilarity

Who knew Opie was so money?  Even he didn’t know it, he was so money.  Variety is reporting that director Ron Howard has committed to helm an untitled script from 21 and Wall Street 2 screenwriter Allan Loeb.

The film will be a comedic look at infidelity within a circle of friends and lovers.  Universal is backing the project, and deals are being finalized for both Howard to direct and Vince Vaughn to star.  Brian Grazer’s Image Entertainment and Vaughn’s Wild West Picture Show will also provide backing for the film.

While it is nice to see Howard getting back to his comedic roots, one has to wonder if he hasn’t gone too far into the dramatic realm to really make us laugh again.  His last out-and-out comedy was 2000’s How The Grinch Stole Christmas.  Some would say the last time Howard really made us laugh was »

Ron Howard To Direct Vince Vaughn?

6 January 2010 9:35 AM, PST | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Variety is reporting that Ron Howard, lately of  the fairly heavy drama of “Da Vinci Code” and “Angels and Demons” is about to direct Vince Vaughn, notorious for recent works like “Couples Retreat”, “Four Christmases” and “Fred Claus” in a movie about cheating and cheaters and the carnage it inflicts on friendships and relationships. This is a very strange pairing. I can only imagine, considering the kind of film that Ron is typically offered that he would only do a movie of this kind if the script was rock solid. If the script is good, why Vince? I mean, no offence to Vince but he has his genre and he’s decent at it but with Ron Howard directing it seems like overkill. Hollywood is a mysterious world. »

Vince Vaughn And Ron Howard Commit To Infidelity

5 January 2010 4:03 PM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

With Fred Claus, Four Christmases, and Couples Retreat as the last three entries on Vince Vaughn's resume, the man needs to be in something good, in a hurry. Sure, all three were considered successful at the box office, but they also average out to a nice and sturdy 19% on Rotten Tomatoes (even adding their scores together isn't enough for a fresh rating). So what's a man to do? Return to a director he has done great work with? That won't work - David Dobkin directed both Wedding Crashers and Fred Claus. Reteam with an old acting friend? Nope - Jon Favreau worked with him in the two most recent disasters. How about a new direction? That's the ticket! Vaughn and Ron Howard have both signed on to an untitled dark comedy about infidelity that will be backed by Universal, according to THR. The script, written by Allan Loeb with »

10 Reasons Why 2010 Looks To Be A Great Year

3 January 2010 6:07 PM, PST | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

Wow, 2010 is finally here! The last decade went by incredibly fast. Or at least it seems like it. So much in the entertainment industry has advanced, but there's been several setbacks as well. Superhero and 3D movies appear to be in full swing as well as undesirable remakes and no talents like the Hiltons and Kardashians are famous for absolutely no reason. I think that as the first year of this new decade begins, there's much to look forward to. Well at least for me there is. Despite the many setbacks in the quality of entertainment, I think we're now in an exciting time. Young minds with original and fresh ideas are starting to get their chance to step out and revolutionize things, while the return of the old guard and the familiar can be nostalgic and also bring back a more simplistic time. For 2010 there are many things I look forward to, »
