- Continuity: When Kate is in the bathroom at her mother's house, she sees a pregnancy test in her sister's bag. It disappears and reappears a few times.

- Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Brad's mom reprimands him by calling him "Bradford." His give name is "Orlando," and he changed it to Brad.
- Errors in geography: Kate and Brad live in the heart of San Francsico. When they take a taxi to the airport, they travel over the Golden Gate Bridge, which goes north of the city. San Francisco's airport is south of the city.
- Revealing mistakes: When the family was playing Taboo, Brad said their time was up, but the sand timer had visibly not yet been started.
- Revealing mistakes: Kate and Brad are in the car, in a heated conversation. In the background an obvious turn has been made by the vehicle, yet Brad does not move the steering wheel once as the car does its turn.
- Continuity: During the scene in the car while Kate and Brad are going to their final Christmas at her fathers, they are arguing. This is an obvious re-shoot because at some points she is wearing a wig and then in the next shot it is back to her normal hair. It goes back and forth this way throughout the scene.
- Incorrectly regarded as goofs: During the Taboo game, Denver answers "What is the capital of China?" with "Hong Kong". This is part of the joke. Denver and his wife, who obviously have little education, think that Hong Kong is the capital of China. The point of the game was for Denver to guess that "Hong Kong" was the answer on the card, which he did. The point of the scene was to demonstrate how well they knew each other and how poorly Kate and Brad knew each other. The fact that Denver got "Hong Kong" from "What is the capital of China?" helped to make that scene funny.
- Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): In the opening scene Brad says he's from North Dakota and refers to North Dakota as the Bison State. North Dakota's official name is The Peace Garden State, as someone from ND would be well aware.
- Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Brad referred to Burma as an Asian "island nation". It is not an island: its southern border is its only coastal border.
- Errors in geography: Based on their bar scene and apartment interior, the couple (Kate and Brad) appear to live in swanky SF apartment, yet when they depart to San Francisco Airport (SFO) they drive over the Golden Gate Bridge which is North of San Francisco; SFO is to the South.

- Factual errors: SPOILER: Due to federal privacy laws, the hospital wouldn't be allowed to identify Brad and Kate by name without written consent. They also wouldn't have allowed the reporter to "surprise" them in their hospital room.
