Starring in this week’s big release: Total Recall, is none other than one of Hollywood’s most beautiful leading ladies, Jessica Biel. In the film, the actress plays Melina, a rebel agent and a member of the resistance.
Without spoiling anything, let’s just say that she teams up with Colin Farrell‘s Dennis Quaid and the two go on the run together in an attempt to figure out why everyone is after Quaid and what secrets his mind really holds.
At the film’s recent press day in La, we sat down with Biel to discuss her role in the remake. She talked about some of the tougher scenes that she had to shoot, the fight scenes, how she prepared for the role and more.
Check it out below.
We Got This Covered: You and Kate [Beckinsale] reach near-ufc levels with your fighting. How awesome was that?

Note: Do not read on if you have not seen Season 3, Episode 7 of ABC Family's "Pretty Little Liars," entitled "Crazy."
Just as Hanna's on the phone with her mom, saying that no one is coming over, there's a knock at the back door. It's Wilden, who didn't get the front door memo. "Why do they all have glass doors?" my mom asks of the Liars' living spaces. "You know what they say about people you live in glass houses." I mean, I do, but I'm not sure how this applies here. I appreciate her effort nonetheless.
Wilden tells Hanna that the new blood sample matches her's -- O negative. And that she needs to come in for a blood test. She denies it could be hers, but a sassy Wilden replies, "Then why do you look so scared?"

The public have taken their time warming to Paloma Faith's quirks, though judging by the success of her latest album Fall to Grace, it's a battle she finally appears to be winning. The Hackney singer closed her current run of UK shows with a second sold-out gig at London's Somerset House, where she entered the stage subtly as ever in a bejazzled vintage frock and opened her set with 'When You're Gone' standing atop a miniature piano. Faith left no corner of the stage unturned as she strutted around for uptempo numbers including 'Blood, Sweat & Tears' and 'Upside Down', though it was when draped herself over a piano for 'Just Be' - a ballad about "realistic love", she says - that she was most compelling. Her witty stage banter proved she (more)...

Here at Ology, there's only thing we love more than talking to our favorite musicians, artists, athletes and celebrities: not talking to them. In our ongoing series of Non-Interviews, we'll be asking hard, probing, no-nonsense questions to a rotating cast of influential men and women who are much too busy to actually speak with us.

Twilight's Kristen Stewart spotted in upside down trouble in new Snow White movie pic. We recently got this new photo from the upcoming "Snow White and the Huntsman" flick, and it looks pretty interesting as it features Twilight Saga hottie Kristen Stewart, hanging upside down with the her huntsman co-star Chris Hemsworth. It looks like she's gotten herself into a little trouble when her character Snow White gets captured by the 8 dwarves for the first time. That's right. They have 8 dwarves instead of the traditional 7 as this movie continues to make slight breaks in the traditional Snow White storyline we grew up with. It stars: Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, Ray Winstone, Ian McShane, Eddie Izzard, Bob Hoskins, Toby Jones, Eddie Marsan, Stephen Graham, Ray Winstone, Lily Cole, Sam Spruell, Liberty Ross, and Noah Huntley. In the flick, Snow White learns to fight to protect herself from...

Once upon a time I wrote a column called "Bad Movies We Love," and I feel close enough to you to admit that -- actually? -- I don't love bad movies. I would rather watch something good, weirdly. I'm sensitive when it comes to reserving time for woefully bad cinema, and that's why I want to help kick off your summer with the essential gay stinkbombs. Summer is the best time to gather your friends at 11 a.m. on a Saturday, gather around the thespian sorcery of Elizabeth Berkley, and cry, cry, and laugh until you're whole. Let's celebrate the worst of the best of the worst!

Trailers are an under-appreciated art form insofar that many times they’re seen as vehicles for showing footage, explaining films away, or showing their hand about what moviegoers can expect. Foreign, domestic, independent, big budget: I celebrate all levels of trailers and hopefully this column will satisfactorily give you a baseline of what beta wave I’m operating on, because what better way to hone your skills as a thoughtful moviegoer than by deconstructing these little pieces of advertising? Some of the best authors will tell you that writing a short story is a lot harder than writing a long one, that you have to weigh every sentence. What better medium to see how this theory plays itself out beyond that than with movie trailers? Nitro Circus The Movie 3D Trailer I honestly don't care that I've seen dumb stunts like this before. I'm vibrating from the anticipation to take it all in.

Nothing, it seems, can stand in the way of the Margaret Thatcher biopic: you literally couldn't avoid it
The big story
There was only one film in town this week: The Iron Lady. Guardian political grandee Michael White failed to square the screen Thatcher with the one he knew, Alex von Tunzelmann told us there was more to Margaret Thatcher than a fabulous blow dry, Meryl Streep raced to the front of the queue in the best actress Oscar betting, the Thatcher family apparently turned down an invitation to watch the film, and the premiere – on a blue carpet – triggered the usual shenanigans. Our man Peter Bradshaw, though, has the definitive word on the film.

Dancing with the Stars Week 8 Rankings: Perfect Scores for Jr Martinez
In week 8 of Dancing with the Stars, the contestants battled for a spot in the semifinals, each with an individual dance and an Instant Dance. Jr Martinez tops the leaderboard with a perfect total score of 60, and we know Nancy Grace is likely to be eliminated. The judges were doling out high praise and scores, until they got to Nancy Grace, who danced 4th. They feel it’s time for her to go, and Len even came straight out with that sentiment. Read on.
For their Instant Dance all the couples had to dance a jive, with the celebrities picking envelopes at random containing a CD with the name of their song. They do not know the song beforehand, they’ve only rehearsed their choreography without the benefit of the music. It’s up to the pros to adapt...

Instant pudding, instant oatmeal … instant dance! They’re all tasty in their own way, but “Dancing with the Stars” offers only one of them to its viewing audience. (Hint: It’s not the tapioca.)
The five remaining couples each have to do the jive for the instant dance, in which no one knows the music until the live show. Then a couple has only 20 minutes to rehearse to that song before going on air to kick and flick for 90 seconds.

In the midst of music's most decadent eras during the '70s and '80s, Nile Rodgers was at the forefront of pop music. With his dynamic ear for producing top-ten records and with his finger on the pulse of American culture, Rodgers has not only had multiplatinum success, but he has also redefined pop music as we know it today.
Crafting hits for the likes of Diana Ross ("I'm Coming Out"), Madonna ("Like A Virgin"), Chic ("Good Times"), David Bowie ("China Girl"), Mick Jagger ("She's The Boss") and Grace Jones ("Inside Story"), among countless others, Rodgers had plenty of experience to draw upon for his new autobiography, "Le Freak: An Upside Down Story of Family, Disco, and Destiny." Four and a half years in the making, the personal memoir details the former Honeydrippers and Chic member's rise to stardom and the many hurdles that he faced. It wasn't until...

Tna Bound For Glory 2011
October 16th, Live from Philadelphia
Obligatory shot of the Liberty Bell and of course Rocky before we move into the Bound For Glory hype video. Then we are listening to Stain’d (for the first time since 2001 if you’re anything like me) as we go Live into the arena. You’d think for their biggest show of the year they’d have some pyro.
X Division Title
Brian Kendrick vs. Austin Aries
Lockup, the crowd strongly behind Austin Aries for some reason. We are in Philly tonight, the crowd could be interesting. Kendrick hip toss and a side head lock take over or three. Austin gets out of each one with an easy head scissors. Kendrick dropkicks him outside, where Aries decides he needs a time out. Of course Kendrick cant resist a vaulting cross body block. I can understand them cheering who they want.

Robert’s short story collection “Martyr’s & Monsters” is no exception. The tales within this wonderful collection are delectably dark, frightening and disturbing, with a cast of characters that are life-like, damaged, vulnerable and in some instances somewhat twisted.

As has been noted many times before, by me and others, the Wavelengths series of the Toronto International Film Festival is like a festival unto itself. So far removed from the red carpet nonsense, the deal-making, and the me-firstism of web journalists hoping to hit the Web with their initial impressions of some new Bryce Dallas Howard vehicle, Wavelengths affords breathing room to cinema and video at its most formally adventurous and, yes, uncommercial. We come here to look and listen, not to look “at” or listen “to,” and if that sounds hopelessly pretentious, come on down to the Jackman Hall and see for yourself. It’s actually quite cleansing, often funny, and a guaranteed good time, at least in part. (Short films are like the weather in my hometown of Houston, Texas. Don’t like it? Wait a moment. It’ll change.)
Sadly, Wavelengths 2011 will be the final year for series curator Andréa Picard.

Frederick Wiseman's portrait of cabaret dancers – which premiered at the Venice film festival – is neither prurient nor celebratory, more a work of anthropology
Frederick Wiseman is the deep-cover anthropologist of American cinema. Over a 50-year career his documentaries have hidden out in the wings, playing quiet witness to the workings of various social institutions and inviting the viewers to draw their own conclusions. Wiseman has visited schools and hospitals, the Ballet de l'Opera National and the Idaho state legislature. But the spry, reflective Crazy Horse catches him on more ostensibly exotic ground, backstage at a Paris cabaret, purveyor of reputedly "the best chic nude show in the world". Very gently, Wiseman disrobes the spectacle and peers inside.
The dancers at Crazy Horse put on two shows a night, seven days a week. These shows come with names like Desire, Upside Down and Baby Buns and involve a lot of synchronised bump-and-grind.

Julia Child's favorite cocktail, the upside down martini, is a straight-up combination of French vermouth and gin. Served alternately in a cocktail glass or on the rocks, this elegant drink will make you feel like you're watching the French Chef all over again.

3/4 ounce gin
3 3/4 ounces Noilly Prat French Vermouth
Lemon twist, for garnish
Stirred: Combine gin and vermouth in a mixing glass with ice, stir. Straing into a cocktail glass and garnish with lemon.

Director of Mysterious Skin and Kaboom is keeping indie pop alive by featuring new music and remixes by his favourite bands
This week sees the DVD release of two films from the singular talent of Gregg Araki: 1993's Totally Fucked Up and Kaboom, his most recent. It's always tempting to look for patterns and themes in a director's work, but in Araki's case, there's little that connects them all. The disenfranchised gay teens of Totally Fucked Up don't share much common ground with the silly stoners of his later comedy Smiley Face; and it's hard to reconcile the serious, subtle Mysterious Skin with the knockabout thrills of Splendor and Kaboom.
But for all the hallucinatory imagery, ambisexual cavorting, drug taking, violence and other shocking facets of Araki's work, there's one element that runs through them all: the music. When he says that "Kaboom is my most autobiographical and personal...

Lea Michele has a new song titled "When the World Turns Upside Down", and it's released at 2011 San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend. Recorded for "Dorothy of Oz" soundtrack, it has been made available for listening pleasure via audio stream which hit the web recently.
Almost at the same time, a first look at Dorothy Gale, the titular character the Rachel Berry of "Glee" is voicing in the movie, was revealed via MTV's Hollywood Crush. The image shows a little girl in what seems to be a farm. She looks adorable wearing two braided pigtails.
Based on beloved fairytale "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum, the movie is scheduled for 2012 release. It will follow Dorothy as she is whisked away to the magical Land of Oz. Joining Lea in the cast ensemble are Hugh Dancy, Patrick Stewart, Dan Aykroyd, Kelsey Grammer and more.

Paloma Faith has admitted that she has no desire to judge on ‘The X Factor’.
The flame haired singer said that she wouldn’t be strong enough to deal with “all the hatred” directed at the show’s panellists and claimed that she doesn’t feel ‘valid’ enough to critique hopeful acts.
She told Bang Showbiz: “I’ve always said to myself I wouldn’t ever judge ‘The X Factor’ because I just don’t think I’m emotionally-equipped to deal with all the hatred that people have to deal with.
“I hate the way people have to make themselves feel valid on the show, when my opinion is actually pretty in-valid.”
The ‘Upside Down’ hitmaker also admitted that she doesn’t know if she can count on a long term music career, because the music industry is “very fickle”.

Lynn Frances O’Neil briefly popped up on last year’s X Factor series and we can reveal that she showed up in Glasgow earlier this week, for a second shot at finding fame on the ITV show.
Last year the 24 year old singer was shown on the same episode as Gamu Nhengu, we mentioned her in our liveblog of the showhere. However after a brilliant rendition of ‘True Colours’ which got her four yeses from Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole, Louis Walsh and Geri Halliwell, and despite the fact that Cowell told her if he owned a restaurant, he’d have her singing every night of the week, Lynn failed to make the live rounds.
This year, Lynn came back and tried out for the new panel – Gary Barlow, Tulisa, Louis and Kelly Rowland – and this time opted to sing a more modern number. She gave a rendition of Paloma Faith...

Every movie buff appreciates a cinematic list. The arrival of vast information on a subject we love so dearly will always be welcomed with open arms. And what better than the esteemed list of all-time greatest films? Whether it’s a monumental effort like Empire’s The 500 Greatest Movies of All Time, or the country-specific AFI list of 100 Greatest American Films, there’s no denying the lasting appeal and insight a list can offer to reminiscence about old favourites and to put us on our way for new discoveries. After all, they’re usually spot on, having polled critics, filmmakers, and a devoted public who know exactly what makes a motion picture entertaining, important and timeless.
The problem is, of course, that after so many years, we’re used to reading the same old lists over and over again – how many times have we been told that The Godfather or...

I Saw The Devil
DVD & Blu-ray, Optimum
It's no big surprise that most film industries rely, at least in part, on crime-related movies; they can be made at all different budget levels and are full of impactful, life-changing events for the characters.
What's interesting is how how each nation has their own enduring signature: we have our mockney gangsters; France tends to explore corruption in the law; Japan and Italy deal in epically large, organised criminal outfits. But it's South Korea that perhaps has the most interesting: the revenge thriller. While you'd think the genre would be all played out by now, I Saw The Devil shows the strength in many of the familiar moves by pushing them to extremes. A pregnant fiancé of a government agent becomes the latest victim of a particularly cold and gruesome serial killer (Oldboy's Choi Min-sik). The agent dedicates his life not only to...

Kenneth Branagh's Norse epic hammers the competition while latest Fast & Furious instalment shows no sign of slowing down
The winner
To say that Marvel's film division had a lot riding on the success of its Thor movie would be an understatement. The company and distribution partner Paramount had a hit franchise in Iron Man, but would audiences show up for a Kenneth Branagh action sci-fi about a hammer-wielding alien god starring Jim Kirk's dad from the Star Trek reboot (Chris Hemsworth)? And if they didn't, where would that leave the forthcoming Captain America picture, next year's Avengers team-up, and more besides?
In the UK and elsewhere, Marvel and Paramount have plenty to be happy about. Thor debuted with £5.45m, including £2.34m from three days of previews. Add in bank holiday Monday, and that tally rises to £6.44m. That's in a similar ballpark to Iron Man three years ago, which...

Most of you have yet to see Like Crazy, a beautiful and frightening tale [1] of lost distance love starring Anton Yelchin, Felicity Jones and Jennifer Lawrence. It won the Grand Jury Prize [2] at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and got several rave reviews, including one by yours truly [3]. Paramount will be releasing the film later this year and it's bound to get a ton of Oscar buzz. The team behind the film, director Drake Doremus (who previously directed Douchebag), co-writer Ben York Jones and producer Jonathan Schwartz, are already using that buzz to their advantage and have just lined up their next project. They'll be making an adaptation of the upcoming young adult sci-fi romance novel Through to You by Emily Hainsworth which is about a teenager who tragically loses his girlfriend but finds that she still exists in a parallel universe. Read more about the project and the book after the break.

Despite the absence of several notable characters, this documentary gives an interesting glimpse into the history of Creation Records
There's one great stroke of genius to Upside Down, Danny O'Connor's chronicle of the birth, glory years and demise of mouthy mogul Alan McGee's iconic record label. It's the lack of a voiceover: O'Connor eschews traditional narration in favour of nuggets of rock'n'roll wisdom, spoken by ageing Irish DJ, music guru and McGee's Death Disco co-conspirator Bp Fallon ("purple-browed beep" in T Rex's Telegram Sam). Fallon is shot in monochrome and beamed onto a grainy 50s TV set – a move that ensures the film stays in tune with the vibe of the bands Creation championed: amongst others Primal Scream, My Bloody Valentine, The Pastels, The Jazz Butcher, Felt, Ride, Super Furry Animals, and most lucratively, Oasis.

Dancing On Ice presents the seven remaining contestants with the Ice World Tour, in which every performance is influenced from a dance from around the world. Read on to find out what the panel - Jason Gardiner, Robin Cousins and Emma Bunton - had to say about tonight's routines.
Laura Hamilton: 'Upside Down' Jason: (8) "The Charleston is a '20s flapper number. It's quirky, it's full of bounce, and it's also got a lot of gay abandonment. Yours, however, sometimes lacked the bounce in the shoulders we need to see. You lost a lot of the idiosyncratics, and the head-wiggles which I would have liked to have seen more sustained throughout the routine. But overall, it was a great, fun start to the show."

On tonight’s international themed dancing On Ice live show, Laura Hamilton took on America.
The children’s TV presenter tried to capture the style of the Charleston in her routine and included a tricky lift, which is typical to the dance style.
Skating to Upside Down, Laura and Colin looked pretty in pink when they took to the rink. The routine was complicated, quick paced and full of difficult content. The pair did an amazing job and though we thought they were going to lose it during the big lift, things continued, even if they were wobbly for a second or two. We loved it!
Judges Comments:
Jason Gardiner: 8 – Yours at time lacked the bounce in the shoulder we needed to see and the head wiggles I would have liked to see sustained more throughout the routine. But overall, a great fun start to the show.

Sanctum
Directed by: Alister Grierson
Cast: Rhys Wakefield, Richard Roxburgh, Ioan Gruffudd, Alice Parkinson
Running Time: 1 hr 46 mins
Rating: R
Release Date: February 4, 2011
complete Sanctum coverage
Plot: An underwater cave diving team go exploring through undiscovered Earth. When a storm hits, and the cave starts to flood, they must survive and try to find another way out.
Who’S It For? Explorers will finally feel like they have their movie, especially with the 3D.
Expectations: James Cameron’s name is all over this project … as an executive producer. That’s a huge different than director. The cast is pretty much unknown, so I wasn’t excited to see anybody. I even watched a preview, but the whole time I was trying to figure out why in the world this movie was rated R.

We can only imagine that when Carl Warner was little his mother had to say, “Don’t play with your food” — a lot. Clearly he didn’tlisten and now he’s turned tom-ato foolery into an art form… literally. Upside Down relates the rise and fall of Creation Records, arguably the most important British record label of the 1980s and ’90s, as told by those who were there and lived to tell the tale.
Eschewing voice over narration or gushing on camera tributes from well known admirers and critics, the filmmakers do an exemplary job of telling the happily sordid story of Alan McGee and his band of merry men (and women, although the label was very much a boy’s club) and their largely exultant romp through the music industry during its last burst of glory.
Launched in 1983 by Alan McGee, Dick Green and Joe Foster with profits from their successful Tottenham Court Road hipster club The Living Room (or a £1,000 bank loan, depending on which version of the story one believes), Creation initially released 7″ singles, including The Jesus & Mary Chain’s ‘Upside Down,’ one of the biggest...

Paloma Faith has admitted that Rebecca Ferguson is her favourite X Factor contestant this year.
The ‘Upside Down’ singer was speaking to Konnie Huq on The Xtra Factor when she revealed that, for her, Rebecca is the most classy finalist in the competition. She said:
“I have to say that I think Rebecca is an absolute breath of fresh air. I think she is the most classy, beautiful, inside and out, and I really really love her.”
She added:
“I just think she is absolutely stunning as well. I think she needs to come out of herself a bit on stage but there’s nothing wrong with a bit of self doubt from a true artist. We all hate ourselves in reality. That shows a real artist I think. It’s always the over confident ones that are the least talented. ”

In the recent retro-soul revolution a few standouts have emerged and German singer Oceana can be added to that list. Her debut album overflows with pop perfections, combining a mix of musical styles with brutally honest lyrics. Single "Cry Cry" uses a simple piano bounce and hand claps to tell a story of lost hope. The title track bursts with soulful energy over funk horns and a catchy drum beat. Her version of a ballad is certainly bittersweet ("Fucked Up Situation"). She pulls off reggae ("He Says", "Baby Hold On") and modern R&B ("Bad Boy") with equal ease. "Lala" is a fantastic candy-coated throwback to 60's pop and hip-hop beats drive "Upside Down". The down-tempo closer "You Need A Hug" is sweet but also features lyrics like 'it's not my fault you made the choice to be somebody's bitch'. It's a great album that also marks the arrival of a new talent to watch.
