For Angelina Jolie, sex scenes are easy

4 December 2009 11:26 AM, PST | ReelLoop.com | See recent Reel Loop news »

Angelina Jolie and sex pretty much go together like peanut butter and jelly, pants and shirts and, yes, even Megan Fox and photo shoots. She’s not the kind of person that has a problem getting naked and never had an issue filming sex scenes in her movies.

“I think it’s a bigger deal to be emotionally naked,” said Jolie, who filmed racy sex scenes with actor Ethan Hawke in the 2004 movie Taking Lives. She also shot “El Lesbian” scenes in Gia. “The thing is, if it’s important to the film, then just do it. It’s not a big deal to be naked.”

Mrs. Bradd Pitt added: “As for love scenes, it’s a strange thing for me but I can do a sex or love scene quite easily. A soul connection is very difficult. A physical thing is, for me, very easy. You find something about »

Upgrade Your Warner DVDs to Blu-ray for as Low as $7.95

17 November 2009 11:02 AM, PST | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

Warner Home Video just announced a new program where you can upgrade several of your DVD titles to Blu-ray for as low as $7.95, and right now the price doesn't go any higher than $9.95. This is a similar program to the Red2Blu offer they made allowing customers to upgrade their HD DVD titles to Blu-ray, a program I actually took advantage of and loved it as a result.

The process to upgrade is simple. Consumers select the titles they want to upgrade on DVD2Blu.com, mail in their standard DVDs with pre-paid postage and a short time later receive copies of the same film on Blu-ray Disc. Consumers who place orders over $25 will receive free shipping. For a complete list of titles visit DVD2Blu.com, but I have included the most recent list of titles and prices directly below. 10,000 B.C. ($9.95) Rush Hour 3 ($9.95) Full Metal Jacket ($9.95) Pan's »

Warner Bros. Launches DVD to Blu-ray Upgrade Program

17 November 2009 10:57 AM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Warner Bros. has announced a DVD to Blu-ray upgrade program.  While the list doesn’t include all their titles, it’s at least a start.  According to WB, the process to upgrade is simple.  Consumers select the titles they want to upgrade on DVD2Blu.com, mail in their standard DVDs with pre-paid postage and a short time later receive copies of the same film on Blu-ray Disc.  If you mail in one DVD, it’s $7.95 plus shipping.  If you order more than $25, you’ll receive free shipping.

While some people haven’t been converted to Blu-ray, I’m all in.  I think the picture quality is amazing on Blu-ray and I definitely see a difference between DVD and the HD format.  All I can say is, if you have an 1080p TV, the format is absolutely worth the investment.  For a complete list of what WB is willing to »

Pine & Caruso In Talks To Make ‘Money’

14 October 2009 12:49 PM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Variety is reporting that Chris Pine a.k.a the new Captain Kirk, and director D.J. Caruso (Eagle Eye) are in talks for the fact-based financial drama, The Art of Making Money. Paramount has put plans in place to fast-track the production for an early 2010 start having one of the leading men-of-the-moment and a successful action/thriller director attached will certainly boost the movie.

Paramount acquired The Art of Making Money based on a Rolling Stone article from 2005 by Jason Kersten, who himself turned it into a book called The Art of Making Money: The Story of a Master Counterfeiter, published last summer. The script is written by Frank Baldwin, and the film will be produced by Brian Robbins, Sharla Sumpter and Brad Weston. If the two officially sign onto the project, Caruso will, of course, direct and Pine will play, “Art Williams, the alias for a Chicago man »

‘Dead Space’ Video Game Adaptation On The Way

27 July 2009 10:43 AM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Yet another video game movie has been announced to be on the way to the big screen, this time it’s the hit sci-fi/horror-action game, Dead Space. The game is set to be adapted for film by Eagle Eye and Disturbia director, D.J. Caruso. He and Electronic Arts are looking at prospective writers and once they have one, they’ll wait on the “sign off” from EA about the creative direction before they start to auction it to the various studios.

Dead Space is a third-person sci-fi/horror/action game that’s set aboard an “interstellar mining ship” and follows an engineer called Isaac Clarke, who has to battle against an alien-like virus infestation that reanimates human corpses and turns them into grotesque creatures called “Necromorphs.”

Since it’s early on in the development stages, there’s no word how closely the Dead Space film will follows the game’s plot, »

Caruso's Dead Space

27 July 2009 8:45 AM, PDT | JoBlo.com | See recent JoBlo news »

EA has tapped D.J. Caruso to helm the adaptation of their survival horror game, Dead Space, for the big screen. Caruso is best known for Disturbia and Eagle Eye, but lest we forget, he was also behind Taking Lives and Two For The Money. Now that EA has a director, they’ll shop around for a writer and then start pitching the project to studios. Dead Space was a fantastic game, and if done right, could make for an excellent horror film, though I have to admit I’d be more »

Megan Fox in the Red Band 'Jennifer's Body' Trailer

6 July 2009 7:17 AM, PDT | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

I once mentioned in a review of Taking Lives that I could buy the Angelina Jolie character because her persona is so freaky that she probably would lay in a recently occupied grave. So perhaps it's fitting that Angelina 2.0 is pretty believable as a sex-crazed high school cannibal.

I'm refering, of course, to Megan Fox, she of the Transformers movies. The film in question is Jennifer's Body, which has been popular on websites, including this one, for about a year because of Fox's on-again off-again nude scenes. It's a horror comedy that co-stars Amanda Seyfried of Mamma Mia! and was written by Oscar winner Diablo Cody.

I know it's just a trailer, but you know what? With actual dialogue, as cleverly cheesy as it is, Megan Fox appears to do Ok. Put it another way: If this could be her breakout role, it looks like it would be her breakout role. »

New: U.K. Blu-ray releases for this week (11/5)

15 May 2009 8:09 AM, PDT | The Cinema Post | See recent The Cinema Post news »

It’s a relatively quiet week for Blu-ray releases in the UK, with Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott’s “Role Models” being the most publicized release nationally. AMC’s fantastic “Mad Men” Season One is finally available now too, and popular hits “Grease”, “Saturday Night Fever” and “Ghost” also arrive on the Blu. Taking advantage of the PR machine that is currently rumbling for Star Trek, Paramount have also released Star Trek 2, 3 4 & 6 in re-mastered editions, available separately. Check out our “pick of the week” and links to all of the new releases below.

Our pick of the week is an easy one: “The Truman Show”. In our opinion, this is Jim Carrey’s best performance other than for “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”, The Truman Show is about a man whose life is a nonstop TV show. Truman doesn’t realize that his quaint hometown is a giant »

This Week on DVD: Yes Man, Doubt, The Day The Earth Stood Still

7 April 2009 9:33 AM, PDT | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

An Oscar-nominated film, new comedies from Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler, and a mediocre Keanu Reeves sci-fi remake... that pretty much sums up this week's DVD releases. If you ask me, you'll probably want to save your money, although I wouldn't mind seeing I.O.U.S.A. (a pretty timely documentary from the director of Wordplay) and I've heard good things about Donkey Punch. There's also a 3-disc collector's edition release of No Country for Old Men out this week, plus Tango & Cash on Blu-ray. Doubt [1] (DVD, Blu-ray [2]) Yes Man [3] (DVD, Blu-ray [4]) The Day The Earth Stood Still [5] (DVD, Blu-ray [6]) Bedtime Stories [7] (DVD, Blu-ray [8]) The Tale of Despereaux [9] (DVD, Blu-ray [10]) Not Easily Broken [11] (DVD, Blu-ray [12]) Bricktown [13] (DVD, Blu-ray [14]) Donkey Punch [15] Shuttle [16] I.O.U.S.A. [17] Cleopatra: 75th Anniversary Edition [18] No Country for Old Men: Collector's Edition [19] (DVD, Blu-ray [20]) Beverly Hills: 90210: Season 7 [21] Max Fleischer's Superman: »

This Week On DVD and Blu-ray: April 7, 2009

7 April 2009 1:36 AM, PDT | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

DVD Links: DVD News | Release Dates | New Dvds | Reviews | RSS Feed Doubt I have this Blu-ray sitting right here and plan on popping it in as soon as I get done with this column and will hopefully have a review up in the next day or so. Doubt is a solid film with fantastic performances and with cinematography from Roger Deakins I am sure it will look gorgeous in high-def (even though Deakins didn't exactly bring his A-game to this one). The features, however, do look a bit on the weak side with four traditional featurettes and a commentary from writer/director John Patrick Shanley, but Shanley's comments may prove to be solid enough for a recommendation. However, all likelihood is this one is best left as a rental as I don't consider it a buy based on my one theatrical experience. No Country for Old Men (Collector's Edition) Along »

Blu-Ray Review: Horror of ‘Mirrors’ Shatters on Closer Inspection

20 January 2009 9:38 AM, PST | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – “Mirrors” is a so-so horror movie helped a bit by its interesting director’s visual flourishes and a better-than-average ensemble but ultimately shattered by an incoherent screenplay and dialogue that is more likely to produce laughter than shivers.

Kiefer Sutherland has not yet successfully made the transition back from TV star to movie star with a series of roles in his “24” years that could be deemed questionable at best. “Phone Booth,” “Taking Lives,” “The Sentinel,” and, now, “Mirrors”. It’s not a stellar string of decisions.

In one of the featurettes on the Blu-Ray version of his latest misfire, “Reflections: The Making of Mirrors,” it is implied that Sutherland discussed doing the project with director Alexandre Aja before reading a script. He might want to change that part of his role-picking process.

Mirrors was released by Fox Home Video on January 13th, 2009.

D.J. Caruso To Direct ‘Jack the Giant Killer’

7 January 2009 9:26 PM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

D.J. Caruso, director of such films as Disturbia and Eagle Eye, has been signed on to direct Jack the Giant Killer, a drama that takes a more adult look at the classic children’s story Jack and the Beanstalk.

The New Line Cinema produced film has been written by Mark Bomback (writer of Live Free or Die Hard and the upcoming Race To Witch Mountain) and produced by Neil Moritz (I Am Legend, Click). Here is the synopsis:

When a princess is kidnapped, a long-standing peace between men and giants becomes threatened, and a young farmer is given an opportunity to lead a dangerous expedition to the giant kingdom to rescue her.

As far as I can see this will be live-action which would be equal parts interesting and strange. To me this story would work very well done in some sort of animated form but live-action? That way it »
