- Errors in geography: When Scott is eating breakfast in the restaurant with the other detectives, a French-style police siren can be heard in the background. Canadian police sirens sound just like their American counterparts.
- Factual errors: The three lead police investigators all speak with Parisian French accents. Quebec French is as distinct from Parisian French as British English is distinct from North American English.
- Continuity: When Illeana throws something at the full-length mirror, all of the pieces on top fall out. In the next shot, we see her reflection on a piece of mirror that is back in place at the top of the mirror.
- Continuity: During the car chase, there are several shots from the point of view of the chase car. The barrel of the gun being pointed at the driver in the lead car is clearly an older style revolver. However, in subsequent shots and flashbacks we see that the gun is a more modern semi-automatic.
- Errors in geography: On the way to Mont Laurier from St-Jovite, Matt tells Martin that he's going to Seattle. Matt would have had to go towards Montreal in order to go to Seattle by bus - Mont Laurier is in the opposite direction
- Errors in geography: Although the movie is supposed to be taking place in Montreal, a police officer is wearing a "Ville du Quebec" uniform while Chateau Frontenac (also Quebec City) is shown in the background.
- Errors in geography: The police helicopters landing at the Moncton (New Brunswick) train station are Sûreté du Québec (Quebec provincial police) helicopters. Even if the SQ were authorized to carry out an intervention in New Brunswick, Moncton is over 200 kilometres from the Quebec border - there's no way those helicopters could have gotten there in the 20 minutes the police said they had.
- Errors in geography: While the movie is set in Montreal, Quebec, several scenes were filmed in Quebec City some 150 miles north east from Montreal. The bridge scene and Le chateau Frontenac are in Quebec city not Montreal
- Continuity: When Ileana hears LeClair being shot, she races into the building with her sunglasses on. She has no sunglasses the whole time she is in the apartment, but has them back on as she races down the stairs to chase the other car.
- Continuity: When Costa is Waiting for Hart in the bar, the bartender offers a refill and Costa is holding his empty glass (with ice in it). In the next shot, his glass is back on the bar and is full.
- Factual errors: After Duval is killed in the gallery he is referred to as "Agent Duval". Canadian law enforcement does not have an "Agency".
- Factual errors: Toward the end of the movie, when they show Carlisle, PA there is a shot of a signpost. One of the signs shows PA Route 322, but 322 is actually a US Route and would have a different shape outlining the sign.
- Crew or equipment visible: When the white Suburban is spiraling down the road after colliding with Matt (dummy)while changing the tire there is a crew member with a blue top and helmet and yellow pants behind a round hay bale in the field as the Suburban rolls by.
- Continuity: After colliding with Matt, the grill on the Suburban truck is broken. In the next shot, the truck is launched and spiraling in the air the grill is intact.
- Revealing mistakes: Matt Soulsby has a crew cut, however the dummy that hits the Suburban has hair that is over an inch in length.
- Continuity: After striking Matt Soulsby, the Suburban is veering hard left off the road, in the next shot it is heading straight.
- Errors in geography: As she enters the pharmacy at the end of the movie, the radio and subtitles talk about the weather conditions being threatening at Fort Collins. That city is in Colorado, not Pennsylvania.
- Factual errors: In the scene that takes place in Carlisle, PA. a road sign shows routes 322 and 22. Routes 22 or 322 (both of which are US routes, not PA routes as shown in the movie) do not go through Carlisle.
- Continuity: In the scene where they are digging up the body at the construction site, A body is shown with its arm and hand clearly showing. Yet at the morgue, and according to dialogue, the hands had been removed.
- Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): One of the Montreal police officers reassures Costa that the serial killer "won't get within 50 yards of you" - an unlikely remark from a Canadian who uses the metric system.
>>> WARNING: Here Be Spoilers <<<
Goofs below here contain information that may give away important plot points. You may not want to read any further if you've not already seen this title.
- Continuity: SPOILER: At the end of the movie, as Costa is making Illeana tea, after sneaking into her house, the choke-chain in Costa's back right pocket disappears and reappears between shots.
- Factual errors: SPOILER: When Costa puts Hart's dead body in the car it clearly is secured with the seat belt. That would prevent the head from hitting the windshield at all in the first place, even more so to hit it so hard so as to actually break a hole big enough for the head to protrude.
- Incorrectly regarded as goofs: SPOILER: When Agent Scott first drives Costa back to his apartment in the rain, she confirms the address, "219?". The shot then cuts to a building marked 188 and shows Hart standing in the entrance to this building, spying on Costa. We then see Costa entering a building, and the camera cuts back to Hart standing in the doorway of 188. While it is admittedly unclear, Costa does not enter building 188 and can be assumed by the viewer to be entering 219, since (as revealed later) a meeting with Hart would no doubt result in an altercation.
