The Box is based on a segment of The Twilight Zone called 'Button, Button,' the story for which was written by Richard Matheson. The segment was part of Season 1, Episode 20, the full episode of which is The Twilight Zone: Profile in Silver/Button, Button (#1.20). The segment starred Mare Winningham, Brad Davis and Basil Hoffman (who also has a role in 'The Box.') Matheson also was a writer for 'The Box,' which as a full-length movie, greatly expands on the original story in 'Button, Button.'

No, the song "Hello Zepp" (which is the "Saw" theme) is just used in the trailer.

As with "Saw," characters in "The Box" are forced to make difficult life-or-death choices, however the two films are unrelated.
