Time now for another Fave Five list, this time from one of TV's most original and prolific voices: Bryan Fuller. After the jump, the former Star Trek writer and creator of such critically acclaimed (and sometimes tragically short-lived) series as Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls, and Pushing Daisies shares the five pop culture moments that sent him into warp drive in 2009.

Is Heroes Coming To An End?

The cancellation that everyone has been speculating for the past 2 years may finally be upon us as the end may finally be near for our (used to be) favorite Heroes. Word is that everyone connected to the show expects the season to be the show’s last (makes this season’s title, “Redemption” seem like an ironic joke, huh?).
Said a source close to the show;
“Everyone is expecting this to be the last season. The cast, the crew, everyone.”
Not only is the entire production betting on the series ending, but main characters are now being cast in other shows. Our favorite geneticist, Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) has already been cast in the upcoming pilot (featuring a former Doctor Who) Rex Is Not My Lawyer – meanwhile, Dr. Suresh’s presence has been scarce this season, which doesn’t speak well for the future of the show.
While nobody could

Vampires may hog the zeitgeist at the moment thanks to the fanaticism for Twilight and True Blood, but two cast members of the immensely popular CW hit drama The Vampire Diaries bring allure to the age-old TV favorite of witchcraft. Jasmine Guy, who thrilled us for six seasons as fussy southerner Whitley Gilbert-Wayne on A Different World and two seasons on Showtime's underrated Dead Like Me, and newcomer Katerina Graham play a grandmother and granddaughter connected by their eerie abilities. Movieline caught up with the duo to discuss Vampire Diaries's Atlanta HQ, how viewers can survive during the show's hiatus, and the parts in the upcoming Soul Train movie that they're willing to take.

As Dollhouse disappears from TV, what other hitmakers' shows have been axed?

Joss Whedon show has been taken off air – for now at least – and looks unlikely to be back for a third season
Usually we'd have an episode-by-episode review of Dollhouse up at this point in the week. But not today – because it's disappeared from both UK and Us the schedules.
The fact that the latest show from Joss Whedon - who has Buffy, Angel and, Firefly among his credits - is missing comes as a disappointment (if not a shock) to its most ardent fans. While Dollhouse will have the chance to finish its Us TV run in December, and presumably its UK run not long after, that still asks a lot of viewers.
Problems with the show came after Fox in the Us decided the audience figures weren't strong enough - it has been in a notoriously difficult Friday night slot - and so for the duration of November

Will TV’s ‘Millennium’ Become a Movie?

Roland Emmerich is getting a lot of attention right now for his upcoming end-of-the-world-blow-absolutely-everything-up movie 2012. I’ll admit it, I’m a fan of Emmerich’s work, especially the ones in which he gives us unprecedented levels of destruction. Honestly, 2012 makes The Day After Tomorrow look like a warm up.
However, there was a television show that prophesied about the end of the world long before Emmerich planned the wanton destruction in 2012. The show was Millennium, created by The X-Files visionary Chris Carter. The show followed Frank Black (Lance Henrikson) as an ex- FBI agent with the ability to see into the minds of killers and track them down.
All this while dealing with the enigmatic Millennium group who tried to prevent the world from coming to an apocalyptic end in the year 2000 (hence the name). The show was pretty dark for its time but brilliant all the same. So brilliant it was inevitably canceled.

Superstar comic writer Geoff Johns is returning to the Smallville set this January, penning an episode which introduces the Justice Society of America to the long-running CW show.
Late last night, IGN revealed who will be playing the three members from the Jsa appearing on the show, most of whom are Stargate alums. Hawkman will be played by Michael Shanks (Daniel Jackson of Stargate fame), Brent Stait (Stargate Atlantis) will play Doctor Fate, and newcomer Britt Irvin will play Stargirl. Johns created Stargirl in the pages of the Jsa comic that he helped relaunch with FlashFoward co-creator David Goyer.
Previously, Johns wrote for the show last season, introducing the Legion of Superheroes. Currently, Johns is consulting producer on the Flash movie and is co-writing the screenplay with Jonny Quest writer Dan Mazeau. He’s also a producer on the Adult Swim show Titan Maximum which is brought to us by the guys behind Robot Chicken.

Longtime artistic collaborators Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner recently weighed in with their preferred actress to portray the lead character in “The Pro,” a proposed live-action adaptation of their 2002 graphic novel with writer Garth Ennis.
“The Pro”—a comedy which follows the misadventures of a prostitute who gains superpowers and reluctantly joins a superteam—has been in development as a potential animated series for several years. While a “killer demo” has reportedly been produced, the series itself has not found a home.
Over on his blog, Palmiotti revealed that the creative team is now considering “The Pro” as a potential live-action project. He also had a surprising casting choice for the lead character.
“My first and favorite candidate is Sarah Silverman,” Palmiotti explained. “First off, she is funny as hell and I think has the right attitude. Second, she can act...which is important for this to work and last,

[TV] Ghost Whisperer: The Fourth Season

Ghost Whisperer banks on the viewer's belief in the redemptive power of good deeds and the talent of the busty Jennifer Love Hewitt. If four seasons down with a fifth one under way is any indication, the series has a definite following. And, considering the test of loyalty the fourth season poses to its fans, the fact that it didn't spin out and lose its fans after killing off one its main characters says a lot for the show's future. Either way, what you get when you tune in to Ghost Whisperer falls somewhere in between Dead Like Me and the 2008 film Ghost Town: a woman can converse with ghosts and help them complete their "unfinished business" (thanks Casper) so they can pass into the Light (a blatant representation of heaven).
This may be one of the few seasons of a show where jumping in without any foreknowledge of

New Smallville Season 9 Clip: ‘Zod’

General Zod is one of those characters that has an interesting back story in the Superman franchise. The character was originally created in 1961 by Roger Bernstein and George Papp, but didn’t become remotely as popular as when portrayed by Terence Stamp in Superman I & II. Since then, each reincarnation of the character has only been a monument to that role. Until now, that is.
Callum Blue has been added to this season’s cast of Smallville as the general who was sentenced to the Phantom Zone after attempting to rebel against his Kryptonian government. He was released at the end of the last season, and looks to be building his own army already in tonight’s premiere.
Blue comes from the popular Showtime series Dead Like Me, so he’s no stranger to the world of fantasy. The irony of the in-place Smallville cast is that Terence Stamp is

Smallville premiere clips: Clark gets dark, Zod raises an army

Smallville can probably expect a big drop in viewership now that The CW has moved it to Friday nights, but fans won't want to miss this week's premiere to see the show move closer to Superman territory than ever before.
Friday's season opener finds Clark doing super good deeds, but he's also growing dark and distant from his friends, especially Chloe, who asks him for a very, very big favor. But Clark does manage to make some time for Lois, who - surprise! - needs a bit of rescuing after returning from her time-traveling trip.
And then there's Zod. In one of the clips below, Dead Like Me's Callum Blue does his best Terrence Stamp impression - and it's a pretty good one - while attempting to raise up an army full of ripped soldiers in tight outfits.
Head after the jump to watch the clips.Continue reading Smallville premiere clips: Clark gets dark,

Jasmine Guy To Put A Spell On "The Vampire Diaries"

Since The Vampire Diaries' Bonnie is quickly becoming my favorite character on the show, this casting news made my day…
According to TV Guide, Jasmine Guy (A Different World, Dead Like Me) has been cast as Bonnie's constantly aforementioned grandmother, who seems like a walking rolodex of the occult. I know you are going "Wait! If they are casting Jasmine Guy as a grandmother, what does that say about my age?!?!" In other words, is the casting a slap in the face of the 47-year old actress? Well according to TVFanatic.com and TV Guide Magazine, the show's producer, Kevin Williamson (Scream, Dawson's Creek), says that by having bewitching powers, you have the ability to prolong your age. TVFanatic.com also reports that Guy's character will be a local college professor and her class subject will be the occult.
Guy's first appearance is scheduled to be in the fourth episode of the series,

Neil Patrick Harris Returns Emmys To Glory

After an amazing job hosting the Tony Awards this past June, Neil Patrick Harris was tapped to host The 61st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.
How was he?
Yet again, pretty amazing. It seems as if he elevated the entire production to another level.
When the show first started and Neil came out singing, I have to be honest, I really didn’t enjoy it. I thought that while Neil has an amazing voice, the song just wasn’t anything great. Especially when compared to everything else that would happen during the course of the night.
Still, I didn’t give up hope. I love Neil Patrick Harris (Nph) and knew that ultimately he would do a great job. His background in acting, magic and Broadway created this perfect Doogie Howser showman. He didn’t disappoint. His jokes were great. His delivery was casual, but cool. I honestly believe that everyone in attendance thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

A few more days before the premiere of season 9 of Smallville and we're all ready to throw ourselves before the great Zod. It's not simply because he's one epic villain in the comic-book universe; it's also because the guy's going to be portrayed by actor Callum Blue.
I became familiar with him while watching Bryan Fuller's canceled series Dead Like Me, but apparently Callum Blue's more famous than I thought. He was already collecting souls on that series, could he be doing the same on this CW show? Perhaps, but he won't be spilling the beans too much until the new season airs.

Pushing Daisies’ Bryan Fuller Talks New NBC Projects; Collaborating with Bryan Singer on Sellevision

Last I wrote about venerable TV scribe Bryan Fuller, he was rejoining Heroes after the death of Pushing Daisies. In June, he left Heroes to pursue two other projects for NBC, and today we've finally caught wind of what he's been working on. Variety reports that he's adapting the Augusten Burroughs book Sellevision together with Bryan Singer as an hourlong dramedy. The series will follow the behind the scenes adventures of a home shopping network (could this be Fuller's Sports Night?). The second project is a half-hour sitcom, No Kill, set inside a no-kill animal shelter.
I'm glad to see Fuller taking on new territory by tackling a sitcom, but I'm far more interested in Sellevision because I'm a huge fan of his previous dramedy work with Dead Like Me and Wonderfalls (inasmuch as you can call that a dramedy). Also the idea of him collaborating with Bryan Singer sounds
