Strictly Come Dancing: the final liveblog | Carrie Dunn

19 December 2009 1:48 PM, PST | The Guardian - TV News | See recent The Guardian - TV News news »

After 14 weeks of dancing – 14 weeks! – Saturday night sees Strictly 2009 draw to a close. So which celebrity will win: Ricky Whittle or Chris Hollins?

6pm: Good evening, everybody, and welcome to the official start of Christmas, otherwise known as the Strictly Come Dancing final! One by one, the contenders have fallen by the wayside - whether it be judging decisions, ineptitude or injury that cast them aside - and now Chris Hollins and Ola Jordan (aka Team Cola, aka the hobbits) take on Ricky Whittle and Natalie Lowe (aka...well, nothing really. Apart from "him off Hollyoaks and the scary robot lady") to lift the sacred trophy. The first instalment of tonight's action begins at 6.35pm, and it's time to lay all the cards on the table - I'm firmly Team Cola tonight for their sense of fun and enthusiasm; if Ricky and Natalie win, they will certainly have been the »

Best. Gay. Week. Ever. (December 04, 2009)

4 December 2009 4:53 AM, PST | AfterElton.com | See recent AfterElton.com news »

It's Like Having 34,000 Kids. And You Better Not Have A Favorite!

In my last Best.Gay.Week.Ever! I included a collage to show the avatars of just a few of our wonderful AfterElton.com readers who make this site such a great, vibrant place. Just a nice way to show my appreciation with no possible repercussions, right?

Wrong! The squabbling between readers started almost immediately along with charges of favoritism and possibly bribes being offered to a certain editor. Honestly, I haven't seen so much arguing since the last Walker family dinner on Brothers & Sisters.

To assuage those hurt feelings and show that I don't have favorites, I've put together an even bigger collage of avatars chosen strictly at random! There are no favorites here! I love all 34,000 Ae readers equally! I swear!

Sadly, one of the most ferocious arguments that broke out over the previous collage was between »

Kristin Chenoweth Has "12 Men of Christmas" In New Lifetime Movie

3 December 2009 12:41 PM, PST | AfterElton.com | See recent AfterElton.com news »

She is one lucky woman.

It would be so easy to hate Kristin Chenoweth. She's got a voice that makes angels weep, an Emmy, gets to strut around the set of Glee, and now she's telling hot mountain men to strip and getting her feet rubbed by Cougar Town's Josh Hopkins. It's a good thing she's irresistibly adorable.

In her new Lifetime movie, 12 Men of Christmas, premiering Saturday, she plays a big city publicist who loses her job, and ends up in Montana running their tourism department. When she doesn’t get results from the natural beauty, she decides to go for the natural studliness of the men, and make a naked calendar. She calls it Calendar Girls meets The Full Monty. I call it the plotline that would have made me watch Men In Trees.

Since it is Christmas, Lifetime decided AfterElton.com readers had been good and »

✒The biter, it seems, has been bit. It is only a few short weeks since the BBC came under fire for scheduling Strictly Come Dancing against ITV1's The X Factor, only for the celebrity dance show to take a drubbing in the ratings. Now Top Gear is back on BBC2 but – what's this? – an hour later than its normal 8pm start time on a Sunday night, to avoid a clash with the ratings behemoth that is ... The X Factor. "We had no choice really," said Top Gear producer Andy Wilman. "X Factor on at the same time with the results show, Cowell on storming form, the whole nation glued – we know when to bravely bugger off and wait until the storm passes." If only they had thought of that with Strictly Come Dancing.

Kelly Brook Appears Completely Naked in 'Calendar Girls' Promo

3 November 2009 12:07 AM, PST | Celebrity Mania | See recent Celebrity Mania news »

A new promotional poster for West End show, entitled "Calendar Girls", has been released. In the shot, the play's star Kelly Brook is seen wearing nothing on her body. Her breasts and private part are only covered with some iced buns.

Daily Mail claims the poster that features Brook has been edited for three times before it is outed. Previously, the 29-year-old beauty posed holding two small buns in front of her chest. And since Transport for London (TfL) bosses consider the picture inappropriate to be shown to the public, they have ordered to make the buns larger. "[TfL] are worried about titillating customers," the show's producer David Pugh says.

Last month, it was announced that Kelly Brook would take on the role of Celia aka Miss September, who was initially occupied by Jerry Hall, in "Calendar Girls". The character is described as a trophy wife who gets married to a »

Miramax President Leaves Amid Massive Layoffs

30 October 2009 6:01 PM, PDT | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

Disney shrunk Miramax at the beginning of October, getting rid of about 75% of the work force. It wasn't a major studio with thousands of employees, but 75% is pretty much a work stoppage. Hard for 20-odd employees to really run a competitive shop in the movie business these days.

Perhaps that's what Miramax president Daniel Battsek thought, as well. He's leaving the company, which is being shuttled across the country from New York to Burbank.

"With the change in direction at Miramax, we have reached a mutual agreement with Daniel Battsek that he will leave his post as president, effective January 2010," said newly minted Disney chairman Richard Ross in a statement. "During his 18 years of service, he has brought some very prestigious and award-winning films to the studio from Calendar Girls to The Queen to No Country for Old Men. We wish Daniel the very best on his future endeavors."

Dog Of The Millennium Bounds To Screen

16 September 2009 12:47 AM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

There are heartwarming tales and then there's Endal, a pedigree Labrador who virtually single-pawedly cared for a disabled Gulf War veteran, saving his marriage, and, on one occasion, his life. It's the stuff movies are made of, and thanks to producer Simon Brooks (White Noise), it's now the stuff a movie will be made of. Brooks acquired the rights to the story after watching a TV documentary about Chief Petty Officer Allen Parton who, after suffering head injuries in combat, was assigned a charity-trained pup Endal to help with his day-to-day chores.Endal's resourcefulness went much further though: when Parton was hit by a car, the canine put him into the recovery position, covered him in a blanket and went for help. He could also use a cash machine, fetch items from supermarket shelves and load and empty a washing machine. Oh, and Endal himself had a lifelong disability »
