Sean dug up the gift Clara buried on the night of the party. Turns out she was Sean's lover. She makes Young Sean realize he isn't really the late Sean, because the real Sean would come to her instead of Anna.

He tells Anna he's not Sean and returns to his regular life. Nobody's sure how it happened.

Anna is emotionally devastated, having had her life upended by Young Sean and his revelation. She returns to Joseph and begs his forgiveness and they get married in a seaside ceremony. However, Anna is clearly shattered by the harrowing experience; she disappears from the wedding party and Joseph finds her walking in the surf in her wedding dress.
