The film centers on a hit man (Quaid) who gives an old acquaintance (Baruchel), a compulsive gambler, one hour to live.
Real Time is being financed by Serendipity Point Films, Telefilm Canada and Corus Entertainment and produced by January Films, Devonshire Prods. and APB Pictures. Maple Pictures will distribute the film in Canada, and Serendipity Point Films will handle worldwide sales.
Cole is a graduate of Norman Jewison's Canadian Film Center, where he made his first feature, 19 Months. Real Time will be shot outside Toronto.
Quaid's credits include The Ice Harvest and Brokeback Mountain and the upcoming Goya's Ghosts and Gary the Tennis Coach. He is repped by IFA Talent and attorney Matt Galsor.
Baruchel, who recently signed on to co-star in the Ben Stiller-helmed Tropic Thunder, next will appear in Judd Apatow's summer comedy Knocked Up. He is handled by CAA, Thruline Entertainment and attorney Jamie Feldman.
