I remember playing this game back in the 90's, that was when Jim Carrey ruled the planet. Not one, but three shows were based on his movies.

I was a fan of Jim, his movies and The Mask series. I also used to get the comics. Not the original ones that were horror based where Stanley Ipkiss put on the mask and actually started killing people he hated. But the comic that was based on the animated series.

I had no idea that there was a Mask video game until my sister popped into the video shop to get what was meant to be a different game. But she decided to rent out this instead.

So we took it home and played it. We only got up to level 2 because after we destroyed the tank, we had no idea where to go next.

Cut to 16 years later, and I realised that you had to drop down off the ledge.

After ordering it on ebay after all these years, what do I think of it now?

I think it is just okay.

There are a lot of things I like such as all the different moves the Mask could do:

You can do the tornado, the machine gun gag, the "Ahhhhhoooooooggaaaaaa" horn gag and you can run very fast.

And the way that they made each level based on the locations in the movie.

However, I do have a lot of problems with this game:

There are only 7 levels, the bosses take forever to beat (the final boss took me 15 minutes to kill and I had an invincibility cheat on!) and it could've been much more longer.

Not to mention that problem in level 2 that I mentioned earlier.

But if you're a fan of the movie, or if you're a 90's kid, give it a shot.

At least this game is a lot better than another game based on a movie starring Jim Carrey............ Batman Forever! (shudder)
