Risky Biz Blog is reporting that Training Day director, Antoine Fuqua, is in negotiations to helm Prisoners, (no longer “The Prisoners”) a film taken from a “hot spec script” written by Aaron Guzikowski. The script was said to have created a stir when it first appeared earlier this year, with high-profile actors Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg once attached to star, X-Men helmer Bryan Singer eyeing the director’s chair and a number of different studios looking to pick up the project.
However, soon after the producers of Prisoners sold the film to Alcon, reconfigured the project to have a lower budget (around the $30-40 million mark) and went forward without a cast for the time being, so that they could get things in motion faster. And it appears that the approach is working; the film is on the fast-track, and may go into pre-production shortly, with a “likely” January »

Warner Bros. has set Prisoners, a film that Antoine Fuqua is in talks to direct, on a fast track. The film is now in preproduction and scheduled for release on October 22, 2010. Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson of Alcon Entertainment will produce the film, which is only sparsely detailed.
What we do know is that Fuqua is a talented director — the man behind Training Day. He’s also had some duds, namely Tears of the Sun and Shooter. Writer Aaron Guzikowski is new on the scene, and the project generated buzz earlier this year as Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale were attached to star in the film — the latter with previously slotted director Bryan Singer.
Film School Rejects described the plot of the film back in April as “the story of a desperate man trying to find his kidnapped daughter, fighting resistance from law enforcement, seeking a very real revenge against his daughter’s captors. »

Aaron Guzikowski’s hot spec script “Prisoners” was supposed to have the hottest cast and the hottest director. Supposed to, anyway. The script has since lost its two would-be A-list actors, but the good news is that it’s replaced one A-list director with another. Out goes Bryan Singer, in comes Antoine Fuqua of “Training Day” and “Tears of the Sun” fame. THR reports that the revenge thriller, written on spec by Guzikowski, will start shooting as early next year for a Fall 2010 release. Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale were originally interested in playing the film’s two male leads. The film is now without a cast. “Prisoners” would have starred Wahlberg as a father in a small town who abducts and holds prisoner the man he believes is responsible for the abduction of his daughter and her friend. Bale would have played the big-city cop who shows up to »

Bruce Willis is actually two people. Superman Bruce is the cocksure, single-minded hardass who plays high-ranking military officers, professional hitmen, and world-rescuing oil drillers; he ruined Die Hard 4. Everyman Bruce is the emotionally bruised anxiety case who plays divorced alcoholics, blue-collar joes, and former heroes gone to seed; for me, he made Die Hard 3 the last great '90s action film, pre-Matrix. Both men are featured prominently in Surrogates, a documentary about career schizophrenia which opens this Friday. Okay, Surrogates is really a sci-fi shoot-em-up. But we can agree that there's a clear divide running throughout Willis' career between the action-god star persona seen in movies like Armageddon, Hostage, and Hart's War, and the messy, emotionally traumatizing performances he gave in films like 12 Monkeys, Pulp Fiction, and In Country. Based on the trailer, it seems that Surrogates is intentionally addressing this contrast. I certainly wouldn't put it past director Jonathan Mostow, »

Chicago – Satire (“Glee”), family comedy (“The Middle”), animation (“The Cleveland Show”), a remake of a soap classic (“Melrose Place”), and three medical dramas (“Mercy,” “Trauma,” “Three Rivers”) - this Fall TV season attempts to offer something for everyone. But is any of it worth watching? Is there another “Lost,” “Pushing Daisies,” or even a “Grey’s Anatomy”? Let us guide the way.
For the first time in years, there’s some excitement surrounding the new Fall TV season. We’ve been under the shadow of the writer’s strike for the last few seasons with very few breakout hits after Fall 2007 was cut short by the strike and Fall 2008 was underdeveloped because of its fallout.
The new comedy for the aspiring underdog in all of us premieres Wednesday, Sept. 9 (9:00-10:00 Pm Et/Pt) on Fox. Pictured Top row L-r: Chris Colfer, Jenna Ushkowitz, Kevin McHale, Matthew Morrison, Lea Michele, »

Welcome to Screen Rant’s weekly TV Update.
It seems that I’ve reported most of the developing TV news throughout the week. I’m exhausted but I still dug up a few more bits about the Gossip Girl spin-off, a Chuck tidbit, the move that Smallville is making.
And I’ve got the usual set of numbers for the ratings from last week.
Onward, my fair readers.
Gossip Girl Spin-off
The news is fickle and iffy that the Gossip Girl spin-off, tentatively titled Lily will happen. Over the front half of the week, sources say it’s dead in the water. Yet on Wednesday other sources are saying it’s not dead yet. We’ll find out for sure today (Thursday).
The source that says it is dead has been pretty accurate this week, so for the moment, I am leaning towards Doa.
Sorry folks.

Today’s Weekly TV Wrap Up will have a little One Tree Hill (Something a bit new, but a reader asked about the show.), some more on Dollhouse after the finale and Lie To Me news. We also touch on David E. Kelley’s disappointment, the dumping of a few shows by NBC and how Fox seems to be treating Ronald D. Moore’s Virtuality just like Dollhouse, but worse - If you can imagine that. I also have some David Tennant news for you.
Despite the season finales, it’s a bit of a quiet week for me. Of course, I have the TV ratings from last week and a bit of a surprise at the end of the post, if you make it that far.
Shall we get on with it?

This is the weekly TV update coming at you yet again. Today I chat about how Numbers has survived on Friday nights, I share my suspicions on what will happen with Chuck on NBC and I celebrate a bit about Fringe on Fox.
I’ll also touch on how the new Wolverine movie has already had its TV rights secured while I tell you about a couple of upcoming Sci-Fi Channel marathons, and then I’ll close with some depressing inclinations about Dollhouse and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. At the very bottom, past my ratings chart, I actually make a suggestion about an episode of Criminal Minds that I suggest hunting down to watch. (Yes, I make a recommendation.)
Let’s get on with it, shall we?

We’ve also got some syndication news on My Own Worst Enemy, Knight Rider and Dollhouse. Yep, syndication news on Dollhouse. That can’t be good. Read on folks!
Chuck Takes Fans To Subway
Though they feel they’re currently on the good side of the ratings / cancel bubble, the cast of Chuck are still trying to take care of their sponsors.
While the cast was attending a Starfury convention T1 event in Birmingham, U.K., a fan suggested they try to help the show by supporting a sponsor, in this case, Subway. Zachary Levi and Adam Baldwin (who else would have done this? »

It’s Thursday. That means another round of news from the TV landscape. This week, I’ve got some conjecture and observations with the occasional possible Spoiler in place.
There are some new shows coming up this weekend, some Dollhouse noise, Law and Order cast updates, Dr. Who tidbits and observations or questions about Life On Mars, ER and other shows. And Fyi, my ratings aren’t missing: I’ve moved the ratings section down towards the bottom of the post, right before my zany entries of the week!
Primeval
Primeval is starting up this Friday night on the Sci-Fi Channel. The ads look interesting enough. Anybody seen it? Anything you want to say about it? Without spoilers of course!
Sanctuary
For the Sanctuary fan, season 2 of Sanctuary has started filming, according to the Sci-Fi press release!
Fringe (Spoilers Where Noted!)
Fringe returned this past Tuesday, and is sticking around for 6 straight episodes. »
