When David Tennant hands over the keys to the Tardis on New Year's Day it will be the end of the most popular incarnation of Doctor Who of all time.
But there's bad news for new Doctor Matt Smith. In a poll of British TV viewers over 21 per cent of respondents put Ewan McGregor as their first choice to take over as the new Time Lord, with Matt Smith coming sixth.
Research commissioned by leading comparison site Gocompare.com reveals that of the 10 Doctors we've seen so far David Tennant is easily the most popular, with over 45 per cent naming him as their favourite.
Tom Baker, who played the Doctor from 1974 to 1981 in his trademark hat and long woolly scarf, was second with nearly 20 per cent of the votes, and Jon Pertwee's 'dandy' Doctor was third with just over 10 per cent. Tom Baker was the most popular Doctor among 36 to 40 year olds. …

From Hollywood Crush: It's not even 2010 yet, but already we're counting down the days until "Valentine's Day" hits theaters. Ensemble romantic comedies tend to be some of the better rom-coms that are put out nowadays (look at this year's "He's Just Not That Into You" or our personal Christmas favorite, 2001's "Love Actually"), and even though we have some reservations on how this particular star-fest will hold up, it's still something we can't wait to see.
The second trailer (see it after the jump!) hit theaters over the weekend, and it's definitely showing off its aspect that is getting all the buzz: its massive cast. We see in the trailer how much of the film will be spent interweaving its characters with one another, such as can be seen with Ashton Kutcher in particular and at the Anti-Valentine's Day party lead by Jennifer Garner and Jessica Biel.

What exactly makes a good Christmas flick? That is a question which has caused never ending debates at this time of year. On a day fraught with emotions (both good and bad) there is nothing like spending two hours in front of the television watching a story which, to use an all-too-familiar phrase, tugs at the heart strings. Every December the same films resurface in our local retailer. The faces of Bruce Willis, Will Ferrell, Bing Crosby and Macaulay Culkin stare out from the dvd shelves. Of course everyone has their own opinion but I thought I would give my all-time favourite Christmas film. It’S A Wonderful Life (Iawl) Made just after the Second World War in 1946 Iawl was star James Stewart’s first film upon returning from duty as a bomber pilot. Dismissed as mediocre upon its initial release the film became a household classic in the 1970s …

Actor Bill Nighy suffers from such severe stage fright, he feels physically ill before performing live.
The Love Actually star got his start in the theatre, and even once toured in a company with fellow British stars Julie Walters and Pete Postlethwaite.
But despite successful stints on Broadway and in London's West End, the actor still has panic attacks before stepping into the spotlight.
He says, "It gets worse and worse. It's like an illness. You get a shortness of breath, light-headedness and you feel nauseous.
"When I do a play, it's like agreeing to be ill for a couple of months. It's absolutely normal and appropriate to be scared. Everyone is scared - I know really, really famous people who are terrified every time they walk on to a stage." …

There are holiday movies -- White Christmas, Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer, Love Actually. There are unconventional holiday movies like Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang that true film fans dust off and play right alongside Bing Crosby. And then there are the movies that have absolutely nothing to do with the holiday season, but have powerful memories of the holly and the ivy. This is where you can tell me (and the world of Cinematical readers) just what they are.
Confused? Well, I'll give you mine. The biggest one for me is The Lord of The Rings series. It has absolutely nothing to do with Christmas, but if you can think back to the early years of the '00s, December was when the deluge of advertising began. They all had release dates of the third weekend in December, and the thrill just carried on through …

It’s Christmas so what better time to throw out a trailer for Valentine’s Day, the Titanic of rom-coms? Ensemble casting has worked in the past, but I dare you to imagine a film more stuffed to the gills with stars than this one. It’s as if the casting director looked up the top 20 searches on Google and job done.
If Love Actually tickled your fancy then it appears Warner Brothers’ film will delight, and as long as director Garry Marshall, whose reputation has risen and fallen on his handling of some of the biggest collisions of rom and com in the last few decades, can handle the cross cutting narratives and potential overdose of twee then you’ll be in for a treat.

Perhaps the least surprising thing about the new trailer for Valentine's Day is the final card that tells us the film will be released in February. That's going some, though, because there's absolutely nothing in the whole thing that will catch you off guard in any way. Judge for yourself, because we have it embedded below the break. Is this familiarity a crippling thing though? The movie is certainly a star studded affair and seems to have lots of comic situations and broad scope for complex romantic entanglements. Those are the generic requirements for a picture like this aren't they? Perhaps the truly clever twists and plot surprises are being kept back for when you're actually watching the film. That was certainly the case with He's Just Not That Into You, Love Actually and Feast of Love, the three films this one most closely resembles. I know that Joe Jonas …

While the upcoming romantic comedy Valentine’s Day may have gotten tabloid notice thanks to the supposed romance that Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner developed while working on the film, the new trailer for the film looks like it might just be able to stand on its own without the accompanying gossip to help it.
Valentine’s Day features a huge ensemble cast full of big name stars. Among said stars are: Julia Roberts and niece Emma (it’ll definitely be interesting to see the younger Roberts hold her own in the same movie as her superstar, award-winning aunt); two of Hollywood’s most lusted after actresses, Jessica Alba and Jessica Biel; That 70s Show costars Ashton Kutcher and Topher Grace; Grey’s Anatomy’s Drs. McDreamy and McSteamy, Patrick Dempsey and Eric Dane; movie and music stars Jamie Foxx and Queen Latifah; funny man Bradley Cooper; America’s current …

On the last day before closing for the holidays, Wme and Industry Entertainment sealed one final deal for the year. Warner Bros. spent nearly $2 million to buy a script by Dan Fogelman, writer of animated pic Cars.
The script is said to have a vibe similar to Love Actually, and follows a father trying to maintain his relationships with his kids in the midst of a marital crisis.
Fogelman wrote the story specifically for The Office star Steve Carell, which is partially responsible for the high price of the script.
Carell is still weighing his options for what his next film will be, so isn’t yet attached to the film as a star, but will serve as producer for the project under his own Carousel banner.
Other possibilities for Carell to take the lead will also be produced by Carousel, with Mail-Order Groom, starring Tina Fey, being a front-runner for Carell. …

Did you like the movie Love Actually? Are you a fan of Ashton Kutcher, Kathy Bates, Anne Hathaway, Jamie Foxx, Jessicas Alba, Jessica Biel, Bradley Cooper, Shirley MacLaine, Patrick Dempsey, Topher Grace, Queen Latifah, Taylor Swift, Taylor Lautner, George Lopez, Eric Dane, Hector Elizondo, Jennifer Garner, Emma Roberts or Julia Roberts?
If you answered yes to any of the above, you’re probably going to want to see director Garry Marshall’s (Pretty Woman) new movie Valentine’s Day next February 12th. That’s because the movie is following the playbook of Love Actually and loading itself up with tons of movie stars and telling the story over the course of one day. It just so happens the story takes place on Valentine’s Day.
As someone who really enjoyed Love Actually, I’m very curious about this movie. Also, with a cast like this, how can I not be curious? …

With relatively sparse purchases being made from the spec script market in 2009, it's interesting to see that what could actually be the biggest spec script sale of the year occurred so very late in the game as Variety reports that a still untitled script by Dan Fogelman (Cars, Fred Claus, Bolt) that was written as a dramatic vehicle for Steve Carell has been picked up by Warner Bros. in a deal worth nearly $2 million. Similar to that of the Alan Rickman/Emma Thompson portions of Love Actually, the story has Carell as a father whose life unravels while he deals with a marital crisis and tries to manage his relationship with his children. Fogelman's recent work has brought lackluster family entertainment in the forms of Bolt and Fred Claus, but if Warner Bros. was willing to shell out that much money for a spec script, then I hope it's leaps …

Variety reports that Warner Bros. is betting big on Steve Carell and Cars writer Dan Fogelman. The studio has just paid $2 million against $2.5 million for an untitled spec script by Fogelman with the intention of having Steve Carell star in it. Oddly enough, the film doesn’t sound like an expensive movie nor does it seem like it’s the kind of movie Carell typically stars in. According to Variety, “Script has a tone comparable to ‘Love Actually.’ Carell will play a father whose life unravels while he deals with a marital crisis and tries to manage his relationship with his children.” I guess WB really, really like Dan in Real Life.
Fogelman wrote the script specifically with Carell in mind but there’s only a 50-50 shot Carell will do the film during his hiatus from The Office. The other film is one we reported on a couple days …

Apparently Steve Carell can't leave the house without being offered a new movie project. Just yesterday we heard that he and Date Night co-star Tina Fey will likely reteam for the comedy Mail Order Groom, and now Warner Bros. has paid a tidy $2 million for a spec script written specifically for Carell. The news comes from Variety, the site with the impossible to navigate paywall, but here's what I can gather: Carell will play a father dealing with a marital crisis and trying to build a relationship with his children, all with a tone that's somehow similar to Love Actually. The film is a likely candidate for Carell's next project during hiatus from The Office next summer, with the Mail Order Groom also in there somewhere. Interestingly, this spec script means that Warner Bros. is postponing Get Smart 2 for the second year in a row, making it all the …

I wish I had enough sway in Hollywood that studios would seek out script rights just so that I could be put in the film. That’s what The Office star Steve Carell’s life is like, living the new American dream.
Warner Bros. has just picked up an untitled script by Cars writer Dan Fogelman for $2-2.5 million dollars, in what is being called the biggest spec script sale of the year. Fogelman has just hit the jackpot, it seems.
According to Variety, the film will have “a tone comparable to Love Actually. Carell will play a father whose life unravels while he deals with a marital crisis and tries to manage his relationship with his children.” I’m glad to see they’re taking the Little Miss Sunshine semi-serious route instead of goofy stuff that tempts talented actors like Carell away from their successful careers.
Apparently Fogelman wrote …

As seems to be the norm these days, Steve Carell is in heavy demand. Just yesterday we reported on the Mail Order Groom comedy he's pondering as a likely reunion with Date Night's Tina Fey (and that film is still awaiting release). And now Warners - with whom he has a development deal anyway - is trying to woo him with a comedy pitch.Given that his moviemaking time is limited thanks to his commitments to The Office, he's a picky man, so the studio has splashed out $2 million to buy an untitled spec written by Cars scribe Dan Fogelman. There aren't that many details about the possible pic, but according to Variety, it's a Love Actually-style blend of the bitter and the sweet about a man dealing with a marital crisis and attempting to restore his relationship with his kids.Fogelman apparently wrote the thing with Carell …

It's been six years since Olivia Olson performed the second most-famous rendition of Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" as Joanna, "the one" for Sam (Thomas Sangster), in 2003's Love Actually. Since we find ourselves wondering where she is every time we watch the movie — which is frequently this time of year — we decided to find out. Now 17, and a senior in high school, Olson voices Vanessa Doofenshmirtz, the evil scientist's daughter, on the Disney show Phineas and Ferb. In a nice twist of fate, Ferb is voiced by Sangster and has a crush on Vanessa. …

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the highest grossing actress of the aughties 2000s I-don't-know-what-to-call-'ems is Emma Watson. All six of her live-action films this decade just happen to be the six Harry Potter films, which have conjured $5.4 billion worldwide, or roughly $900 million per film. (Guinness actually only measured the first five Potter films, but PopWatch is a full service pop-culture blog. You're welcome.) But if you want to know who Guinness believes is Ms. Watson's male counterpart as the decade's highest moneymaker, you're out of luck.
