David Caruso is Lt. Horatio Caine, the former homicide detective who leads the Miami forensics unit in the first spin-off of the hugely popular crime investigation series. Emily Proctor co-stars as the famed “bullet girl,” a ballistics specialist almost as driven at Horatio, Sofia Milos is Detective Yelina Salas, who just so happens to be his dead brother’s widow, and Khandi Alexander, Adam Rodriguez, and Jonathan Togo round out the team, each bringing a specialty to the unit that is, invariably, essential to solving the crime at hand, and they take pains to explain it to each other in every episode.
