'Jersey Shore' star Snooki to haters: 'Don't watch'

30 December 2009 5:51 PM, PST | Zap2It - The Dish Rag | See recent Zap2It - The Dish Rag news »

"Jersey Shore" stars (from left) Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola, Jenni "J-Woww" Farley and Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi are in the newest edition of New Jersey magazine "Steppin' Out."

The interview's a real doozy. Enter at your own risk.

"Steppin' Out" might be the scariest magazine we've ever seen. It appears to only consist of pictures of unattractive women in "Steppin' Out" tanks and underwear and advertisements for bars, restaurants and strip clubs.

Anyway, once you can tear your eyeballs away from all of that, you can read the interview with the "Jersey Shore" braintrust of (from left) Sweetheart, Snooki and J-Woww.

Highlights include:

Sweetheart -- "All the negative publicity is making us more famous. The show didn't really get a lot of attention until Unico came out and started doing interviews all over the news.  They made the show popular."

Snooki on being a Jersey girl -- "You have to have big hair and go tanning. »

By now you've read all about the title change for Kevin Smith's new movie. But have you seen the trailer? Here it is, embedded below. Looks pretty hilarious to me (just the sight of Tracy Morgan stuffing those tortilla chips in his mouth had me laughing.) What do you think? Is Cop Out going to be brilliant or the next Jersey Girl? »

Kevin Smith Explains Why A Couple of Dicks Became Cop Out

26 December 2009 2:51 AM, PST | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

Two weeks ago, word spread that Kevin Smith's buddy-cop homage A Couple of Dicks, starring Bruce Willis and Tracey Morgan, was getting a new title. The new title, Cop Out, is much tamer and less memorable than its predecessor, much to Smith's chagrin. Smith explained to EW the pain he endured in having to change the title.

Look, losing A Couple of Dicks was almost akin to losing my own d**k. It was a perfect buddy-cop movie comedy title. Everyone knew it. You couldn't say that title to somebody without a f**king smile crossing their face. But what I had gone through with Zack and Miri Make a Porno — "porno" had become very problematic, it became tough for us to advertise [the movie], blah blah blah. Warner Bros. decided, "Hey man, we'll call the networks and see if we're going to get any problems [with A Couple of Dicks as a title], months before the movie's ever going to come out. »

Kevin Smith on why 'A Couple of Dicks' became 'Cop Out'

23 December 2009 10:46 PM, PST | EW - Hollywood Insider.com | See recent EW.com - Hollywood Insider news »

The new trailer for the upcoming buddy cop comedy Cop Out just hit the internet, but anyone who had been following the project knows the film, out February 26, 2010, had long gone by a more distinctive title: A Couple of Dicks. Fortunately, the film has an even more distinctive director: Kevin Smith, the famously profane indie film hero (Clerks, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Zack and Miri Make a Porno) making his debut as a director of a script he did not write himself. Smith was more than happy to give EW his frank perspective on how A Couple of Dicks became Cop Out -- in a nutshell, »

Movie Preview: Sherlock Holmes (Starring Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law)

23 December 2009 8:18 AM, PST | ScreenStar | See recent ScreenStar news »

Sherlock Holmes (2009) is back in action, along with his legendary companion, Watson. The year is 1891. There's a conspiracy underway to destroy Britain, and it's up to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's most famous characters to thwart it. This latest challenge may be the most sinister ever faced by the duo, and they respond in ways never before revealed. Robert Downey, Jr. takes on the role of Sherlock Holmes, and Jude Law tackles the part of Watson, his trusted ally. The action/adventure/mystery is set to open in theaters on December 25th. The film was directed by Guy Ritchie, who admits to being a long-standing fan of the sleuths. Ritchie was initially of the opinion that Downey was too old for the part of Sherlock Holmes, since he wanted the film to portray a younger version of the character who he says "was on a learning curve." Downey felt the »

Actress Alyssa Milano Channels Her Inner "Jersey Shore" Look For Video Spoof

21 December 2009 9:52 PM, PST | icelebz.com | See recent iCelebz news »

Former "Who's The Boss" cutie Alyssa Milano takes aim at the cast of MTV's "Jersey Shore" with a new Funnyordie.com video.  In the over one-minute clip, the Italian-American actress transforms herself to a Jersey girl guidette castmate with plenty of bronzer, eyeliner, and lip gloss and a little help from the Photoshop toolbar, too.

The video ends with a disclaimer, stating "No wonder our perception of Jersey is distorted."

The controversial reality show, which sees 8 Italian-American twenty-somethings from New York take over the Jersey Shore for a summer of fun and mischief, has received plenty of criticism from Italian-American groups and even from New Jersey Tourism officials of its portrayal of Italians in an unflattering light.

Reason: It’s really tough to pick a film from 2009 for this list. Have I given it the proper amount of time? Will I feel the same way? »

The Notable Films of 2010: Part Two

16 December 2009 3:18 AM, PST | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

Case 39

Opens: January 1st 2010

Cast: Renée Zellweger, Jodelle Ferland, Ian McShane, Bradley Cooper, Kerry O'Malley

Director: Christian Alvart

Summary: A family services social worker thinks she has seen it all until she meets her newest, most mysterious case - a troubled 10-year old girl whose parents try to kill her. The social worker decides to take her in herself until the right foster family comes along.

Analysis: Despite the presence of promising German director Christian Alvart ("Pandorum"), 'Case' has sat on a shelf since late 2006 and is finally being quietly shuffled out this year for one very good reason - it stinks. Having opened in Australia a few months back, reviewers utterly savaged the film as both incredibly dumb and utterly ludicrous. Lead star Renee Zellweger also scored personal criticism to a level rarely seen in film reviews outside of comments about Nicole Kidman's 'more alien than the »

'Jersey Shore' recap: Ruined relationships, but perfect hair

11 December 2009 3:11 AM, PST | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

The Guido is a fascinating specimen. It migrates south in the summer from its traditional stomping grounds in Staten and Long Islands to the glittering shores of New Jersey. The males can be recognized by their faux-brown coat and a thick mane of immovable hair. Like in most species, the female appears to be attracted to the strongest in the group. After the requisite 15-20 minutes of courtship they begin their mating ritual, scientifically known as “vibing.” A group of Guidi (the plural) is known as a gaggle. Being half-Italian and from Jersey, I see it as my duty to »

Kevin Smith Comedy Changes Title

9 December 2009 5:44 AM, PST | FilmShaft.com | See recent FilmShaft.com news »

It was never going to work, was it? Yes, it was funny. Whenever you muttered it or said it aloud: “A Couple of Dicks.” And no, it wasn’t a sequel to Smith’s Zack and Miri Make A Porno. The dicks is a reference to private detectives. So now, the film has been castrated of its title and shall be dickless. Via Twitter, Smith announced:

“The Movie Formerly Known as A Couple Of Dicks has finally settled on a (network-policy-dictated) replacement title! While we’ll always have Dicks in our hearts, the title we just now locked makes me smile on a bunch of different levels – including this 1: we can now advertise our movie properly (& ironically). And said marketing begins… on every print of Sherlock Holmes, Christmas Day!”

For added marketing and anticipation Smith is not revealing the new title quite yet, saying:

“That kinda thing’s above my pay-grade, »

Blu-Ray Review: Beloved Kevin Smith Films Released in High Definition

23 November 2009 3:38 PM, PST | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – Very few filmmakers provoke the same kind of passionate adoration as the sometimes-great Kevin Smith, a man who has such a following that he can sell out large theaters filled with people who merely want to ask him questions for hours. Smith is a charismatic, interesting, clever filmmaker and his best work reflect his gregarious personality. Three of his best are captured in “The Kevin Smith Collection,” including two films with all-new Blu-Ray material.

Blu-Ray Rating: 4.0/5.0

If you were designing the Kevin Smith set and could only pick three films, what would you choose? The man has directed eight full-length feature films and we can probably cut “Jersey Girl” from consideration from the beginning, leaving seven to choose from. Personally, I would go with three different periods of his work and choose “Clerks,” “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back,” and “Zack and Miri Make a Porno,” but then that »

Blu-ray Review: The Kevin Smith Collection

17 November 2009 2:00 AM, PST | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

I am an unashamed Kevin Smith fan, and primarily of his earlier, less mature work. If there's such a thing as quality dick and fart joke movies, I would say Kevin's pre-Jersey Girl films fit the description. While I wasn't a big fan of either Clerks 2 or Zack and Miri Make a Porno, films such as Clerks, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Mallrats and Dogma are personal comedic favorites of mine and Miramax's Kevin Smith Blu-ray collection brings two of those along with what may be Smith's most respected film, Chasing Amy, home in a tidy little package.

To begin, the collection includes the first ever Blu-ray releases of Clerks and Chasing Amy as well as the previously released Blu-ray edition of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. If you already own the Jay and Silent Bob Blu-ray this is the exact same thing with the included audio commentary, »
