Diesel: 'Publicists Couldn't Handle The Pace Of Fast & Furious'

Vin Diesel's former publicists couldn't handle the sudden success of his new Fast & Furious film - and fired him, according to the action star.

42 West bosses reportedly parted company with the XXX star after he arrived four hours late to a press junket in Los Angeles on the eve of the film's release last week (ends03Apr09), but the actor insists there was more to it than that.

He tells Entertainment Weekly magazine, "Was I late? Yes, I was. But I was sick. And I did show up, even though I was sick.

"I think the publicists were so overwhelmed, with so much going on, they just cracked. They freaked out."

42 West bosses have refused to comment on their decision to part ways with Diesel, other than to insist the split was "amicable". »
