Hollywood Goes Ape! is Donald F. Glut's companion piece to DINOSAUR MOVIES, this time offering a comprehensive look at apes, both giant and regular size, in Hollywood movies. This one's not quite as enjoyable as DINOSAUR MOVIES, mainly because the presenters are more annoying than Glut himself was in that feature, with the unknown Ashley Austin really wooden and Bob Burns over the top at times.
Otherwise it's business as usual, with plenty of poor-quality clips used to illustrate the films discussed and a handful of interviews with genre personalities, including Ray Harryhausen and Forrest J. Ackerman. Burns himself played an ape in various cult fare from the 1960s onwards so he gets to share some of his own expertise. Fans will be delighted by all this.
