The life of Monty Python member Graham Chapman, who died in 1989 at the age of 48, is slated to become the subject of a film produced by Los Angeles-based indie Hippofilms, the company announced Tuesday. According to its news release, the film, titled Gin and Tonic, will be co-written by Jim Yoakum, Chapman's onetime writing partner, and David Eric Brenner (Rent Control) who will also direct. In the statement, Brenner, president of Hippofilms, described Chapman as "not only a comic genius, but also a complicated and serious man who battled his demons in private and public." (Chapman's death has been variously attributed to throat cancer or AIDS.) »
