  • Factual errors: A soldier radios in "... , I repeat...”. In UK signals, "repeat" is reserved for artillery fire; correct would have been "I say again".

  • Errors in geography: The M602 is not 26 miles northeast of Manchester, as was mentioned in the looping radio broadcast from the army. It runs east-west, straight from the centre of Manchester, for about 5 miles.

  • Continuity: When Jim is walking through London, there is a shot of Big Ben and the clock face reads 8:15, however in the next shot the clock appears to read 6:40.

  • Crew or equipment visible: When Frank has been shot and the soldiers are approaching his body, you can see a cameraman lying down at the right of the screen in front of a concrete block. He's clearly visible for about three seconds.

  • Crew or equipment visible: When the camera pulls back to show Manchester aflame, if you look at the south bound lane of the motorway, you can see a row of flashing lights in the distance. This is the police keeping the traffic back so that the road looks clear. Also if you look to the left of the lights about two seconds later, you can faintly see a car drive by in the distance.

  • Revealing mistakes: When the soldiers are marching Jim and Sergeant Farrell off to shoot them, they are standing by piles of dead people. A few of the dead victim's chest can be seen rising and falling.

  • Revealing mistakes: During the first shot of Centre Point at Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Street, on the left side of the screen, a man can clearly be seen changing the bags of a dustbin to the right of the stationary lorry.

  • Continuity: In the first shot of Centre Point at Tottenham Court Road, only one lorry is parked beneath the building. However, in the second shot that is slightly closer up, a second one has appeared parked in front of the first.

  • Continuity: As we cross a deserted Westminster Bridge, if you glimpse in the background, you can see the traffic lights at the junction of Bridge Street and Victoria Embankment at red., but the National Grid has been shut down.

  • Continuity: In the night sequences at the mansion, despite torrential rain, thunder and lightning, a full moon is seen shining brightly in a clear sky over the mansion.

  • Errors in geography: In the opening scene Jim is seen walking northwards over Westminster bridge, moments later he is crossing Waterloo bridge in the same direction. This would be impossible.

  • Continuity: Towards the end of the movie, Hannah crashes the car through the gate. But in the next scene, the car is seen without any damage at all.

  • Factual errors: Major West's SA80 fires many more rounds than would likely be in the magazine.

  • Continuity: When the jeep returns to the mansion after picking up Jim, Selena and Hannah from the roadblock, two soldiers open the gate to let the jeep into the grounds. The black soldier is played by Marvin Campbell, who plays Private Mailer, the soldier tied up in the backyard. On the DVD commentary, Danny Boyle explains this continuity error came about because he was so impressed with Campbell in the few small scenes he had shot that he decided to promote him into the as yet uncast role of Mailer. All of Campbell's already shot scenes were then deleted from the film, except the one of him opening the gate.

  • Crew or equipment visible: As Jim looks out the window of Frank's taxi a few seconds after they first leave the apartment, two cameramen are clearly visible standing atop a rooftop in the window's reflection.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When the Private Bell tells Jim that he is out of ammo as he runs out the window, he says that he is out of bullets, but soldiers are trained to call it by its proper name which is ammunition or simply ammo.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): In the scene where Frank and Jim are on top of the apartment building talking about the lack of rain, you can clearly see that among the many buckets for gathering rain there are two laundry baskets designed with holes in them.

  • Revealing mistakes: (At 10:30) You can see another person walking up a distant sidewalk. Since Jim is calling out for someone, this person would have heard Jim or Jim would have saw him. Clearly, this is an error and this person is not participating in the movie.

  • Plot holes: In the beginning of the movie, it shows that the Rage Virus makes people lose a lot of blood. Yet, when Jim is walking around the destroyed hospital and streets, there is no blood seen.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Jim walks into his old house, 2 men are seen (probably relatives) holding a picture of him. Their nails hint that they have been dead awhile. Yet, the skin has not turned color after being dead for weeks. And, after one dies, unlike popular rumors, hair and nails do not keep growing.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: It is revealed in the movie that Rage can be passed on from man to animal or animal to man, and by means of biting, or blood of the infected landing in the victims mouth, eyes or nose. We never see any infected dogs or birds of prey on the loose in the movie, but this makes sense because the virus might very well require a host more closely related to humans, like the chimps from which the outbreak originally began. This is reinforced when we see the horses that are not infected.
