So what it’s only been two years since the release of The Mist? The movie rocks - and merit’s repeated viewings. Even the delusional Stephen King haters can’t deny that! If you (for some reason) opted to avoid this flick upon it‘s initial release - take a few minutes to read this, then slap yourself in the face, get into your car - hit your local Blockbuster and rent this fine piece of work!
Director Frank Darabont has once again crafted a beautifully tragic Stephen King story into a stellar major motion picture. Darabont worked with King previously to create the blockbuster hits Shawshank Redemption, and The Green Mile, two excellent stories that made for highly successful, and very well put together films. While the storyline behind The Mist has a bit more 'horror' based content than the aforementioned films, Darabont has managed to extract similar power, »

I know, I know - why in the world would I choose Dreamcatcher and The Faculty as a face off feature? Because they’re two pretty damn entertaining modern invasion films - that’s why! There are so many differentials between these two films it’s ridiculous. I understand, and openly confess my knowledge. But in the end, both of these are invasion flicks, and both are truly enjoyable pieces by a pair of talented film makers.
Dreamcatcher: Dreamcatcher centers on a group of five life long friends, connected by not only kinship, but a series of magical powers unique to each character. At the center of this mystical gift lies Duddits (Andrew Robb as a child, Donnie Wahlberg as an adult) a mentally challenged child befriended by a young group of outcasts consisting of Henry (Mikey Holekamp as a child, Thomas Jane as an adult) Devlin, Beaver (Reece Thompson as a child, »

If you've caught George A. Romero at a convention appearance in the last year or so, he's quick to clarify that he has nothing to do with the remake of his now-classic film The Crazies. Yet, he's still listed as an "executive producer" anytime a new press release goes out. This weekend at the Fangoria Weekend Of Horrors in Chicago, he was asked during his panel exactly what his thought were on the new Crazies feature and what his involvement is exactly. Thankfully, the fiends over at Dread Central got his quotes!
“I just actually read the script for the first time this weekend while I was here. I was never involved with anything in creating the remake, and I have no involvement with the new version of The Crazies at all. I know they have me listed as one of the Executive Producers on the project, and honestly, I am not sure why. »

Our second stab at the Oscars contains make-up effects and score (read part 1 here). The make-up effects, followed by the visual effects and technical awards, remain my favorite parts of the show; here you got to see your heroes: Rick Baker, Howard Berger, Chris Walas or Rob Bottin in the audience. Even the great Stan Winston could have been out there, back in the day. Though best known for his “visual effects” wins—he brought home an Oscar for best make-up in 1991 for Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
Here genre fans can rejoice, Greg Cannom brought home the gold, again, for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Cannom, a genre elder, worked alongside (just to name a few) Fincher, Coppola, Landis, Dante, Blatty, and Cohen creating all sorts of character and creature make-ups.

Now that the vampire phenomenon has completely infiltrated my list of media streams, I must stand and be accounted for. I am Not a “Twilighter,” and I cannot fathom how anyone could be.
Within the screaming masses of America’s teen hearts, a personal attachtment to these characters has vice-gripped our youth. Thousands of our sisters, daughters and friends are choosing sides in an unknown divide. Twilight is being hailed as the next great young adult series with a twist of fantasy.
But there’s something particularly odd about it altogether, and it isn’t just the undead.
The story is of a seventeen year old Bella Swan, who moves to the small town of Forks, Washington and has a run in with some vampires. Living with her father after her mother remarries a minor league baseball player, she quickly makes friends at her new high school. The Cullens, a »
