lovely

Lovely sounds just fair to define this short film reminding not only sweet way to see Christmas, but all the great flavors of Wind in the Willows.

It is more than a beautiful short Christmas animation but a touching eulogy of friendship, help, childhood universe, help and comfortable Christmas Eve after a long way, not the most easy.

So, the gift is the pleasant, to useful state of heart after its end, because it works more than inspired, moment by moment, proposing soft, warm atmosphere and so familiar but nice redescovered characters.

In short, a special short animation, the vulnerable Mole and the so realistic Rat proposing the beautiful gift for entire family.

Superb Christmas Special, Right up there with How The Grinch Stole Christmas
LT-1026 February 2001
Mole's Christmas is really the perfect christmas cartoon or special. I've seen a lot of Christmas programming and this one is on par with The Grinch. What makes it so good? It isn't cheesy and about the quest for the true meaning of christmas (The only good one about that is the Grinch). The story is heartwarming; the animation is colorful. It was taken from The Wind in The Willows, and is just as good as the chapter it is based on. I first saw Mole's Christmas on CBC here in Canada. I had to have it, I knew I should have taped it! So began my quest to find it on VHS. It was released on VHS but now it is out of stock, but I bought on moviecd format. Simply it is a movie on a CD-ROM. Another great thing is that Mole's Christmas is that it's part of a series, The Wind in The Willows Collection. There are two more titles in this series, and you can get those ones also. This is one of the best cartoons I've ever seen. Buy it or tape it if you see it on TV in the christmas season. You won't regret it. Without a doubt 10/10, and this is only the 2nd 10/10 I've ever given.

A delightful Christmas treat
TheLittleSongbird7 December 2009
When I was 10 or so, this was 7 years ago mind, this was on almost Christmas. It is a shame really that I haven't heard from it for like three years. But I will say from the many times I saw it when it was on, as we recorded it on tape but have sadly lost the video since then, it is a real underrated Christmas treasure. The animation is wonderful, with lovely colours and backgrounds, and the story is simple and heart warming. I thought the inclusion of the little carol singers was most charming, and when the book Wind in the Willows is adapted there have been times when this sweet scene has been left out. The script is true to that of Kenneth Grahame's book, which is just amazing and so imaginative. The length is just right, and went along at a perfect pace. What made Mole's Christmas was the vocal talents of Peter Davison and Richard Briers as Mole and Rat, two great actors who did an exceptional job. All in all, a delightful and underrated Christmas treat. 10/10 Bethany Cox

A sweet, child-centred Christmas tale!
seanraleigh16 January 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Mole's Christmas was the first exposure I had to the tales of Grahame Greene. I've since bought and read the book "The Wind in the Willows", and wish that more children's literature followed the themes set out in that wonderful story. Mole's Christmas sets out a simple story, that of Mole and Rat trying to get home and warm through a wintery night. There isn't much of a plot beyond their having to deal with some mischievous weasels following them, but the scene in which the caroling field mice are welcomed in is wonderful in its simplicity. Perhaps the cutest moment is when one little mouse sheepishly asks where the loo is! This Christmas tale (no pun intended!) is a marked departure from the commercial fare produced nowadays. Highly recommended!

Mole's Christmas
jboothmillard13 September 2005
Warning: Spoilers
When I was a kid this used to be a really nice part to the three part story of The Wind in the Willows. This was the second part based during the time of Christmas. Basically Rat (Richard Briers) and Mole (Doctor Who, Peter Davison) are heading home after seeing Badger in the Wild Wood. On the way Mole catches the scent of the hole, or ,home, that he left behind during Spring. He tries to get Rat to hear him, so he can go back to it, and eventually they do go. After they get there though Rat is pleased with the decoration of the house, but Mole is despairing and dreading the house, being so small. A good kid Christmas classic, but too cheesy and corny now!

Essential family viewing every Christmas Eve
frecklesk24 December 2020
We were given a cast off video from my Grandma. My daughter loved it from day one. 20 years later she still insists on watching it on Christmas Eve.

They need to get it on DVD

Loved It!
ian-12115 January 2007
Because me and my sister loved "The Adventures of Mole" so much, my parents decided to tape "Mole's Christmas" which aired the next day. It was the part in the book when Mole and Rat where coming from Badger's house after a bad experience in the Wild Wood. After several mishaps in the nearby village, Mole starts to miss his old home after being away from it while staying at Ratty's House. Rat doesn't understand Mole to start with than realises what the matter is. He than understands and feel ashamed of himself due to his ignorance. He decided he was going to find Mole's House to cheer Mole up. Things work out fine in the end! Starring the voices of Peter Davison (The Last Detective) as Mole and Richard Briers (Alias the Jester) as Rat, this is absolutely lovely. I sure your children will enjoy as much as I did when I was their age. Watch this for Christmas! 10/10
