Actor James Hampton, who played the father, Harold Howard, in the original Teen Wolf (1985) film, voiced the same character in this animated adaptation.
In mid-November 1986, there was a cartoon voice actors' strike that halted production of all animated shows (the strike was resolved around March 1987). As a result, only 8 original episodes of "Teen Wolf" (instead of the usual 13 shows made for a season of an animated series) were produced for its second and final season, which aired on CBS from September 1987 until August 1988 (a total of 21 shows were made in the series). All episodes from both seasons were rerun on CBS from October 1988 until September 1989.
Interestingly, the show has taken traits of other characters actor Michael J. Fox has portrayed and incorporated them into the series. In episode "Shopworn Wolf," Scott is intently interested in purchasing a guitar. In Back To The Future (1985), Marty McFly not only owns a guitar but is part of a band.
Also, the character animation not only resembles Michael J. Fox, but is also the actor's actual height. In episode "Teen Wolf Come Home," Scott is described as being about 5'5. Michael J. Fox is 5' 4/12.
In 2017, Shout! Factory announced they would release the two seasons of the animated "Teen Wolf" series on DVD. However, because of litigation between MGM (who now owns the "Teen Wolf" property) and Warner Bros. (whose Hanna-Barbera (Australia) division co-produced the show), the release of the box set has indefinitely been put "on hold," with no resolution in the foreseeable future.
