• Errors in geography: When Barris and Byrd are in Mexico City (according to a caption), we can see a Saguaro cactus in the background. This type of cactus can only be found in the Sonoran desert in the USA, and cannot survive over 3,000 ft. Mexico City is about 1000 miles away from the Sonoran desert and is at 7,500 ft.
  
  
• Anachronisms: The application for employment that Chuck fills out to be a page at NBC lists NBC's address with a ZIP code. ZIP codes were not in use until 1963.
  
  
• Anachronisms: Penny becomes a hippy in 1964, though the hippy movement doesn't get underway until 1965-66. She also plays "Sunshine Superman" by Donovan for Chuck, though the song wasn't released until 1966.
  
  

• Factual errors: When Chuck meets Penny, they drink Rolling Rock from clear bottles. Rolling Rock has always come in green bottles.
  
  
• Factual errors: When Chuck applies to work at NBC, the application says "National Broadcasting Corporation" while the network's real name is "National Broadcasting Company".
  
  
• Anachronisms: When Chuck is pitching "The Gong Show" (1976) in 1977, someone is drinking from a mug with an NBC logo that shows a peacock over a stylized "N". This logo did not exist until the fall of 1979, and was replaced with the current logo in 1986.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: The same extras are used for different scenes. When Chuck is in the cinema you can see the same man as later in the audience with one of chuck's quiz shows.
  
  
• Anachronisms: When The Newlywed Game was picked up and everyone was celebrating, there was an episode of the show playing on the TV in the other room. That particular episode was actually from more than 10 years later.
  
  
• Crew or equipment visible: When Chuck and Penny are driving to California, a piece of equipment can be seen next to his head in the left side mirror.
  
  
• Factual errors: When the new CIA agents are target practicing, they are a shooting range that has a clear flat terrain behind it as far as the eye can see. That would never be the case. There is always a hill or some manmade elevation behind the targets to "catch" the bullets. Otherwise there'd be strays all over the place.
  
  
• Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): The NBC tour guide says NBC was the first network to air a color TV show - "The Colgate Comedy Hour." Actually, CBS was the first network to aired the first color TV show - "Premiere," on 21 June 1951.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: When Penny walks in on Chuck when he brings another girl home, you can hear the ambiance loop end and restart with a slight cut of silence.
  
  
• Anachronisms: In East Berlin in 1970. the first car we see is Lada Riva which was actually first introduced in 1980.
  
  
• Anachronisms: In one scene, with Chuck's secretary and Chuck in his office, the scene is labeled as taking place in LA, 1967. On a close up of the secretary, over her left shoulder, is the sheet music to Frank Mill's "Music Box Dancer", which was not written until 1974, and didn't become a hit single until 1978.
  
  
• Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Twice in the film Chuck lights a cigarette backwards (i.e. he lights the filter with the tip in his mouth.) The first time is in Chuck's office with him and his secretary (labeled as taking place in LA, 1967), and the second time is in a car with Chuck, Byrd, and Simon Oliver in Helsinki 1967. Also, in each of these scenes Chuck is smoking a different brand of cigarettes, though this may very well have been on purpose.
  
  
• Factual errors: When Chuck shoots the man in Berlin ("sorry 'bout your teeth") he is using an automatic pistol, but no cartridges eject. Only revolvers keep the cartridges inside the gun after the bullet is fired.
