Law Abiding Citizen Synopsis: Clyde Shelton (Butler) is an upstanding family man whose wife and daughter are brutally murdered during a home invasion. When the killers are caught, Nick Rice (Foxx), a hotshot young Philadelphia prosecutor, is assigned to the case. Over his objections, Nick is forced by his boss to offer one of the suspects a light sentence in exchange for testifying against his accomplice.
Fast forward ten years. The man who got away with murder is found dead and Clyde Shelton coolly admits his guilt. Then he issues a warning to Nick: Either fix the flawed justice system that failed his family, or key players in the trial will die.
Soon Shelton follows through on his threats, orchestrating from his jail cell »

Unless you read gossip blogs and have seen paparazzi photos from the set, you probably haven't heard of Law Abiding Citizen. The film stars Gerard Butler as Clyde Shelton, an "everyday guy" who decides to take justice into his own hands after a plea bargain sets his family's killers free. His target: The district attorney who orchestrated the deal. It's directed by F. Gary Gray, who last brought us The Italian Job and A Man Apart before that. Don't get this confused with The Bounty though, the film that Butler is currently shooting, as this isn't a comedy, it's a thriller through-and-through. Anyway, check out the poster below. Liddell Entertainment has acquired U.S. theatrical rights to Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton's home invasion horror-thriller The Collector (formally Midnight Man), it was announced today by Mickey Liddell, President of Liddell Entertainment. Directed by Dunstan, from an original script by Dunstan and Melton, The Collector is set for wide release on July 31, 2009.

Filmmaker Marcus Dunstan, who last week gave Dread Central a peek at his directorial debut The Collector, tipped us off this afternoon to the film’s acquisition by Liddell Entertainment, who will give the flick a wide theatrical release through Freestyle Releasing (the latter responsible for presenting The Haunting of Molly Hartley) on July 31, 2009.

Believe it or not, there are two different armored truck heist movies in development right now, and I had no idea until today. How is this possible? The best part is that they're both called Armored. I imagine one will eventually have to be renamed, but as of right now, they're almost exact clones of each other. In both cases the story revolves around armored truck drivers who pull off inside jobs in order to score some serious cash. The first one [1] out of the gates is from Sony Screen Gems, and it stars Laurence Fishburne, Matt Dillon, Columbus Short, Jean Reno and Skeet Ulrich. Hungarian director Nimród Antal's previous credits include Vacancy and Kontroll. The other Armored [2] (which probably won't be out until 2010) stars Eric Bana, and and is directed by F.
