Paul Giamatti tends to play moody defeatists and rageful misanthropes. Which is just the way he likes it
'I'm clearly not Brad Pitt, and I'm never going to be Brad Pitt," says Paul Giamatti, closely inspecting his coffee cup in a Polish restaurant in a leafy neighbourhood of Brooklyn. "But I don't think I'd want to be Brad Pitt, you know? So that's Ok."
This is partly just a reference to Giamatti's "character-actor" looks, but also to something deeper: a sense of composure, of being comfortable in one's own skin, that the archetypal Hollywood star exudes but both Giamatti and his characters tend to lack. "You know that thing where you can just fuckin' stand there and people can't take their eyes off the person? I don't have that weight of charisma," he explains. "That's not me. If I just stand there, it's going to be boring. You're going to »

Hugh Jackman is in talks to star in Shawn Levy's futuristic robot boxing film, Real Steel.
Real Steel is based on a short story by Richard Matheson, and was originally adapted for the big screen by scriptwriter Dan Gilroy (The Fall), but has since been rewritten by Leslie Bohem (Taken, Dante's Peak) and John Gatins (Summer Catch, Dreamer).
The story centres on a father and his estranged 13-year-old son who enter the world of robotic boxing as, in the future, human boxing has been outlawed and replaced with sports combat between human-trained 2000-pound heavy steel robots.
According to Variety, Jackman is in talks to play the father's role, an ex-fighter turned promoter whose "access to sub-standard robot parts hampers his hopes for glory in Robot Boxing, until he discovers a discarded robot that always seems to win."
It's an interesting and original concept, so here's hoping that it is dealt with properly. »

Earlier this week, we talked about director Peter Berg’s upcoming movie plate being fuller than a Biggest Loser contestant standing in a buffet line before going on the show. With his involvement on Battleship, Hancock 2 and now Dune, Berg will be busy for the better part of the next 6 years - so it’s no wonder that DreamWorks recently announced Berg stepping aside on the robot boxing movie Real Steel.
Who do you think they choose to replace him? None other than the Mr. Cotton Candy himself, Shawn Levy. You may remember Levy from such cinema greats as The Pink Panther, Just Married, Big Fat Liar, and Cheaper by the Dozen. He also directed both Night at the Museum films, the first being great; the second was fun but didn’t live up to the first. Now, before you say I’m not giving the guy a chance, »

Shortkut - The Con is on, stars Akshaye Khanna as a struggling writer, Arshad Warsi as King Kumar and Amrita Rao in a glamorous new avatar. Can the movie produced by Anil Kapoor, written by Anees Bazmee and directed by Neeraj Vohra (Phir Hera Pheri), appeal to the masses?
Shortkut is a touching comedy about two men and the wacky situations they face in the pursuit of their tinsel-town dreams. Shekhar (Akshaye Khanna), a struggling assistant director cum script writer and Raju (Arshad Warsi), a non-actor but a wannabe superstar. Both get together while struggling to make it in the film industry. While Shekhar is dedicated and hard-working, Raju only believes in Shortkuts!
One day, Raju manages to steal Shekhar’s blockbuster script and is signed on by a Bollywood producer as the lead star. Soon Raju, is the Hrithik Roshan of the film industry, an overnight superstar! Following this incident, »

Let's give this another shot, shall we? I really hated the first teaser trailer for Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian - way too much stupid humor and jokes that just weren't funny at all. Not a lot of people agreed with me, but I'm here to voice my opinion and I did just that. Well, Fox has released a slightly upgraded international teaser trailer with a few minor changes, and fortunately, the improvements are good enough to keep me just barely on the verge of attacking this movie yet again, so I'll hold my tongue this time. Anyway, give this new trailer a shot and if you so please, let us know what you think. One TV spot I am glad that we did not see during the Super Bowl tonight was Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian. I don't need to see any more of that frickin' movie, no matter how big of an improvement it is over the first one, if at all. This poster is kind of a big show off, like, like who we have (and what we have) in our movie! Look, it's Ben Stiller, and Abe Lincoln, and Napoleon, and a frickin' monkey! How funny! This humor really isn't for me anymore. And if you haven't seen it, go watch the atrocious trailer, just so you know how bad this will be before you even admire this poster. See it below. Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian is again directed by Shawn Levy, of Big Fat Liar, Cheaper by the Dozen, The Pink Panther, and »
