Mega Man 6 is known as the final Mega Man title for the Nintendo Entertainment System. In this, Mr. X, the sponsor of the first annual robot tournament, takes the top eight robots who made it to the finals in his bid for world domination. Mega Man is shocked as the man says he is the one who manipulated Dr. Wily all this time, although later on, this would lead to a big twist (I won't spoil it for those who are new to the series, but if you grew up playing these games, you'll know what I mean).
If you played the last five of the Mega Man games, then the gameplay is still the same: shoot, jump, and slide your way to the boss, and destroy boss to earn his weapon. However, this one does change things up a little. The Rush items have been replaced with two Rush Adaptors, Rush Power and Rush Jet, which are gotten by beating two of the Robot Masters. Each one turns Rush into battle armor Mega Man can wear. Rush Power allows Mega Man to charge up powerful punches capable of breaking blocks and damaging enemies while Rush Jet allows him to take to the sky wearing a jetpack. These are needed, as four of the Robot Masters actually have a second door that will require these, and beating that door will not only net the Robot Master's weapon, but also one of four Beat parts, which when all are collected, allow the use of Beat. Each Robot Master's stage has its own gimmick to keep you on your guard (Flame Man has oil which, when set on fire, become an instant kill trap, for example). This is a game worth checking out, and has been included in many compilations, the most recent being Mega Man Legacy Collection.
