Pleasant Surprise!
newsroom-la-stories1 June 2014
This sweet little nearly-no-budget-flick popped up on my iTunes movie recommendation list the other night and I spontaneously checked it out because the plot sounded intriguing. Was in for a lovely surprise! "The Fair" turned out to be an eminently charming, inspiring and visually appealing indie gem, something just perfect for a snugly movie night in with a bunch of girl friends. I'm usually not big on romance and romantic comedy films but this one got me smiling and giggling a couple of times and you could sense that director-writer-producer Sarah McAnally truly put her heart and soul into her big screen debut. Oh, and leading actress Brigid Brannagh (didn't know her before) is just heart warming and cute as a button.

A true Indie GEM!
swordpix122 July 2014
Sarah McAnally's THE FAIR is a true indie gem and a pleasant alternative to all of the loud excessive summer fare crowding the multiplex. The film is a sweet story about the unlikely relationship between a young woman out in the world pursuing her dream of music and her elderly male roommate. The film's plot and characters reminded me of Coyote Ugly crossed with Harold And Maude. The story and direction are expertly handled on par with a much larger-scale studio film. The performances by Brigid Brannaugh and Neil Vipond are winning and made me want to google some of their other work as they aren't household names (yet!). Just learned that Ms. Brannagh was a co-star on Lifetime's Army Wives. In all, a great indie film full of laughter, music, drama, and a lot of heart! Highly recommended!
